  • In addition to the hay which we bale ourselves, we also get a paddock made into silage/baleage each year. We don't have the equipment needed for this - so we get in the pros! Here's what the process looks like, and a flash-forward to us in winter feeding out the delicious "sauerkraut for cows".

Glad to see a new vid. Hope things are going well. Several farms here in Illinois, USA use the same method for preserving their haylage.

How big of a farm do have ? I'm really like your your TH-cam they are real good. I'll have never seen anyone put the hay against them fence to keep it from getting tramppled!

You made some cows? very happy! I like the slow speed tractor. Is that feeding method something you came up with right from the start, or did you have a light bulb moment?

insightful video, can the bales be stored inside a barn after wrapping ? or they need to be in the sun

    • @BacktotheLand

They can be stored anywhere! The wrapping means they can be stored outside in the rain unlike hay so most people do that for the convenience (and not wasting barn space), but they can be barn stored too.

Have you thought about not making silage in bales but rather piles? Would save you getting the other guys to make it
