He was asked ' How does he approach playing in front of 10 people as opposed to 100,000' and his reply was 'No different, just be true to the music'. 😊
There is the real hero of Led Zeppelin. John Paul Jones is the secret ingredient to the entire Led Zep sound. Without JPJ, the Zeppelin sound wouldn't exist. Misty Mountain Hop, The Battle of Evermore, Over the Hills and Far Away, The Rain Song, Thank You, Dancing Days etc all sound the way they do because of JPJ. Plant and Page, talented as they are, were the ornaments. No one remembers the magnificent tree. But, everyone remembers the shiny ornaments. Everything that shaped the definition of Led Zep's sounds was because of this man. What talent!
@@eugeneboyarskiy7694 Quick! Someone silence this rabble rouser! Let's just say how greatful we are these 4 guys landed in the same space! (PS this may have been one of 3 bass lines rattling around in my skull when I decided I couldn't live without one)
Met him in 1998 in S.F., ZOOMA tour. He & his wife let me on the Charter bus; kissed him, & got autograph! He & Mo were the nicest , most humble & gracious
Lmfao..... I've always said the same thing! Haha 🤣 Mrs. Jones》"Oh John, it's Robert on the phone" JPJ》(hello....) hangs up phone, Mrs.Jones》 "Well, what did he say, Luv?".... JPJ》"The Concert's tomorrow!.......tomorrow!....tomorrow!!😳💭" 😂 Hardy harr harr!!😅 Ya gotta love Jonesy!!!❤

A no-brainer song for him to do on that steel, would be Hats off to Roy Harper from the third album. He was doing when the levee breaks. But hats off to Roy Harper literally has the steel❤
Led Zep is one of those bands where the best all-round musician is actually the bass player. A few others also come to mind: Beatles Who Grateful Dead Cream Rush
Freakin' incredible! His work MADE LZ II. Every track a classic, with unbeatable bass work. Particularly The Lemon Song, which doesn't get mentioned a lot, for some unknown reason.
This baseline has been in my head since I first heard the song.
Well, then you'd better get that checked out.
@@georgeburns8447 No, I’m happy to have random tunes play in my head. It makes me happy. Say hello to Gracie.
👍🎸🎼

Yep, but let me render the same honor to Bonzo!
Maybe Jimmy Page and Robert Plant had small parts to play also? Oh wait, that’s the whole band! Weird

I would say they were all essential.
4 heroes, not one. All 4

Cool! One of the things I admire and respect about him, being married to the same woman for so long, that's beautiful!
Thank you JPJ, for everything! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍
JPJ is a living legend!!!! Great to see he still has it!
God bless and keep our Jonesy….
The Legend.....his bass lines were the bedrock, along with Bonzo's drums......Thank You for all you've done, JPJ !!!!!!
To this day ‘ramble on’ is pure gold, and that baseline is a major factor to its success
Class personified.......
One my favourites Mr Baldwin 🎈
That's right that's Mr. John Baldwin's name.
JPJ... one half of the greatest rhythm engine in rock history!!
A living musical prodigy.
Exquisite!!! A true legend
Great stuff. I am lucky to have lived in that time
Gives me the goosebumps EVERY. TIME.
I love the way he talks. He doesn't seem to move his jaw at all.
Lmfao..... I've always said the same thing! Haha 🤣

@@Jim-pt8kk But he does it more British than British.😬
this bassline is allways in my head and ramble on great song
Just a pure musical genius, thank you JPJ for all the great music you have given us.👍❤🎸👍
They’ll never be another band like zep. Thanks a lot guys you guys are the best.

We love you JPJ! ❤️
Part of the tapestry of my life. Thank you !
So great to see one of my favorite bassists still playing as well as before
So good yet somehow underrated. Zep's anchor. Wonderful personality with plentiful creativity.
fantastic !!
Gotta love John Paul JonesROCK ON!!!!!!!🤘🏻🤙🏻✌🏻
Phenomenal❗
*Mr. Jonesy is always pure gold, the secret weapon of Led Zeppelin. Legend.*
One of the most talented musicians on the planet!
Perfect bass line for Ramble On
Gee, ya think?
I'm not a bass player but it seems like many of his most iconic riffs aren't just cool sounding but must be fun to play too.
A no-brainer song for him to do on that steel, would be Hats off to Roy Harper from the third album.
He was doing when the levee breaks. But hats off to Roy Harper literally has the steel❤
Actually I’d listen to him play a concert all on his own

John Paul Jones 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
"Leaves are fallin, all around. It's time, I was on my way"
My favorite song by LZ because of that bass line❤
Jonesy makes it look so easy!
You can definitely spot the James Jamerson Motown influence on Jonesy's playing
He plays bass too!?
Haha, underrated comment! 😉
Freakin' incredible! His work MADE LZ II. Every track a classic, with unbeatable bass work. Particularly The Lemon Song, which doesn't get mentioned a lot, for some unknown reason.
when everybody recognized the song, a couple of people screamed and were summarily told to shut up!!!!!! that is awesome
Legend
Awesome ❤
He sounds so good
legend
Heaven !
Bass is the main instrument of this song IMO.
A master!
Such a gentleman
Legend love JPJ❤
Jonesy was always the classiest dude among the four in Zep...
Wonderful nimble dexterity at 78 yrs.
JPJ is so English that even the Queen says, "Damn, boy, you too English."
This bass line is genial, beautiful, love it.🎼🎵🎶🎸
👑
78 years old….wow
I work in nursing homes ( I’m here now!) and a lot of people can’t get out of bed at 78. This guy still plays like it’s 1970
Cool....
JPJ is goated
WOW
J.P.J. ....the OTHER 3 people in zeppelin....
❤❤❤
God bless John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin
Cool
Everybody talks about page who is great, but to me the heart of LZ was Jpj and bonham

Why, why, why, why is this video so choppy and then it cuts before we hear the audience's response?!! I CANNOT believe this!
I wonder if bassists start to merge together as they grow old... he looks a lot like Jack Bruce now, in their elder years.
is my grandfather!
0:36 . . sorry wrong song 😄
Yes we heard.
reminds me of a few acids trips i went on✌🏼
Praying for Them Crooked Vultures 2
Is that THE bass?
Looks like a newer version of his old one........the original is probably in a vault.
Was it..."How Many More Times?" that he started with, by mistake?..hahah
Is that a P-bass or Jazz-bass? Looks Jazz to me but I sold mine 20 years ago.
Jazz bass.
Jazz of course. Two single coil pickups are the dead giveaway.
Can't hear it!
Jack Bruce or John Entwistle may have been better bassists but had they been able to come up with No Quarter? Hmmm...
These are videos you gotta click on
Possibly the most POETIC bassist in the history of Rock!
I'd pay to watch this guy play a plank with a rubber band strung between two nails.
And JPJ would make it sound awesome.
This gentleman never got the kudos he deserved while being in Led Zeppelin....
No hay nada mas aburrido que un concierto de bajo , toque quien toque
Inoubliable cette ligne de basse !
Mieux que beaucoup de démonstrations stériles !😂
Too low
Audio nib-existent
Non-existent
Dear god, please give JPJ eternal life
Granted.
He fades in his own show n still groovy baby.
It would be good to hear the whole thing... 🙃
