      @Blitz_46 ปีที่แล้ว +15

I think 52 being referred to as gal more often than 96 gal is because of splatoon 2
In splat1, both gals had only two kits. The vanilla and the deco and back then both were called my their number and their kit. Like deco 52 or vanilla 96
But when splatoon 2 was out, 52 gal got a third kit, which was the kensa 52 gal
Like how gem says we usually called the kensa weapons by K weapon. Kensa 52 gal was called K gal (because there wasn't a kensa 96 gal), and I think once that happened, we just started calling all the 52s "gal" while 96 is referred to by the number

12:41 for some history, at least in my experience, back in early Splatoon 1 when callouts were starting out and such, in my experience for roller and krack-on, we called them "Voller" and "Krolller" in my more local community, as they were both run a loooot, and sometimes together.
As a side, because the meta was just starting and there were some die hard Aero players who were trying to prove the weapon, my circle eventually just started referring to them as the MG, RG, and down the road we kept it up with the PG, even after Aero fell out of favor.

A personal tip, the more you play the more used you get with names. Don’t stress too much with the correct term
Example the Nzaps in S2, we knew the grey zap was a favorite one during scrims and tourneys over other variants, but teams wouldn’t run 2 or more zaps. So in conclusion we would just say Zap

You mentioned Zimi for the Zink Mini Splatling, but I've seen this naming convention applied to the Mini Splatling as Vimi, which doesn't make sense without the Zimi context. In S2, the Kensa Mini Splatling (however rarely it was used) was Kimi in the same vein

imo the best and least confusing way to distinguish jet squelcher and inkjet is just to say vjet for jet squelcher; a special can't have variants so there's no "vanilla inkjet" to confuse it with. inkjet is already just as short as many other abbreviations so abbreviating it further seems a bit unnecessary when having 2 syllables does the job fine
also, it might've been useful to touch on some subs and specials too for this video? a couple of them have some unusual abbreviations or alternate names
    - line marker (angle shooter's japanese name) or just "marker" for short
    - hammer for ultra stamp
    - tristrike for triple inkstrike
    - zooka for trizooka, carried over from s1's inkzooka
    - just "zip" for zipcaster
    - cooler or soda or even tac if you want to get a little silly with your tacticoolers

My community tends to only use calls during Splatfest, but we do have some calls that may sound weird, as for some weapons we refer to JP names or other terminology…
Sploosh series: “Bold”, “Neo Bold”, “Bold 7”
    Splash series: “Sharpie”, “Neo Sharpie”
Blobbers: “Flosher” (from “Overflosher”), “Bathtub”, “Tub”
    Hydras: “Hydrant”
Blue Dapples: “Snow Whites” due to its Splatoon 2 kit making them “poison dapples”
    Squelchers: “Sweeper”
Splatanas in general: “Tana” if only one
Bows: “Bow” if only one. “Tribow”, “Reeflux” otherwise
Clash Blasters: “Trash Blaster”, “Trash” (old in-joke)
Aerosprays: “RG”, “MG”, “PG” if more than one
Shorthand for maneuvers - named after people in our group
“Draygo-ing”: sharking with a Carbon in the enemy base.
“Zordias-ing”: quickly inking enemy base, then looping around and inking it quickly again, over and over.
“Tevan-ing”: hiding in odd walls that people rarely used (usually on Moray Towers)

A distinction between weapons i try to encourage with my teammates with callouts is to not be to specific during a match - if there's an elitre, a splash neo, a vanilla splash and a wiper deco for *that game* the weapon callouts should be shortened to respectively - charger, neo/splash, vsplash and wiper respectively. Because of the convoluted nature of weapon shorthands *especially* when new to comp having to think of the proper name of the weapon instead of calling it by its broad term can clutter up valuable call space! This is how myself and my team work with weapon nicknames and im interested to here about how others may do it^^ this is a great recourse for new players to have! keep up the good work gem :)

If you do this again in the future as new kits arrive, I think it would help to be on the weapon selection screen rather than sheldon's shop so that you can filter them by class

Most Spanish people I know use sniper as the term for charger, since the Spanish name is kind of long

Once I forgot what Reef-Lux was called and just said “mini bow”. As long as you get the point across that’s what matters most.

