Mmmm, not exactly Ford Motor Company was thinking of releasing a 5.0L V8 in a new version/generation of their Taurus interceptors and Explorers
fiddlestix1117 a 5.0 would be badass in a Taurus, but I heard they were discontinuing the Taurus in the US. the Explorers are doing very well, wouldn't be surprised if Ford moved away from offering a police sedan altogether

I have a Blacked out 08 CVPI out of Texas ...it has none of that red button stuff. I love my car and am pouring money into it. New breaks, tires shocks, struts . $800 AC blend actuator service (Ouch!) so far, Next is Exhaust upgrade and a 500$ Macco spcl. It was a supervisors car had only 117k miles and no holes! Before owning one I never thought Id Love it! in fact it was a $3,500 2nd car I needed that fit the family. It took all of a month and I was Loving it! 2 years latter I,m still in love! If I could afford it, I would do a 5.0 Coyote swap!

Those ignition override switches are nice. I have them on my ambulances. and In our medic trucks. Used for when you get on scene, you can keep the engine running and keep the keys with you. If you hit the brake when the key is out and that is engaged, the car should just shut off. Some also make the horn sound if you hit the brake without the key in the ignition. It's especially nice where you live because you can keep the A/C running. Wish we had that on our 08 Vic for my Squad.

If you pull the panel off the trunk release button is, located under there is another plug that is powered all the time, so you don't need to have the key on to open the trunk, you just switch plugs behind the switch. Also some have traction control, but no switch to activate it, Its all wired up and works, just Ford did not put the switch in if the municipality didn't pay for the option, even know all " the stuff " is there in the car. You do have to buy the switch.

I had a 2005 CVPI (past tense, as it was stolen): Many P71s are keyed alike. Buyer beware. Mine was stolen from a park and ride lot in broad daylight in Castro Valley, California. I later learned that is was common for PDs to order them all keyed alike. I don't think I have the key anymore (they never found the car), so I cannot say for sure. But it makes a lot of sense.

You can add keyless entry just by swapping out the driver door module for one from a 2009-2011 CVLX or MGM.

With the idle system, all you have to do is press the brake to disengage the system and shut the vehicle off. Also, you can just hit the brake while the key is removed to shut the vehicle down as well. My last department had the same system and that's how it worked on our vehicles.

1 Put the car in park
2 press the button
3 Switch off ignition
4 remove key
It will also disable the car from being started if you switch the car on and press the button and remove the key
If you don't put the key in the on position and shift it out of park it will die

Haha you mentioned the headrests. I just purchased a 2011 CVPI last month and I absolutely love the seats but having said that, I can't get over how bad the blind spots are because of the headrest. My only complaint but you're right they are some comfortable.
Nice vic made me remember back when I was on my way home from high school few yrs ago I had my stereo system up loud and I pulled up behind an unmarked, light brown Vic at a stop sign next thing I know he lights me up and makes a hand gesture to turn my music down when I did he gave me a thumbs up and pulled off
The front round light is your ticket light, the hole farther back is where the stock dome light is mounted!
Dome light and ticket light is the other way around. You're missing the dome light. Plus hit the brake pedal with the key out on the secure idle in order to shut it down.
Never thought I'd like an older cop car. That thing is sick. Good job finding that thing!
usually the keyless idle cars will turn off as soon as you hit the break pedal with the key out, to avoid anyone to drive the vehicle away. Then you can get the key in and turn on the vehicle as usual.
also the system should turn off by itself by just getting the key back in the on position and pressing the break pedal or just driving, there's no need to press the button again unless you want to activate the system again.

Polecat, you can also turn the secure idle off by pressing the brake pedal, although it will turn the engine off as well. The paramedic flycar I drive for work has secure idle to keep certain medications in a climate controlled environment.

Wow, I'm impressed with the amount of equipment left in the vehicle. AFAIK when police vehicles are sold off in the UK all police equipment is removed, generally leaving a lot of holes where radios etc were.
A friend of mine did once see a police traffic car he'd been involved in a crash in a few months later in civilian hands. Despite the fact that the crash wrote it off! :-)

there is a button on the driver side inside at the bottom that is used to open the gun locks if you was wondering....
Big fan of the CVPI, hope to be able to get one from my local department when they go to auction it. Though I'm more fond of the Setina wrap-around. Looks really good and mount a really nice set of fog lights to it give it some character.

That engine is HELLA clean. loving it
i believe all fords after a certain year have keyless its just a matter of buying remotes & programing them... fords are easy to program... turn key to accessorie position, cycle between on and accessorie position 10 times door locks will lock & unlock press lock on key pad door locks will lock & unlock turn key off remote is programmed... i believe them can store up to 4 remotes.
If im not mistaken, if you click the button next to the boton holder, it actually releases the shotgun mount, if it still works
To disengage the security, all you have to do is turn the key into the on position and put your foot on the brake. The next time you turn the key off it will shut the car off.
you can find out if it has keyless simply by attempting the programing procedure & it the doors lock & unlock oafter cycling the key 10 times it has keyless & the remotes are cheap on ebay... the sedans i believe take the 4 button remotes

Polcecat, you should totally get a an Audio jack adapter for the Mic and use it for DOJ. (Yes this will actually work, I've done it with a Code 3 Mic before using an Audio mixer)
To take the secure idle off you dont need to put it back in drive then park.....just tap the brake pedal and the vehicle should shut off.

My friend has one that had 24,000 miles on it (2011, nearly identical look!), the department he bought it from said they ordered it for reserve units, then they didn't need it any more as they a Chevy Caprice Vehicle (The thing is FAST!)
HE still drives it to this date, has about 75,000 miles on it and he has only had one issue with it (muffler fell off when he hit a little bump). Obviously the normal wear and tear, but no major issues.
I wish Polecat would do a walkaround with his current vehicles, I'd love to see one of the Hellcat and the Explorer.
i used to have a 2003 CVPI. it was rpugh, but for $800, it ran and drove. i want to find one with the two spotlights, but they are rare in my area.

The red button is an anti-theft device. To use it, you have to put the cv in park, push the button and take out the key. To shut it off with the key out and the anti-theft engaged, all you have to do is step on the brake. See, most cars won't let you place the car in drive without putting you foot on the brake. The anti-theft device takes advantage of this safety features in cares.
