Turians are still coping over the fact that THEM, the best martial race in the entire Milky Way got their ass beaten by the new kid on the block after attacking them unjustly and were forced to apologize.
@@alessiogiovannetti513True but we weren’t really in the all clear ourselves either. There’s a _very_ good fucking reason why no one activates dormant mass relay’s anymore, and we were bebopping across entire clusters just flipping every damn switch we could. What if we had fucked around and let the Yahg out into the galaxy? What if we had made contact with a Raloi and contracted that disease they all carry but are immune to? Pirates are still classified as "hostis humani generis" - enemies of mankind, and I doub't ithis will change in the future, so executing pirates is not a war crime, it's an obligation. Also, correction, other races didn't have a *dedicated* carrier, humans were first in that, they did have a wing or two stashed in their ships, but nothing of the sorts that can just vomit a stream of snubs at the enemy.

@@sumukhvmrsat6347 No, we developed actually good torpedoes. If we hadn't, our fighters wouldn't have been any threat to Citadel warships, regardless of number.
Cerberus is in ME1 as {spoilers below for Steve} basically a human supremicist spy organization gone bad. There are a number of missions where you basically have to go clean up after their unethical stuff, including the assassination of a general and creating EDI.
Another spoiler for Steve about Cerberus Around First Contact War Cerberus was just part of the System Alliance Intelligence for some black ops. More about this was in the comic book.
Humanity was the one to introduce CARRIERS as a ship class to the Galactic Community, and was their way to get around the Dreadnought restrictions of the Treaty of Faraxin!!!!!!!!!
We already had them. The other races had fighters but only as scouts or interceptors and in small numbers. We are unique in having our experience in ww2 and developing naval aviation warfare while the other species still relied on bug gun navies. In the first contact war our fighter squadrons overwhelmed the turian fleet and hit the key systems like shields engines and cannons.
@@cpob2013 Actually, the thing that made human fighters different was the development of reliable torpedos. The other races didn't have those. Our experience during WWII had nothing to do with it, and I find it rather pretentious that you assume said experience is unique.
An easy way to explain how we built so many ships? WW2 The liberty ship program. We built literally 1000's of 400 foot cargo ships. Hull, equipment, engines, bunks EVERYTHING. At an average speed of 2.5 weeks PER SHIP BER BERTH(We had 18 shipyards doing parallel building. Not sure how many berths.) The biggest limitation was not enough steel being delivered to the shipyard. The limitation wasn't even manpower. This was in 1944. This was just one nation, albeit a big one. Give 200 years advancement and an entire world with a focus like that and you could probably build just like that again, but with 40 shipyards. Battleship/dreadnaughts would take a bit longer. But if we had to, I can totally imagine a shipyard throwing one together in less than a year.
Well considering that space mineral harvesting would have ramped up, combined with the xenophobic sentiment it wouldn't be surprising if the alliance mobilized a shit ton of people to build them alongside the resources from outside of Earth Combine that with newly founded colonies, that need alloys for construction of infrastructure the production of said alloys cranking up would also be a natural thing
Ruthless isn't the only background associated with the Human Batarain conflict the Warhero background has you saving a colony, while colonists has you being a survivor of one of the raids
Well, the Alliance was only humanity's shield prior to the Reaper invasion of 2186. As Shepard puts it, Cerberus was meant to be humanity's sword, not a dagger in its back.
Im a filthy imperium of man enjoyer, but the systems alliance and their starship design is basically my peak vision of a space travelling human government
Why the Mako hate? I love that tank, and had a blast driving it. My best memory of it is when I got it stuck on it's roof and 'drove' it around by using jump jets until the game decided I had enough fun and teleported me right side up.
I kept them alive because I wanted to keep their fancy dreadnought alive, just to learn that in ME3 it does nothing other than appear for a few seconds in the final battle cutscene.