One that I've adopted for the S-Blast in terms of a callout is a similar thing to the gals or NZAP, calling it the 92. And, for the Rapid pro deco, it could be abbreviated similarly to CDS, calling it the RPD

whenever I (rarely) see gloogas, i enjoy calling them googas or just glue. this mainly came from me and my friends calling the weapons weird names as a joke (this also made me call goo tuber goober)

  • @Pluss218
    @Pluss218 ปีที่แล้ว

This might be a me thing, but i tend to shorten many weapons to even shorter names. Ballpoint i just call pen, tetras down to tets, dapples to daps, slosher to slosh etc. Usualy even 1 syllable is enough for half the weapons bc of how common they are

  • @grimer1746
    @grimer1746 ปีที่แล้ว

As I reach the part about my main weapon, I’m reminded of how stupid I was in Splatoon 2. When I made calls there was VDynamo, Gold Dynamo, and my main, KD. I don’t know why I did that

I like to call Splattershot as “Splatter” and “Splatter Pro,” Blobber, Gal, the 52, Aero.
I usually call someone by weapon name like “they’re a Charger,” “I’m (a) Dapple,” “they’re a brusher,” “Got my head clapped by a Flingza”,” etc.

I know he's right about the rarity of having a team that has more than one roller and charger, butim reminded of how a few days ago my brother was watching me play open and doing callouts for me because i have pretty bad awareness around me and somehow our team comps for the next 3 matches were full of onlt chargers and rollers, my team having 4 rollers ans the enemy team having 3 chargers and one roller. When we got shuffled it turned into 6 chargers and 2 rollers... I didnt really know what to do at rhat point as one of 2 rollers in the match. Mako mart was alive with the sounds of *charger noise*

Why are some names more abbreviated than others despite there being potential?
For instance, the "Rapid Pro". The first thing that came to mind hearing that is "It could be shortened to the "Rapo".
Some of it is probably old habits and established names, I guess.

"I, "ProCharger" the third member of this Bravo Team refered to as "the ones who splat a lot of cephalopods in the Splatoon 3 videogame" currently using the color Blue to win against the enemy Alpha Team refered to as "Splat Markers", who are using the color Orange. I am currently engaging in combat with the second member of the latter team mentioned, "Mk. Boo", who has ambushed me from behind my cover at the south of the Splatzone closer to our side of the Flounder Heights map, and since they are using the Bamboozler Fourteen Mark One, and I am with my main, the E Dash Liter Four Kay Scope, I am at an enormous disadvantage from this distance. Seeing as both them and I are have the Respawn Punisher gear ability on the T dash shirts each of us is currently wearing in game, the time it would take for me to respawn after going down would be considerably longer than usual, and thus I would like to request some assistance from my team in this battle, for this is the Splatzones gamemode, where having the middle of the map painted with the color of our team as opposed to their's is required to achieve victory, making this the mode where having advantage in numbers is arguably more important than in any of the other gamemodes present on the Anarchy Battle and X battle so called "rotations" this videogames provides for it's users to play.

    1. I'd usually just Say Jr. Wave for the Custom Jr.
    2. I ironically say CHARGER when referencing a Charger, Pencil with the Snipewriter, and E-Liter for well... you know.
    3. There's 4 four brushes ironically. Brush, P-Brush.
    4. Bow (Tri Stringer) and Missle Spammer (which I main)
    5. I'd say Tenta Sorella Brella would be Zooka Brella l XD
    6. Wiper Deco: Missle Spammer II (Or Wiper Deco)
    7. N-Zap (Cooler)
    8. I forgot the Carbon Deco existed, lol.
    9. Kraken Roller sounds great
    10. V Nova VS. A Nova
    11. 13:41 I mean Annaki has Ink Mine and Inkjet, so that's probably a good one to run.
    12. I don't know why Squiffer has not gotten an alternate kit yet.
    13. 17:38 Don't know why...
    14. Gal, long gal, kraken gal
    15. I'd say V Jet and Inkjet
    16. 23:28 That's funny
    17. V Splash AKA The Crab God
    18. V Swig and Train Swig (Get it? Because the trains are known to have EXPRESS in their name!)
    19. Forge Splattershot Pro: Booyah Shot XD
    20. S-BLAST '92: Dual Blaster
    21. V Clash Vs. C Clash
    22. BP sounds better.
