OCTOBER 2020 this song and the LIVE AT LEEDS album is a record in the pages of Rock history of the The Who's live sound at the height of their on stage playing. I'd like to think this album gave them the phrase Tour de Force and Best Live Act, but some may argue that live at Charlton in 1976 earned them it.
The Who when they were a "heavy rock" band. You have yo hear "Live At Hull" also. It was recorded one or two days after the Leeds show and the CD was released 6 years ago. Fantástico listening !
Well said- I was at the recording of the Johnny Winter And at Pirates World in Dania, FL. They played 2 nights with the 2nd night ( Saturday Night ) was when they recorded the Johnny Winter. I consider The Who Live at Leeds the best album of all time whether in the studio or live.

That song got a lot of air play in 1970 in my city but the oldie stations NEVER play it anymore. Unless you were alive in '70 you might not know that this awesome Who cover exists. Stupid radio thinks its God ..... The Radio giveth and the Radio taketh away.
You're right. I never knew about this cover until watching the Woodstock film recently. Blown away they covered this. All classic rock stations play the SAME songs over and over again.
In 1970, rock bands had to have at least one song from an album that was AM top 40 radio friendly to broaden exposure. Progressive rock formats were taking off in '70, but very few cars were equipped with FM. In the NYC area, 50% and probably more of the residences didn't own an FM receiver. It was a totally different time.
@frdjr252 I went to Texas in 1972 with my military spouse, AM was the only thing out there. When I returned to the east coast a year later and heard of something called FM radio, it was like Alice through the looking glass and there was no going back. Omg the music. Spirit, Leon Russell, Quicksilver, The Who, Jethro Tull, the list goes on. I'm 70 years old and still play this stuff most every day.
I might be biased but i like Rush's cover more, its heavier and Geddy is louder amd it feels more like Rock or almost metal compared to this. Not sayin this is bad but Rush is just unstoppable
