I can relate to some of the things that was discussed. Since I got into Production Music, I was all over the place, spinning my wheels. I work a full time job, and that doesn't help at all. I tried short cuts, various genres, and looking for something fast and easy. I made up excuse after excuse for not getting things done. AND THEN...........last week, Scott came out with a video about keeping things simple. I watched it over, and over and focused on what he talked about. And ironically, he was composing a Funk track, as an example. Then I had to come to terms, with myself, and realize that all I REALLY know how to compose is Funk music. I've made attempts at other genres, but Funk is what I like the most, and what I feel most comfortable doing. I REALLY can't do other genres. I can try, but...................Anyway after watching that video, I composed a Funk track....IN ONE DAY!!! And I was halfway through another the next day. I would've finished but I had to celebrate my daughter's birthday. After all of these years, I think I FINALLY found my groove.
Panning, I just learned this with my mixing coach. Seems easy, but it took 5 years to realize how many instruments can fit into stereo field. Bootsy's latest track featuring Fantasia has everything and the kitchen sink. Panning, yes please. You're videos are always great Jesse. Nice to see Scott in pro feedback. Someday I'll be back, can't wait. Peace!'
been feeling really insecure about my music the last couple of days ,helps a lot to hear you guys say this ,I'm definitely uploading my first track tomorrow
Thanks for this. Especially the mental block issue. I have an invisible detriment to moving forward. But I still come back to see what you have to share because I still benefit on other levels.
That's certainly one approach that works! But you can also experiment with panning things from the orchestras POV. Try different things and see which one works best for you!

It's not just about stacking tracks it's about their mix within the entire "song". You can have a few layers mixed to be almost subliminal.
