Nice shave and comparison between the two blades Sig. It took me all day to watch the whole thing due to being outside all day parking cars. Have a good one Brother and a wonderful weekend
Nice shave with three of my favourite products, the derby premium blades, the proraso cream and aftershave lotion. Enjoyed the video. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Thank you, Brother. After this vid was completed Proraso got back to me and told that there is in fact an After Shave Balm just released. I'll be using it in the very near future. The Premium is an ok blade. It works best for me clamped down really tight. so in a vintage adjustable Gillette razor or the Progress it doesn't work for me. But in a Rockwell 6 (S and C), Karve, and Henson it works great for me. Have a great weekend and Stay Safe!! 🤙
my Simpson T3 Trafalgar is the best brush on the market today it's like buying a $200 badger hair brush, no cleaning the brush, no need for a brush stand, fast drying time, well not fall apart like a badger hair can, cheap to buy, i have owned it for 5 years with know problems wheelchair Larry Merry Christmas tooooooooo all
I agree that it's in my top three of synth brushes/knots. Along with the G5B and the Cashmere knot.... Thanks for watching! Have an undurpassed week!! 🤙 #WAD
Thank you, Buddy!! The USTAs are fine blades. And the red 6S is just a fantastic razor!! Have a great shave with the USTAs!!! Have a great weekend and Stay Safe!! 🤙
Thank you very much, Buddy! Neither am I, but I had a good shave today. If the blade is properly clamped down in the razor it's ok for me. In a vintage adjustable Gillette or the Progress it would never work... The 6S is a fantastic!! Love it!! Have a great weekend and Stay Safe!! 🤙
I like the Derby premium in the twig razor, also use them in the Rockwell 6c, which I feel is a much smoother razor, as it glides across the face better than the 6s. Cheers🍻
Thank you, Buddy!! I prefer the Derby blades in a razor that clamps the blades down. Rockwell 6S/6C or Henson are great razor for the Derby blades!! Have a great weekend and Stay Safe!! 🤙
Great video, Sig! Thanks to Brent for facilitating! I haven't used the Usta. I find the Premium to be a decent blade, slotting somewhere in the middle of my selections - not my favourite, but not trash. I get along OK with the Extras, especially in a Tech; nothing to write home about, but they do the job. My wife swears by the Extras in her AS-D2 for all her shaving needs.
Thank you very much, Buddy!! I'm not a big fan of the Derby blades. I know Brent uses them a lot in his Henson razor. When I use them they need to be clamped down really good. So the 6S came into use. Summa summarum: The Derby gets the job done but are not in my normal rotation. This shave didn't change that. Have a great week! And Stay Safe!! 🤙
To try and prevent the tube surge after rolling the ends - before opening I tap the tube on the newly rolled end fairly aggressively. This moves any trapped air to the lid and it gets released without the contents coming along for the ride. My Mom taught me this trick for toothpaste, but it works great for Proraso tubes, too.
Hehe. Thank you for the advice. When it happened I actually had my Mom's voice inside my head saying kind of the same as you told me; only she was angry with for not remembering her advice... ;O) No more closed tube rolling!! ;O) Have a great week! And Stay Safe!! 🤙
Hey Sig, re the tube incident - I've done that as well. Proraso seems the most prone to that of the creams I have. I have the Extras and the Premiums and used them back to back in my Henson. The Premium was a bit better. I've read in some places that the two are the same, and in others that there is a difference (in the coatings I think). So I don't know if the difference I found was in my mind; that the blades are genuinely different; or I was just noticing a slight production variance. Either way, they are okay in medium aggressive and up razors but would never use either in a mild razor. No experience with Ustas. As for wrappers, they both look like Derby Extra wrappers to me. So maybe they just have one standard wrapper they use right across the entire line.
Thank you for your answer! Much appreciated!! I have to gp a little easier on my Proraso Tubes. I don't want it shooting out everywhere... :O) According to Derby they are the same; and the USTA is not. The USTA is not coated but double polished Stainless Steel. I don't know. But if they are not clamped down by e.g. a Henson razor they don't give me a good shave. Have a great weekend and Stay Safe!! 🤙
A nice shave my man! Proraso Red is my favourite out of all their offerings, love they sandalwood scent! For me, it would be without either Derby… they don’t like me, and I don’t like them lol. Have a great weekend brother!
Thank you, Brother!! I'm not a fan of Derby blades either. But I had multiple requests to do this comparison. The Proraso AS Balm has just been released Proraso wrote me (again) and will be used in a shave very soon... I ordered it from TOTC in Mafia-Country... ;O) Have a great weekend and Stay Safe!! 🤙
@@SIGSOLO you’re welcome bro! And yeah man, gotta give the fans what they want eh!! I had a green balm once, performed well, but the scent wasn’t the same as the lotion, but I’m confident the red balm will likely have that gorgeous scent! So far so good here bud!
@@SIGSOLO it sure is! Green is my next favourite after that, Blue is after that, and I’m not a huge fan of White… haven’t tried the newer fancy ones yet either though.
Hey Sig...great 👍 WOW shave No. 7. Cannot go wrong with a Proraso Red shave. The Sandalwood soap and matching splash is one of my favorites as well. My Black SS bowl only enhances the lather. For me the Derby USTA is a smoother shave than the Derby Extra. I have never tried the Derby Premium. There are people that do not like Derby blades; however, if they are clamped down they give me a very good shave. I have 14 shaves on the same Derby Extra in my Henson AL-13. Take Care and Stay Safe.
Thank you, Brother!! Much appreciated as always! Funnt thing: After the making and post production of this vid Proraso got back to me again. Glad you sent them to me!! Thank you!! 14 shaves on one Derby blade must be some sort of record? Have a great weekend and Stay Safe!! 🤙
@@SIGSOLO Do tell where you got the Proraso Red Balm? Is it the Proraso Wood and Spice Balm? I would like to order some as well. My next shave I will try number 15 on the same Derby Extra blade in my Henson. I have not shaved with my Henson for a long time.

Great shave Sig.. Great products all round.. Both great blades but the Usta wins in my opinion, there smoother to me but just as sharp as the Premium. Have a great weekend brother and stay safe;-)

I’ve been looking at these Darby Premium DE Blade for some time now to use in my travel razors, but I’ve been hesitant to buy them because of the mixed reviews and opinions. I primarily shave with Vintage Gillette Fatboy & Slim Razors, and I have a King C. Gillette Safety Razor I use primary for travel. Does anyone know if these blades perform well in these razors? Also I have a coarse beard and I generally shave daily, at most two days. I primarily use the Comfort Coated Personna Double Edge Razor Blades and the Astra Superior Platinum Blades and I’m very happy with them, but I thought about these to use in my travel razor and working in the field, camping, etc., because of the lower cost of these blades. Thank you, George Silver Hawk
Thanks, Buddy! Regarding blades: It's a very personal thing as with most razor blades. I find that the Derby blades are not as sharp and durable as a lot of my favorite blades. If you want cheap, sharp and more durable I'd pick the Treet Platinums. 3-5 shaves easily, sharper and better glide for me. You could also order a sample pack or some tucks from the razor blade club and test the ones out you have in mind... Thanks for watching! Have a great weekend and Stay Safe!! 🤙 #WAD
