These budget vids are cool...as long as we NEVER HATE on the budget folks/gear. Everyone has to start somewhere. And someone who is maybe a new father...or just got their first apartment...who is still trying to get loud, should get our support. I actually have some gear i will GIVE to someone who is struggling with bills and still trying to bang. I know i have a 10" Kicker powered subwoofer, a really nice Pioneer 800 watt monoblock amp...the expensive limited edition one, an Alpine mono amp, a Kicker mono amp and a bunch of other nice shit. Get at me in these comments and maybe we work something out. I am VERY busy...so give me time to reply.

Got the equivalent of MTX TX81000D and 2 MTX 12" TX612 on a Dual enclosure... when I got my kid, it was time to say goodbye to the sound system.
I tried so hard to sell everything, amplifier, sub + Enclosure + RCA cable + the power cable kit for... $100 all... tried 2 years later for $50.... tried to give them for free to a young guy or girl, someone who bought his her first car and have no money.
It's been 14 years that they are sleeping on the garage in their box.
I sold my car, kept the Pioneer Dual Din.. 3 voice Pioneer TSE 10".
Got everything that would make me dream if I was on my 20's and not 44.
I live in France... nobody wants it. Oh.. time has changed.

@@bigballmagrawl0929you probably wouldn’t see an explosion but I’ve blown the lids off my boxes before and had to reglue and seal them. Just means it doesn’t have enough bracing for the power handling.
Q power is who makes scrappy box's . Q bomb are OK boxes.
Cheap subs can actually go a long way in a good enclosure.
Years back I met a guy who had two of the entry level Kicker 12s in a sealed box and had them bridged on a 2 channel @ 1 ohm. He wasn't happy with the output and the amp obviously would go into protect a lot.
I made him a 4th order for the subs and rewired the subs to 4 ohm. No more amplifier issues and he couldn't believe the difference in output; it was night and day.
When Pyle had the original blue wave's come out, not the thin cheap magnet knock offs today, the massive chunks of a sub model from way back, that thing was EPIC GOOD for a 10/12inch. Those were cheap, and would out do a lot of the major and better brands.
I actually got a decent subwoofer with a bad enclosure, when I wired it to 1 ohm and put some power into it the amp keeps on going to protect mode and now I wired it to 4 ohms and it's actually getting a lot more power into it, I still have the bad enclosure (something you'd buy off some local shops that they just make for a quick cash, no tuning at all and using cheap materials for making it). Do you think I still have hope for a lot more sound output when I got a decent box for my sub?
I have a 1000w RMS Class D amp, and my sub is an 8 inch with 500w RMS specification, did the big 3 upgrade on my car and have great wirings throughout so I don't think the amp and the power would be the issue for it to sound like a 200w sub when on 1 ohm load, I have a friend with only a 300w RMS amp (same brand as mine) and same sub as mine, but his box is custom made and it sounded day and night from mine lol.

Those small low powered subs are designed to be in sealed enclosures to get the best sound out of them. You should add a sealed box as one of your test when your trying out different subs to see the SQ of each sub you test.

This is a Basshead channel geared towards spl...he could care less how flat the frequency response curve is.
yup if the sub have high qts etc.. and is designed for sealed its silly testing its quality in a ported box

Ive had a 50 $ set up i found at a pawn shop on e sony explodes the old school . And and explode anp with a sealed enclosure. I was super young didnt care about watts just saw subs an amp in a sealed box for 50$ grabbed em. I told my self well if they dont sound great ill switch then out. I had my dad install em for me. Idk what he did but they hit so freaking hard! I had a 91 lunina and my truck would shake so much. I had a guy cime up to me once and said they sound so much better then his thousand dollar set up. He was so mad

Just being real it was some other budget sub you tested didn't last that long but these you tested just then for 30 dollars didn't do that bad
Can you show us how to calculate a box for a 15? or how to tune it? It’s things like that I think people need help with I sure do. Or what budget battery will work for a 2000 watt amp just throwing some ideals ur way.

So you believe that there is a difference between , let's say a hifonics brutus 4k @$300 and a crunch 4k @$200 or an autotek 4k $150 or an mb quart 4k @$295 ??