@@Drave_Jr. I didn't know that. I knew it appeared in the final game and wanted to actually see it shoot at something. They made it out to be the most powerful ship in the franchise after all. But it was not to be I guess.
We're just better at it. Krogan military doctrine boils down to Leroy Jenkins'ing in massed hordes towards what ever they don't like. Alliance doctrine, is more like Mohamed Ali's Rope-A-Dope tactic, of stringing out an opponent until they are exhausted, before going for the knockout.
I agree with the giant hand thing. The first scene where you see a Reaper descending on the marines in ME1, it looks like a titanic hand reaching down from the sky
An enjoyable review of the Human Systems Alliance. They are indeed one of the neatest forms of an Earth/Human sci-fi faction created. It'd have been interesting to hear more of this channel's thoughts on the ground doctrine and the command structure.
There are actual differences between the Alliance ships, if you really give them a look. they just have a very strong visual look to them. I just see it as like every tracked armored vehicle we have on the planet, to an alien they probably all look the same, but if you look at it a little closer, you'll see the differences.
But atleast , the designs should differ alot , like being thicker or thinner , longer , flater , or with modules , or gun emplacements should differ , a cruiser ,destroyer , frigate would need turrets for their fast Maneuverable flexibility, a dreadnought would just sit and spit deathfire , a carrier has open hangers , Armor plating and thickness should add to the ships bulkiness too , not a upsized downsized picture
@@sumukhvmrsat6347 in reality we have only seen 2 pure alliance ships, a dreadnought and cruiser. you have the Normandy, but she is a blend between the alliance and turians. the dreadnought has a different 'nose' section and is visually longer/stretched forward. there are 2 cruiser models, One called the Berlin class, the other is called the Geneva Class. they both have 2 modules, one on each of the 'Shoulders' and the ship has an exposed gun on the bow. Differences are in the 'nose' shape, One is from mass effect 1, the other is from mass effect 3. forgot which is which. The only real difference is one is the older cruiser being replaced by the other. They had to come up with a reason for the differences because us sci-fi nerds would notice. there are meant to be frigates and destroyers, but we havent seen them at all. hopefully we see some more in the new ME game!
I honestly would love a 4X game set after the Bad Destroy Ending of Mass Effect 3. With the galaxy in absolute tarters and now is everyone for themselves as the old and new empires rebuild after the end of the Reapers.
By far the most interesting system will be Sol, since at least 80% of Naval Assets are there. Will there be a big bloody fight for their peoples or is the New Citadel Council is established?
That wouldn't be possible, because the Mass Relays are destroyed in the Bad Destroy ending. It's gonna be a few thousand years before anyone starts doing any empire building.
@@addisonwelsh Didn't you watch the Video? Mass Effect Ships are perfectly able to go FTL without a Mass Relay. It's just nowhere near as efficient and it has the static build up problem. But you'd be perfectly able to build an interstellar empire. It'll just be more concentrated and the various races won't have the luxury of being picky when it comes to their colonies. So plenty of Domes on every rock with the bare minimum of gravity.
@@vi6ddarkking It's not just inefficient, it's slow. Non-relay FTL maxes out at fifteen lightyears per day. You're not going to be crossing the galaxy in a timely manner at that speed. Also, pretty much every planet was either under siege or occupied by the Reapers at this point. Their industry and infrastructure was in ruins. Combine that with the fact that some planets were likely reliant on resources being shipped from other worlds, and you're looking at a scenario where a few millions across the galaxy don't have access to the basic necessities of life. Some newer colonies are just outright going to starve. So again, we're not gonna be seeing any empire building for a long time.
@@addisonwelsh You truly have no concept of distance in Space. There are at least 65 stars under fifteen light years from Earth. And over a million with in a thousand light years. That's two and a half months distance, if you account for the time needed for static discharge at a planet's atmosphere. During the era of discovery we had empires running with travel and information lags greater than that. So yes it's a slow restart as everyone began rebuilding, but FTL speed isn't a problem.

