My family used to be an oil distributor. We had stations and mini markets in five states. You really don't make any money from fuel sales. Your money comes from the sales in the mini market. Buc-ees justifies all of this by the huge indoor sales. Americans drive long distances. We always planned our stops on trips by who had decent food, restrooms, and when our kids were young...a play area. Buc-ees gives you a shot at clean restrooms, decent food, snacks to take, a chance to stretch your legs, and toys to bribe your kids for the next leg of the trip.

LOL not only does a Buc-ee's have "that much traffic", but at busy times like on a Saturday afternoon they're absolutely packed wall-to-wall with hundreds of people. The amount of cash flow they generate see must be astonishing.

But my daughter & her family went to the one I think in Seiverville TN one while on vacation & were very overwhelmed. I hate crowds but I actually ignored the crowd because I was so impressed with the store which is saying a lot for me. It was mostly in the food area. Once we got into the other area it was a lot better

They have Buc-ee's in different states across the South, it is home based in Texas. These gas stations are located near major traffic points, like the interstate highway system with large volume of cars passing through.

People outside of North America underestimate the sheer size of North America. Our travel distances are huge. We routinely do rode trips in excess off 200 or 300 miles. That is roughly 4 to 6 hours of driving nonstop. We typically spend 6 to 12 hours on the road. There is not just Buc-eyes, there is Pilot, Luv’s , Wawa, Sheetz’s, Royal Farms. There are also various Travel Plaza’s. Cars are a huge part of North American life because of the distances

This is the Buc-ee's location in New Braunfels, Texas. It is about 15 miles away from my front door. I go by all the time for gas as they have some of the best gas prices in town. They also have over 100 gas pumps so you almost never have to wait.
The Store is always busy but they have about 65 - 100 employees working at any one time so it is very well organized chaos. It is an incredible place and a must-not-miss stop when visiting. It is not a place to go for your regular groceries but is ideal for Buc-ee's branded special items.
An interesting fact is that they are a gas station and not a truck stop, big rigs are not allowed to park in the lot. The parking lot has about 1000 parking spaces but no big rigs are allowed. Also, they have amazing food but are not a restaurant, they have no seating inside or out. You purchase your food and eat in your car! I LOVE IT!

If you've never been to the US you can't imagine just how many gas stations are needed across the country and I can assure you that there are.tes throughout the day where finding a gas pump open might be difficult because of how busy it is. Getting in a car for a 2 hour commute somewhere is a small outing but in the UK a 2 hour trip in any direction will have a person driving into the sea. Lol

My most recent Buc-ee's anecdote. I went up to Arkansas for a brief family gathering, including cousins from Illinois. I bought a bagful of Buc-ee's stuff for my sister, who I figured had never been to one. When I met up with her first thing she says is "Cousin Brenda discovered this travel place called Buc-ee's, ever heard of it? They can't stop raving about it!" A week later my sister texted me about the planned first Buc-ee's in Arkansas -- it'll be two hours away from my sister's home but she insists she's going to be the first customer 🤣

They do have that much traffic. Generally the goal is to always have a free pump but during high travel days I've seen it properly full. They set off with the intention to make a safe and clean stop. There's also a crazy amount of bathroom stalls and it's very clean.

Honestly at this point I don’t see the need for new records. Luling doesn’t carry any more merchandise, probably doesn’t do any more sales, it just has a large amount of open floor space (and in the newest Buc-ee’s they do not have those ordering kiosks).

There are smaller Buc-ee's in larger towns that are truly more like a nice convenience store. But the idea was to build a nice place for travelers to stop between large cities. As each one was built, they tried to make it larger than the last. Oh darlin's there is an airport in EVERY State! In fact, every State has an International Airport except Nebraska, Arkansas, Delaware, S. Dakota and
    W. Virginia! So you have 45 states to choose to fly into!! Just FYI - from Austin, Tx (where Terry Black's is) to New Orleans, Louisiana is 512 miles - which is about an 8 1/2 hr drive.... There is a Buc'ee's just outside of Austin!! So if you plan a trip I would suggest you plan on staying around the Austin area (which is the eastern side of the state) and you can drive to San Antonio (beautiful city) and Waco even up to Dallas (about a 3 hr drive) - and you can do Louisiana once you have seen Texas - to try to take on more of Texas in one trip....unless you only want to see Texas would be rough...keep in mind England fits into Texas 3 times!!

Will you wait for the next Buc's or stop at a place with high prices, filthy bathrooms, & stale food? A Kolache is a Czech sweet pastry.
