    This is actually true....because as a UK RN, I have to do overtime work just to make ends meet for me andy family. My sis in the US is a RN and she NEVER has to do overtime. She travels like 3 to 4 times per year as well!!🤷🏾‍♀️

      My sister was last in the UK in 1999. I once told her to come back to visit... 😂. She said "why? It's grey, dull, dirty, the weather is crap, there's nowhere exciting to visit and it's crowded".... I couldn't really argue. Tbh, there are more cities in just the state of Florida that I'd move to than the whole of the UK. 😂.

    Having relocated UK to US with international employer, Americans typically take super short breaks as the norm is 10-15 days annual vacation allowance, and sick days often come out of that allowance, even in big/good companies, and no statutory paid maternity leave. It is a huge work cultural difference. Americans can’t believe how many vacation days Europeans get. I was able to carry over my UK 30 days allowance after relocating.

    • @ANTSEL
      @ANTSEL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We understand everyone's experience is different in the US. We share our experience and recognise we are very fortunate that the company I work for is really great when it comes to vacation and sick days, plus their benefits. I have definitely seen a shift in US companies to more flexible working and more vacation days.

    I just discovered your channel, and I'm really enjoying it!
    Regarding the parent-child relationship of the government to the public in the UK. I have seen particular things in the UK that lead me to call it a "Nanny State". One is the whole "no electricity in the bathroom" thing. Brits seem really nervous to see an outlet by the sink, when in actuality, they're perfectly safe with a GFI circuit breaker, which is required by national building code. And there are GFI breakers for 220 V systems. It seems like a fear rooted in the 1800s, when household electricity was introduced and the tech was primitive.
    Another is the inability to buy perfectly safe, non-addictive drugs like acetaminophen (paracetamol) or ibuprofen in large quantities. After all, you can buy enough liquor in one go in the UK to kill yourself, yet that's allowed.
    It's true, people here in the US really don't like the government dictating what rational adults can do or not do. I remember when seat belts were made mandatory by law. You'd have thought the sky was falling, the way some people resisted.

    No way is US property tax better for owners than Stamp Duty. You pay stamp duty once on purchase, a few %. In US you pay 1.5, 2, in some states 3-4% of house value ANNUALLY as a tax, and it goes up in line with property value over the years. Even when your mortgage is paid off, you owe the property tax forever, even in retirement or unemployment. Bigger expense than the mortgage payments in some states, over time.
    Also, if you rent your US property out, you still pay the property tax as owner, whereas in UK the tenant renting the house pays the council tax.

    • @tabernathy0428
      @tabernathy0428 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Property taxes are tax deductible from your income tax in America. You can deduct them along with any mortgage interest you pay from your federal income tax.

    The US still using some form of non digitized documentation is a good thing actually. If the Electic grid goes down everything wont be lost. As far as the media is concerned, it didnt start to get as bad as it is until the 2016 elections, then it got bad.

    • @ANTSEL
      @ANTSEL  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just so you know, if the electric grid goes down it is not lost, only access to where it is stored. Most IT systems are fairly robust in backing up data, paper is the worst way to go if the concern is loss of information. Hurricane Katrina was a great example why going digital is needed.

    Almost every single thing you discussed in this video comes down to money. The US way of life is focused on money. Lower taxes...more money to spend. Give extra tips...the employee will usually spend that money. Private healthcare makes companies tons of money and employs thousands of workers. Take vacations...spend money. Spin the news to gain viewers and make more money on the companies that advertise.

      Ooo that is an interesting observation which is true!

    • @Sgab1007
      @Sgab1007 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed 100%…. If you have a steady income and can afford any additional costs with healthcare, you can live a comfortable life in the States. However, if you’re like most people, it can be hard to keep up with rising cost of living and the constant fear of losing healthcare. I have been in that situation more than once, and it’s extremely stressful. All because of layoffs, which are becoming more frequent in the US

    • @ANTSEL
      @ANTSEL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. There is a lack of safety net here and a punishing system if you fall on hard times. The impact of losing a job here is far worse.
