Show Synopsis: With all the thrills and edge-of-your-seat tension of a major sporting tournament, combined with the latest in robot engineering and larger-than-life inventors, BattleBots has viewers of all ages gripped.
In pairs, bot inventors go head-to-head inside the perilous and bullet-proof BattleBot arena, with the aim of destroying or completely disabling their opponent’s machine.
During each episode, we meet the creators behind these awesome machines. From amateurs and super-smart technology students to seasoned professionals who have dedicated their lives to creating the ultimate fighting robot, find out what drives these charismatic inventors, and how they turn their visions into supreme battling robots.

chomp has to be one of the clunkiest machines I have ever seen, any kind of impact turns it on its side. I think it would lose against my roomba vacuum cleaner tbh.

How did a judge score Chomp as the winner?! Chomp spent more time on its side and back rather than upright.
Damage is everything, wedge and pusher bots score almost no points. A control bot like whiplash can but this little bot is no control bot. They will almost always lose judges decisions.
Warrior clans main weapon broke
this was back in the day where aggression was still scored by active weapon use only with no real asterisks, I can see chomp snagging damage full stop and by the word of the rules potentially snagging aggression.
the rule was bs and was eventually taken to be less literal by the judges before ultimately being changed entirely

@@desmond-hawkins it was warranted. Even in the season where it was the "primary weapon" aggression rule it was clearly bs to the audience, its why chomp made a deep run in the first place
Chomp was so unstable. Its primary weapon is becoming its weakness.
This was like watching a two guys playing MechWarrior online, with a lag of 7000 ms.
Chomp was designed to magnetically latch onto the floor of the BattleBox to prevent being jostled around when it uses its hammer.
The problem is that while the testing ground’s floor is magnetic, the BattleBox’s is not. Unfortunately, Zoe and her team were incorrectly informed that the Box WAS magnetic, and Chomp’s performance suffered because of it. And you have to announce major design changes to your bot in advance of the next season, so they can’t just change it in Pit Row between episodes.
Really, Chomp’s reputation as being poorly designed is kind of undeserved.
As cool and advanced as Chomp's self-righting system is, it's too top heavy to maintain control. Once that spike swings over the aim goes sporadic! Maybe if it had arms that dropped down on either side at the same time as the hammer it might be able to keep itself up, but I don't know how much weight that'd add.
This is an older version of the machine. The newest version is a 500lb walker bot (so far the only bot that has taken advantage of the 250lb weight bonus for walkers) which allows it to be more stable. It had some issues, but it seems to have some serious potential should those get fixed.
Warrior Dragon is *such* a weird robot and nobody ever seems to talk about it.

Chomp really needed a wider base in order to stay upright. The new walker version seemed to fix that, and then some.
Well sure, you can't just tip it over anymore, but then again, you can also easily avoid the weapon, and not take any damage from it. While you hit away to your hearts content.
Chomp is from the stone age. The wheels are minuscule. Top heavy clunky design lends itself to capsize with any little wind let alone impact. The calculations are so out that every time they swing that hammer, the whole robot swings itself from back to front and then falls on its side. This is a good example of how not to design a robot. How they have won a couple of fights in the past proves that luck exists
Parts were stone aged, but others weren’t. It’s technically the most intelligent bot in the show, and the new chomp...
Now imagine if every flaw you just said was completely made up and false.

The way the rules were in 2018 meant Chomp could score points, this is not the case anymore.

@@sparkplug1018 because battlebots have been uploading fights however they get blocked in U.S. thanks to discovery. Minotaur vs hypothermia was a fight available here but then got removed a few days later so I wasn't sure if this would be the same case here

We must also have a blind judge (Naomi). CHOMP looked like a pregnant walrus flopping around out there. That was so one sided in favor of Warrior Dragon it wasn't even funny.

Chomp has got to be one of the worst designs ever. It’s so unreliable.
Team Chomp puts a lot of whizbang high tech stuff in there such as LIDAR. The only problem is, they forget basic stuff. It can't stay upright and the hammer actuates way too slow. By the time it fires the other bot is somewhere else. The flames it spews out do little or no damage. They look good but accomplish nothing. On the plus side, my Grandson loves Chomp. He always gets a good laugh out of Chomp's ineptitude. He laughs at Chomp almost as much as he laughs at the Three Stooges. Maybe there's a message there. Is Chomp the bot version of Curly?
But Chomp is the only bot to ever defeat biteforce!
Maybe some tweaking then Chomp will be as good as new.

Chomp needs to be lower, wider and able to swing 2 separate hammers in either direction. That's was painful to watch.

I mean.. based on their behavior here, during their fight against nightmare, the Hydra cage... I love their bots - Hydra is my all time favorite flipper, but... :/
I think this can be explained by what era team whyachi started combat robotics which was the comedy central era. Attachments were the norm back then and there are some old rivalries between builders that where built up back then.

I get wanting to win, but they're not making a living by winning.. and I get that winning is fun, but there really is so much more to it in combat robotics, and they seem to not get that. Just want to be competitive and have serious esteem issues.

Driving toaster is a bad creation. A good battle bot is low and steady with agile movement.

In 2018 the rules for scoring the fights were a bit different, so Chomp could potentially score points. That's been changed since then.

Every version of chomp has always been so clumsy and mediocre. It's either top heavy, unstable and/or sooo slow. Dont get why they stayed in the league for so long

Their weapon is obscenely powerful, but they always throw themself off the ground when firing it, which dissipates most of the force. Yes, I've heard the story about the magnets.
I'd love to see Chomp clamped to the ground and fire off a hammer shot that splits a test robot in half.

The season 3 fights I remember being great were all of tombstones fights, bite force vs blacksmith, last chance rumble, and the final. A few others were good but I don’t remember them atm

If these videos are supposed to be some kind of highlight or supposed to interest the General Public, they are falling quite short. I promise you, the recent videos released have done nothing but drive people away. If it wasn't fun or exciting in person why would you think about putting it online let alone follow through, I just don't get it.
I enjoy it. They aren't posting 20 seconds of spoilers first anymore, which is nice.

Looking at the comments, I’m surprised how few people realize that chomp has been upgraded to be a lot heavier and more stable for two seasons now...
And still as useless as ever from what I can see.
Ok really this is just poor plays from Warrior Dragon neither weapon is operating so whenever Chomp tries to lift up drive right under him with the SF flipper or mini bot. I mean this the as locking another bot in place. If you can’t best them with skill you lock them in place although Chomp was obviously the better bot here