I've seen a few people who create original designs for ME ships, though I'm pretty sure TH-cam will block it if I try to send you a link... that, and I lost all my links.
I've said it more than once... The only way that humans as a race will form up as a race is if there is some sort of external threat... Like aliens. Thank you Taurians for helping us get along!
despite how crazy things went on Torfan, the battle that likely kept the councilors up at night was the Skyllian Blitz. one of the major reasons that the council gave us all that favoritism isn't because of how we had so many ships. the council considered humanity a sleeping giant not because of the size of it's military but the size of it's civilian population. Humanity has the largest population of any race in the galaxy. 11 billion on earth alone with a large number of colonies both in and outside of citadel space. more over we likely spread into the colonies and planets of the other races. and while we have a rather large military force (though not at large as the turians) only 3% of the human population actively serve in the alliance miliatary. During the Blitz, we did the thing that the council had feared about us from almost day one. when we were attacked our civilians picked up guns and defended Elysium with their lives. they didn't fear our 330 million soldiers the feared what we might do with the remaining 10.7 billion potential soldiers we have that could potentially be activated at a moments notice.
Kinda. The Centauri “uplifted” humanity on a mistaken belief that Earth was the location a legendary lost colony. Earth curbstopmed the Dilgar, but as a part of a multi-species coalition. The first contact war with the Minbari almost ended with humanity’s extinction, but didn’t because plot reasons. Mass Effect is basically Mirror Universe Babylon 5. The Earth Alliance survived because of good will, diplomacy, and plot armor. The Systems Alliance survived because of they walk around carrying a big stick.

the other races may have started using carriers but only AFTER the alliance introduces them them to the galaxy. the carrier is a uniquely human invention ... kinda like medigel. but as others have said the Treaty of Faraxin wasn't imposed on the humans by the Turians. It has been the law of the land for over a thousand years when the Turians joined the citadel council after defeating the Krogan. the treaty essentially establishes the 5:3:1 ratio of dreadnoughts between the Turians: Council races: non-council races. this shifts the burden of defense on the turians from the other council races and ensures that no other non-council race like the krogan can attempt to take over the galaxy like the krogan did.
I prefer the mass effect alliance origin than the star trek federation origin. We built our own future rather than nuking ourselves to oblivion and getting uplifted by aliens.
Mass Effect: Babylon 5, but the Mirror Universe version. Humanity got shafted in the Mass Effect equivalent of the Washington Naval Treaty. So they just went IJN. Even the doctrine is similar to Kantai Kessen. Attrit the enemy to the point where you will win the decisive battle, then do the decisive battle.

However being more advanced at the time the lizard birds also had more military could have wiped out humanity in the end had the other two factions not get involved to stop the war.
As a whole, the fan made speculative art of post-3 ships for Mass Effect (especially Systems Alliance ships) have really stood out to me. I've seen this done with countless settings but its generally forgettable even if competent imo.
Why should Super mega dreadnought carry other dreadnought, like a Starfighter needs carrying because , they don't have jump \ warp drives or long time fuel and weapons , they just go brrr and come back reload refuel and go brr again , dreadnought don't need another dreadnought to carrythem , unless they are a shipyard or dockyard or repairship It's like , a bigasse man carrying another big asse man , Only reason could be as a transport like how a Amphibious assault ship carrier tanks , there should be a good reason for a dreadnought to carry another dreadnought ,
Still not sure about fighters in space due to how they're all moving through the same medium. Although I guess eggshells with hammers might apply here.
I think the reason they are supposed to work in ME is because the main guns are in fixed positions facing forward because of how big they are. This means that PD are a lot weaker letting the fighters be able to outmanuever the larger ships.
Masseffect is just too dumb Bomb pumped fission lasers can penetrate masseffect fields... and so any fighter can take out a dreadnaught... But humans for some reason completely forgot how to make them... The masseffect railguns used by the alliance could have shot plutonium warheads where the impact on hit would compress and cause fission... or they could shoot hydrogen ice rounds which would fusion... Thousands of times the energy per impact... Now I know its a game... but they hired actual physicists to work out the "science" behind the mass effect technology... and no one said... wait a minute... just shooting solid slugs is dumb, we can do far better with masseffect fields.
There is not enough time for the bomb to explode , the railgyn or coildgun or mass driver shell is either already fine atomic dust or at the edge of the star system or planetary orbit 😂🎉 , and railguns can miss , you don't want your nuclear or antimatter bomb to miss and go somewhere anywhere in that direction into space right , that's why missiles and torpedoes are for
@@sumukhvmrsat6347 Fission chain reaction happens at the speed of light for all intense and purposes. Masseffect dreadnaught rounds travel at 1.3% light. Greater the speed of the projectile, greater the efficiency of fission due to greater compression. Their is no chemical explosive if that is what you think, its not needed as a primer, the impact itself provides the projectile with the force needed to begin fission. These speeds are also sufficient for fusion of hydrogen if used in specially shaped container.

