    I'm glad many people are finding this useful. I made this tutorial because over the years I'd heard too many people say "just go out in strong wind, jump high and go for it." That was the advice on learning to loop.
    Many thanks to Aron Rosslee who helped with a few demos in this video, and features throughout the unhooking series I'm releasing this year. He's great all-round kiter. Here are his links if your want to have a look:

    FANTASTIC video! Getting the rider and the kite both in the shot while showing the bar manipulation is what makes your instructional videos the best. Great explanation as well. 🤙🏼
    - Makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with the 2 people who gave this a thumbs down...🤔

      not only... also breaking up complex movements in parts that you can train step by step. even when in this video this wasnt as obvious as in others of his videos makes it even better..

    Thanks Al. Doing jumps is not something that someone once told me to do - just go out and pull hard! The HeliLoop is a great way to learn this better and above all, stay safe. Just wish the local show-offs at my beach would practice in deeper water and not end up catapulted down-wind onto the beach!

    nice video but i think one of the most important things to take into consideration is the direction of the kites force (and your body position) through each type of loop. however leaving this out will provide some nice wipeout footage :)

    Q: After a megaloop is it safer to do the heliloop with the front hand and land changing direction or is it better to also do the heliloop with the back hand and continue with your traveling direction? Aparent-wind wise which is better and safer to do and learn first? Thanks!

    The only thing I never understand from these kitesurf college videos are when he says: try this in 10 knots. Like how on earth can you twintip in 10 knots? 15 knots is the absolute minimum to ride let alone jump with a LEI and twintip.

    • @johnrossmacneill1123

      Before you buy you should seek out an instructor or kite school. A few lessons and you will have an idea of where to start. Top of the line gear is great but you should first learn how to ride and stay upwind. Not to mention the safety techniques and understanding required to go at it on your own.

    Thanks a lot for all your great tutorials! I watch your videos since i started kiting two years ago, and they helped me a lot making progress. So last weekend i tried my first Heli-Loops with an 12qm Core XR 4. I think wind was about 16 knots, so not over/underpowered. In every try i jumped about 3-5 meters with ~3-5 sec hangtime. My problem was, that the Heli-Loop did not generate lift for me, so i could not land soft. I noticed, that the kite didn't loop right above me. Did i steer it too early?

    Great Video! Watching it a tad bit too late for me - I just came back from a trip to Egypt, where I was using a 2020 13 metre Rebel in winds of about 15 knots. With that setup, it took a little pull at one side of the bar during a backroll, which would send the kite into a handlable pool. With a bit more angle at the bar, the loop gave a nice little lift for a backroll transition, as described in one of your other videos. Next day, winds about 20 knots on a 2020 9 metre Rebel, hell broke loose when I applied the same technique. In this video, I see that your steering angle is fairly extreme - I reckon that does the trick in stronger winds, avoiding hefty powerful kiteloops?

  • @joaquinmir3620

    Can you do a heli loop with a 14 m Rebel?

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, definitely. The Rebel is great for helis. I think there are some heli clips in here that use the 15m rebel. However, jumping high with a 14 or 15 is a skill of its own. Most people won't be getting high enough jumping with their 14 to really need a heli. Have a look at the new heli loop video if you haven't already seen it: th-cam.com/video/-KzbIAFnC8Q/w-d-xo.html

    • @tomschuelke7955
      @tomschuelke7955 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure this realy helps the kite climbing faster.... but if it doesnt lead to a crash... why not.. most kiter that make kiteloops doesnt seem to do this

    • @siepostendorf2930
      @siepostendorf2930 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He does it because when you de power your kite climbs faster but if you power your kite really quick and short by yanking it you generate more power in your kite which leads to faster climbing when you push out the bar again

    Thanks for the effort in the video. But i dont agree with you about the terms "backloop" and "heli loop".
    Backloop has been used as "backroll". Heli loop is when u loop the kite above ur had, but u still flying in the air. The last "heli loop" before u tooch the water is called downloop.

    th-cam.com/video/w7mlJ86akFM/w-d-xo.html

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Beatrice. No, in this example it was not looping late that caused the heavy landing, it was mainly the angle of the kite. The kiter had a poor launch and the kite drifted to 1 o'clock (it should have been closer to 12 o'clock as they climbed). If you loop a kite to the right from 1 o'clock you are in trouble. Steering right from 1 o'clock sends the kite very low, of course. So you need a lot of space to get the kite back above your head. You would need to be about 10m high to have time to get the kite above your head with the kite diving so low. Also, to make things worse, the kiter steers very slowly (have a close look at their arms), also he/she is using is fairly slow kite. When they land the kite is still very low and not above their head. The pause shown at 8:15 is done with the kite at 12 in order to keep the kite high.
