      @Richard Harrold We plan to film that story for a 'Life in Cars' video that will eventually appear on JayEmm On Cars... In short - my parents are both from overseas... First my mum decided to return to her country of origin when I was 12/13 years old... then when I was 18 my dad returned to his country of origin. I stayed as prospects there weren't great in my chosen field. I worked really hard, put myself through uni doing something I loved - computing - got a job in IT and did reasonable well at it... started a business or two... nearly lost it all a couple of times... pulled it back and survived. But, as they say, the devil is in the details.... and that will be in the video we film in a few months hopefully. Thanks for watching!

    Great video! I went in the showroom at least twice in my life and I met some great salespeople there and as a teen, I wondered how I would raise the £35,000 back in 1983 to buy a 411 myself!!

    Loving the Bristol features. These cars are so rare especially the later ones that you don’t like so much!!! Way under valued for quintessential handmade quality. More please, you can come and drive my Bristol Blenheim in Houston if you like!

      Well, the 404 just had more character, but I didn't dislike either... I like both, I just liked the 404 more 😁
      We'll keep it in mind if we're ever near Houston!

    Love the review, cars like these from this decade bring on deep emotions, I was lucky enough when 9 years old to behold and fall in love with a Jensen interceptor when the chairman of a building site pulled up in this jaw dropping silver interceptor, and approached my brother's and myself to keep our eyes on his building site, and paid us 60p each cash to keep it tidy, no health & safety back then (LOL), I've owned two Saab turbos 2002 hatchback & a convertible and driven my mate's Red Lotus Espirt but can't get that Jensen interceptor out of my mind, what a wonderful car.

    I lived about 500 yards away from the showroom. I was the oich often found with my nose pressed against the window of the showroom, much to the disgust of the people within.
    What I always loved that they happily sold the old cars alongside the latest model.
    Still can't afford one though 😋😭

      @Richard Harrold I've been poor, I've seen and been among the rich... And I'm not anywhere near what I'd describe as rich... Nowhere near the resources that would even make tax avoidance economical even if it was something I'd do. But I'm doing ok, and always striving to achieve more. And I can explain every penny, from every drop of blood, sweat and tears.

    Great feel-good video. Why did you wait all this time to release it?

    • @sportzntouring
      @sportzntouring ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked it. Well, there's a lot that happens between filming and releasing... Editing is the major part. This one had some extra editing overheads. There were distracting technical and time related challenges on the day that compromised my in-car dialogue delivery and that needed extra work during the editing process. All in this took a good several long days to edit. So, we had to wait until we felt the release schedule could either take a hit or we had enough completed videos in the release pipeline to give me the space to edit it... I'm glad of the delay as it happens... Since filming this, we've changed the software we both use for editing *and* I've developed a lot as an editor, accelerated by James's guidance... I don't think I could have achieved this result 6 months ago. I'm very very happy with the result now (save for a few things I might do differently if money and time were infinite).

    Love this. I have a connection to Bristol cars as well. Not as personal as Ant's but it's very real to me. My dad grew up in Bristol and during WW2, he was evacuated to Salisbury because Bristol was being bombed because warplanes were being built there. My granddad and grandmother both worked in the aircraft factory making those planes. After the war, the company turned to making cars & the results were the cars in the video. I've always had a hankering for one as well. One day.....

    (411) Hillman Super Minx rear lights (1962-6), with a failed off-side brake bulb. 😄 The 404 is like an Aston DB2/4. The joy of a straight 6.

For JayEmm fans who want a bit more behind the scenes and deeper connections with the people and the cars behind JayEmm On Cars videos.
