    Really cool, I feel like a Chapman is something I'd be proud to own. Everyone owns stuff and you're happy/unhappy with it based on how it performs at its intended task, you rarely think about who made it, what the company's like etc. I feel like a Chapman guitar is something I can look at the people involved and think 'Yeah, I'd like that' It'd be one of the few possessions I could look at, see the story behind it and be happy with.
    Rob's a nice guy is pretty much the point :P Can't wait for the lefty models to come out.

    • @user-js8wz6yt4v
      @user-js8wz6yt4v 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GeetarGeeker if you don’t know how to set up a guitar properly you shouldn’t buy one of these. Mine came great with one fret buzzing, I just recrowned it a bit and it’s all good. If you can’t set up a guitar (fixing electronics, finish, action etc) just buy a US made PRS. I bought my Chapmans with the intent of modding the fuck out of them and I couldn’t be happier.

    • @metalmaster624
      @metalmaster624 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fuh Q So you're okay with buying a shit quality product and it's perfectly acceptable to sell faulty products? Have fun with your Chapman champ.

    • @user-js8wz6yt4v
      @user-js8wz6yt4v 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GeetarGeeker not really, the build itself is good and i like the design (ergonomics-wise). I have 3 Chapmans (2 Korean 1 indo) and haven’t had any QC issues other than a buzzing fret on the indo one. If I thought it’s crap I wouldn’t buy them. Obviously it’s not your cup of tea, and that’s ok. It amazes me how some people are so pissed about people liking a certain guitar. I replaced pots and caps on all of them but I did the same with my MIA Fenders and Gibsons. Not to mention the Gibson QC especially for the price is crap. I prefer CTS pots and OD caps and always swap the originals. So the Chapmans fit my needs perfectly. I also love their neck/joint contour. To each his own!

    • @metalmaster624
      @metalmaster624 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fuh Q There's a reason I don't support Gibson anymore and you hit the nail on the head. How can you support a company that puts out guitars like this?

      He doesn't own the factory and the employees at the factory do not work for Chapman guitars. He pays a manufacturer (WMIC or in this case possibly Samick since these are made in Indonesia) that manufacture is given the specs by Chapman and an order list, then that manufacturer uses its factories and its labor force to produce the guitars to fill the order for Chapman. Chapman guitars is a guitar COMPANY however they are not a guitar MANUFACTURER.

    • @tellingyoustories

      Well let's hope that the person paying these people pays them well, and hope that, of they didn't, Chapman wouldn't be working with that company

      @@moseisleyblues8492 there's no difference except that one is done in a developed country and the other one is done in a poorer country
      The craftsmanship and parts and tools are all the same

    • @Awizzo4shizzo
      @Awizzo4shizzo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sprenzy42 have you ever seen anything get made ever? Because there are vast differences in standard procedures and tooling from builder to builder, and especially from continent to continent. Large scale guitar production in the US or UK will be much more expensive. You've gotta factor in safety regulations, insurance requirements, and the availability of space and materials. All of that adds overhead that drives up end sales prices. Just look at the facility they tour in this video. It would be shut down or heavily fined due to safety concerns if it were in the US.

    • @dirtyoliver1180

      they get a wage appropriate to the scale of their economy and what their country produces/living standards - so probably upwards of 0.50 USD an hr. if they are able to get by in their country with that wage i do not see anything wrong with it. the third world will starve if the first world tanks, and our companies realize they can make more money having Indonesians do it for way cheap since the USD goes a long way over there. everyone is actually better off in this system; the first worlds gets to make more and more money and produce more (which means third world does not starve) and the Indonesians get access to million dollar factories their country does not have the means to produce, so that means their workers get to earn a wage appropriate to their living standards and economy at said factory the first worlds provides them with. They would not have these opportunities w/o the first world and would be working for the military sent to die in a 40 year old submarine that hasn't had a maintenance check in years.
      it is most certainly exploitation, let's not dance around it and say "oh the Indonesians do just such a good job that's why we're here". I do not doubt the Indonesians do a great job but the truth is they work for cheap because they did not develop like other countries so they get exploited by corporations and their own politicians. I'd prefer these factories to be in America or Britain being made by Americans and Brits getting high wages cause that's means better products and better economy for me - but that's at the expense of the third world's economy as well. Overall, this system works out and the first and third world both need each other.

    After stumbling across Rabea, yourself and the rest of the crew at Anderton's and watching damn near every video y'all have produced I decided to break the 23 year drought and buy a guitar... AGAIN! I settled on an American Strat HSS and Orange CR60. I am starting all over but I will succeed this time! At that point the collection will grow to two with the addition of a Chapman! I truly enjoyed the passion you not only have for music but for your company and the guitars you produce. I totally dig the way they sound and now seeing the quality and passion that goes into them I support you 100% Chappers!

      Nothing against Chapman in particular (sadly how most modern companies do it) but I think its pretty clear that the main reason to manufacture in Indonesia is cheap labour. Though I can't say exactly how much they are getting paid we should both be able to agree/assume that it would be practically nothing compared to similar work being done in US factories such as Gibson’s.

      Some areas (Paint, finish etc) you must wear protection, other areas it is up to the employee.
      WMI Indonesia is run under strict health and safety guidelines, this helps them work with other huge manufactures like PRS, ESP and Schecter.

    "No palace for an ego"
    Except:
    - Chapman effectively deciding what the ML-3 would be through his signature ML-3 RC
    - Chapman designing the new Ghost Fret entirely by himself.
    - Chapman re-designing the entire range after his own preferred specifications.
    - Chapman vetoing major decisions by the public "for the greater good"
    Yeah, entirely democratic.

    • @lmcf_gtr
      @lmcf_gtr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erik Nyberg he didn't redesign the range? Himself and many others took input from fans and designed guitars from that input. And he's allowed a signature or two, it's his company.

    • @ErikSWE
      @ErikSWE 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every single guitar in the range have major changes making them entirely different guitars from the voting process, changes made without consumer contact. No one's arguing against him having his own signatures or designs, he does however undercut the voting process every single time. Look at the ML-3: The public voted it to be a T-type, Chapman stopped the voting process and designed his ML-3 RC, released the signature and resumed the voting process with the condition that it be based on the RC-model (deep carved top and no possibility of a set neck to keep price down, for instance). As close as you get to the definition of "ego" clashing with the concept of collaborative design.