I really wish TH-cam reviewers would test for and post the T/S parameters for these cheaper subs - the details the manufacturers DO NOT provide. When shopping for budget subs, I would rather spend the extra $30-$50 at Parts-Express just because even when shopping on budgets - I prioritize the TS parameters over price since THAT dictates the box construction and what I can actually expect out of a driver. Similar to how Big D dynos amps over at Wiliston Audio. We need people to do the same for Speakers and T/S params.
Some cheap stuff can sound pretty good if you keep the expectations reasonable. The biggest issue is how long will they last? Maxxonics also owns MB Quart now and a few of those brand products are actually pretty decent...for the price. But not all of them. We're all looking for a bargain. But in the long run, just like a short cut doesn't always get you there quicker, buying cheap electronics doesn't always save you money either!
probably one of the better ways to spend only $30 on a sub if thats all you want to spend or all you have to spend
Interesting video subject that might get some views: I'm running a small skar 350 mono amp. Sounds great with the sdr 8 it came with but I'm sure a lot of people who just run a smaller amp wonder if a DDX for example would sound better even on that low of power compared to a lower power designed speaker. Can't find many videos on low power amps comparing low end series with higher end without changing the power. Is the nicer speaker going to hit harder and sound better even though it's way out of the optimal power range compared to the cheaper built lower end speaker matching the power range? I think SDR and DDX would be good comparison on a low power amp. I'm sure you have thoughts. I've tried that small amp on an SVR 10" and it did sound better. Of course moving more air but I wonder where the low power is going to suffer? You kind of usually want to match power ratings with the amp but if you can get a ddx10 for $140 makes sense to try it.
Parker, need some advice. I have a memphis 1000w amp at 1ohm. I am looking to get a pair of 12s to replace my old school cerwin vega 124s. What would you recommend I buy to pair with this amp for around $200 each sub?
I was thinking that $35 Hifonics and the Crunch looked exactly the same to me, and the Hifonics is made by Maxxsonics. Probably all 3 are the same sub.
I have a Kicker Comp R 12in in a sealed box with a 1k watt pioneer amp and it’s plenty. But for $30 a pop, maybe it could use some friends back there in the trunk! 🤔
Cheap subs, that actually work!? Color me surprised. Bet they might do OK in a 1/2' thick MDF vented enclosure and a bargain amp. What a world!
One really needs to measure the Thiele Small parameters to see what these speakers are best suited for. Often times woofers with dinky magnets have a high qts value(above .7) and will often do well in large boxes or open baffle applications. De-rate power handling accordingly to not exceed mechanical xmax.
I had a pair of power blasters from discount auto parts, they were 30 bucks, and gave me bass for years. I ended up putting them away still working. Lasted longer than several solobarics...

At $30 I think I'd get a broken home theatre sub from ebay and use the driver from that (the electronics are nearly always what fails). Might not go as loud but the quality will be there at least.

Taramps Smart amps put out a micro burst of power that is almost instantly tamed down to a normal level but will show on a dyno as crazy power even though it last like less than 1/20th of a second or something like that.

As of this writing I'm only halfway through video but for 28ish for a 12. So far very impressed with quality. You can't even get a cabinet speaker for that and like you I'm very impressed with the specs sheet they provide. Even if it detonates chances are if this is your budget you don't have much budget for your amp, because when you're young speakers come first...everything else secondary, so you won't be hooking a SALT up to it so yeah 👍 👍
I never heard a sub that didn't sound, at least, decent as long as it was in a good box. Reminds me of the Skar SVL the way it takes big power in the coil but has no motor force to convert it into sound.

Maybe test the GRS 12SW-4 from parts express.... $35 sub (used to be $25) and they perform very well. Magnet is bigger than these subs.

for an entry level brand I've had very good luck with maxxsonic i feel its decent product for the price
Bought one of these, blew at 200rms, bought another and it burned the VC in the same amount of time but with 150rms.
It's one of those products that's not bad for the price. If you aren't trying to max out volume... it's OK.
Two true to rating 1600w subs would sound very nice in that box with a 3000w quality amp
You could of still did that 5 min 40hz test tone at 800rms to show the difference def bounce quality imo

I got 2 skar ix 8's for my old work truck. Put them in ford exploerer "boxes" so they would fit behind the seat. Got a crunch 1500gp to push them. Got 4 4x6 scar factory gm replacement speakers to go in the stock holes & a tiny taramps 2 chan 100 watt for those. Less than $250 in the whole deal & it fkn rocks out in the single cab truck. Those skar ix 8s were like $37 each off ebay & sound good.
Video suggestion..... Trying different "budget" sub boxes seeing if they make a difference in your db scores.

A few years back i gave my son my Oldschool autotek sm1-1500 to get him started and that thing is still alive and well after 12+ years
I don't know much about stereo systems, but I'm trying to learn. I'm not sure of what I need to be looking for in an amp. I plan on getting new door speakers also, there are door speakers in the front and back seat of my car. I have a box with 2 subs in it. So how many channels do I need my amp to have? Or should I run separate amps for the subs and door speakers?
Separate amp for subs, Class D Monoblock. (1or2ch) Then Class A/B or D for the door speakers (4ch)
I have 2 of those in my house right now, I don't have a lot of money so they made sense at the time, on a 1000 watt audiozerone amp I bought for $68. Am Enjoying them so far, they can't handle the amp at full power but I don't need full power yet. Planning on upgrading later about end of year

Is there a possibility that there is a problem with the testing procedure? You used a prefab box, a "ported" prefab box, to test the subs? Both the box and the port were probably not correct for the driver.

Being 10% off changes tuning frequency.
That driver could be only making half of what it could be because the port is 1 inch longer or shorter than it needs to be.
@commonsense3505 I agree the box matters...but not in a quick review about a 30 dollar sub. You realize it costs 3x in materials more than the purchase price of the speaker right? Gotta keep things in perspective.