I mean it is a sensible approach. Sure these aliens might be humanoid but who’s to say they don’t view biting someone’s nose off as a greeting? Or maybe they’re like the Klingons and just like punching people in the throat for no other reason beyond “gurgling sound funny”
If Javik had been pissed off, they probably wouldn’t have outright killed him, but those guns weren’t loaded with blanks either. Tranq shots maybe, or Stun-shots.
First Contact War was the Turians going "We haven't done war crimes in a while, lets get going boys!"
You were totally right about the first contact war. It’s why the turians had to pay reparations. Any pro Turian arguments made in game is just a disguise for hurt pride, distrust of humanity or denial of an easily preventable mistake.
So much could have gone wrong, and in that moment, the Turians just panicked. They knew what they were doing wasn’t exactly diplomatic, but they still remembered the Rachni Wars and the Krogan Rebellions, and they did not want a repeat of either.
So basically they had Starfighters in name only , like , yes we do have Starfighters, but the alliance gave their enemies nightmares of starfighter swarms in sleep
@@sumukhvmrsat6347 No, we developed actually good torpedoes. If we hadn't, our fighters wouldn't have been any threat to Citadel warships, regardless of number.
23:58 -- It was at that moment that I realized that Mass Effect is really "East India Company Simulator"
Cerberus is in ME1 as {spoilers below for Steve}
basically a human supremicist spy organization gone bad. There are a number of missions where you basically have to go clean up after their unethical stuff, including the assassination of a general and creating EDI.
Another spoiler for Steve about Cerberus
Around First Contact War Cerberus was just part of the System Alliance Intelligence for some black ops. More about this was in the comic book.
To quote Joker on the matter "Hey Commander, one of our experiments got out and killed a bunch of our guys, can you go take care of that for us?"
@@cpob2013 this is probably obvious, but most of the other race likely kept most of their fighters either on bases, carriers or dreadnoughts.
Not sure how many berths.)
The biggest limitation was not enough steel being delivered to the shipyard.
Well considering that space mineral harvesting would have ramped up, combined with the xenophobic sentiment it wouldn't be surprising if the alliance mobilized a shit ton of people to build them alongside the resources from outside of Earth
Combine that with newly founded colonies, that need alloys for construction of infrastructure the production of said alloys cranking up would also be a natural thing
Like the fat electrician cameo
Why the Mako hate? I love that tank, and had a blast driving it. My best memory of it is when I got it stuck on it's roof and 'drove' it around by using jump jets until the game decided I had enough fun and teleported me right side up.
9:50 implies that SI never lets the council live... fair
There is neither gain or penalty for doing so really. Focusing on Sovereign is the correct choice.
I kept them alive because I wanted to keep their fancy dreadnought alive, just to learn that in ME3 it does nothing other than appear for a few seconds in the final battle cutscene.
@@Seresh-j8m Destiny Ascension is actually weaker than the asset total lost from the unbroken fleets from the Alliance.
@@Drave_Jr. I didn't know that. I knew it appeared in the final game and wanted to actually see it shoot at something. They made it out to be the most powerful ship in the franchise after all. But it was not to be I guess.
@@AKloverI mean you do get them admitting they were wrong to not trust Shepard in the third game.
Somehow we have a reputation of being more violent than Krogans.
WTF, A RECOMMENDATION ON RELEASE! I'M ACTUALLY EARLY?!
Batarians suck because they were just crybabies when the council told them slavery is not allowed and then blamed humans for it.
This is for Steve's lunch.

12:55 my only regret for the Mass effect universe is that the starships were so nearly copy/paste per race.
Trying to figure out the diversity of spaceship configurations to match the diversity of in-universe fluff-text of roles and classes was a doozy.
Yeah , so much potential yet so less creativity
I've seen a few people who create original designs for ME ships, though I'm pretty sure TH-cam will block it if I try to send you a link... that, and I lost all my links.
Well, can't blame the game devs for taking shortcuts when they had so many ships to make for fleet scenes.
@@RomLoneWolf23 Yeah can't blame them for the shortcut , but they can't blame any other fact for less fanbase and shipgeeks popularity for the game
I've said it more than once... The only way that humans as a race will form up as a race is if there is some sort of external threat... Like aliens.
Thank you Taurians for helping us get along!
Fuck the Batarians, the Elcor are alright by me though. The Elcor diplomat in ME1 was chill.
Glad you're better. Happy to see a new upload. Would have loved to have seen the original, but I'll take content when I get it.
Please make a video about the military structure of the Alliance and possibly the other races
despite how crazy things went on Torfan, the battle that likely kept the councilors up at night was the Skyllian Blitz. one of the major reasons that the council gave us all that favoritism isn't because of how we had so many ships. the council considered humanity a sleeping giant not because of the size of it's military but the size of it's civilian population.
Hooray, we’re getting into Mass Effect lore!
Mako is awesome hands down
The System Alliance's first steps onto the galatic stage sounds almost exactly like Earth Force and Babylon 5
MASS EFFECT CONTENT LETS GOOOOO
That Batarian insult was DIABOLIC!

