Everybody says the degree doesn't translate well to the actual job, like some quirky disconnect we all just laugh about. That is not an intelligent way to structure nursing education, degrees should focus on reality instead of wasting time with essays & care plans. Hospitals don't need writing skills, they need on-the-spot critical thinking and practical skills.

I 100% agree. Especially with them care plans that don't translate well into the field cuz they aren't done on paper🙄

Funny how all I can obsess over is how nervous I am to start a job as a baby RN. I’m so scared… and then this was uploaded. I know it’s a sign of Gd communicating with me directly saying: it’s okay Hanna, you will be okay and I will be with you. You are NOT alone Hanna. THANK YOU GD. Thanks simple nursing also, for this upload.
Be strong new nurses, and learn everyday🖤

This could not have came at a better time. My first day is tomorrow as a grad nurse going into Cardiac Stepdown Unit. I am very nervous and am praying my new team is amazing and supportive. ❤

One thing I’ve noticed is a huge discriminatory aspect for those with previous experience and seeing that as a positive and not a detriment.
There’s a huge stigma and assumption in nursing that people with previous healthcare experience aren’t there to learn or be a part of the team.
EMS and nursing aren’t the same, but there are crossovers and those crossovers can streamline the process to competency and good work.

I’m a new grad in the OR. I could never do bedside, but if you do, go to a state that has unions, mandated ratios, and good wages. Good labor laws are important too. I went out of state for school and I couldn’t believe how different it is in other states.