The music from FTL is a nice touch and very appreciated.
Also, please do the video on the ranks of the Systems Alliance.

You should do a video on the Citadel Council and its member races and their utter incompetence!
Damn. I don't really like the batarians either but I still didn't want to drop that mass relay on them 😆 and I least tried to warn the colony.

It's been awhile since I've dives into ME lore but if I recall correctly, the Council was less scared of the Alliance Navy and more afraid of its potential. I have a vague recollection of codex entry labeling the Alliance as a "sleeping giant" because it's a volunteer fighting force and only about 3% of humans volunteer. End result is probably the same but I felt like noting that.

It's literally a Saudi-US and Houthis situation
It's literally an Israel and Syria, Iran, HAMAS, Hezbollah situation

For the sake of accuracy, the phrase "Possession is nine-tenths the law" actually means that if you are caught in possession of something that does not belong to you, that is 90 percent of the case AGAINST you. So many people use that phrase without understanding what it truly means. lol
19:19 Nice Robbie Williams reference 👌
Hey, the Mako excelled in achieving this: it made the ME Milky Way _feel_ big without having to make the ME Milky Way actually _be_ big.
arcturus is big and important enough that multiple fleets call it home (fleets 1, 3, and 5.) the 63rd scout flotilla is a frigate flotilla that makes up the 5th fleet. it is commanded by the read admiral mikhailovich the admiral that insists on inspecting your ship in me1.
Pls do the Andromeda Initiative as well. I know not alot of people liked ME:A, but I am not one of those. I really liked that game. Wished they would have stuck with it. And yes, there is ALOT of lore hidden around. Enough to put into a 40 minute video.
4:05 this is why to watch the video other then intersting/don't remember the story stuff fully now either apparently.
The naval treaty was actually created after the krogan rebellions if I recall. Humanity was added to it after the 🥇 rat contact war.
Just wanted to let you know, the Illusive man does have a Backstory! It's only in the comics though so hard to track down.
the other races may have started using carriers but only AFTER the alliance introduces them them to the galaxy. the carrier is a uniquely human invention ... kinda like medigel. but as others have said the Treaty of Faraxin wasn't imposed on the humans by the Turians.
Where did you find all these Mass Effect pictures of Alliance Vessels????
There is a back story for the illusive man, just not in the games, the Mass Effect comics that Dark Horse did gave a backstory for him I believe.
I prefer the mass effect alliance origin than the star trek federation origin. We built our own future rather than nuking ourselves to oblivion and getting uplifted by aliens.
Yeah , even if we got nuked to oblivion and uplifted by aliens , we gonna nuke someone else sooner than going peaceful

Ok but what about a super mega dreadnought that carries dreadnoughts.
You mean shipyards 😂🎉 ,(I'm joking , ) you mean battle moons?
Why should Super mega dreadnought carry other dreadnought, like a Starfighter needs carrying because , they don't have jump \ warp drives or long time fuel and weapons , they just go brrr and come back reload refuel and go brr again , dreadnought don't need another dreadnought to carrythem , unless they are a shipyard or dockyard or repairship
It's like , a bigasse man carrying another big asse man ,
Only reason could be as a transport like how a Amphibious assault ship carrier tanks , there should be a good reason for a dreadnought to carry another dreadnought ,

It took me a while to get that the video is about Mass Effect. Never played the series.

Masseffect is just too dumb
Bomb pumped fission lasers can penetrate masseffect fields... and so any fighter can take out a dreadnaught...
