dude- that commentary around 20:00 is genius. i couldn't quite place how this lessened the dangers of his own journey in comparison to others before him, but you summed it up so well- thank you!
Love getting really specific feedback like this. Helps me drill in on those moments that really resonate with my viewers/fellow students/fans of the story. Much appreciated. I’ll keep this type of commentary coming (within reason!)
i’ve been watching your videos for into the wild and i just want to say your accents and input in every chapter really make the book more engaging!! Thank you for making these:)
Wow, thank you! 🙏 I appreciate this feedback. More than anything, I wanted the people to sound distinctive from each other. I was surprised just how many different people/voices John Krakauer brought into the book! It was a lot of fun to attempt and I’m glad you think I helped add to your enjoyment of this important story. All the best to you!
This book is so good.. I keep pulling for the hicker/journey man until the bitter end.. We all know how this book ends but I keep cheering for the underdog. Like the end will somehow change🤷♀️ Thank you again as always for your dramatic reading.
My pleasure, Rebecca. I really appreciate Jon Krakauer going into these mini stories of others who have taken similar journeys (with their own unique circumstances and motivations). It’s kindof what the audience is reading the book for (tales of survival/near survival in the harsh wilderness/daunting circumstances) and I think he felt (rightly) we could use a break/zoom out at this point in the book to set a larger context around our star Chris so we can appreciate all the more the kindof….strange brotherhood that people like Chris was a part of. Makes the story a larger story than just Chris’s story. It’s an American story. I dunno that’s just what I felt after reading this out loud to you all! Thanks for continuing to listen and for the support! Cheers 🥂
doing this for school and you have saved me. I have put it in 2x speed bc it just works better for me and it helps so much. With someone with adhd u have helped so much with the commentary and just in general thank you!
I’m glad to hear there are fellow ADD/ADHD folks who enjoy this style and actually find the stops and side commentary to be helpful encouragement! Speed me up, no worries. 😌 I hope you enjoyed the rest of the story and got a good grade!
originally i wasnt really intreested in this book for english but as we did the first chapter i immideatley fell in love and now im watching your videos on my own time since the commentary makes me make my notes even longer and better, helps me understand more to
That's great! It’s such a good story! Glad you found me and REALLY glad to hear when any of my random observations/outbursts about the story actually helps someone with their assignment! Best of luck and thanks for commenting
Due to working outside school nearly daily, your videos are saving me in my English class! (I’ve seen other comments like this so it seems ubiquitous) I’ve always listened to essays on TH-cam but your varying voices, commentary, and genuine care for this story makes me want to try audio books on a regular basis. Thanks for inspiring a new listener!
That’s great you’re discovering the power of audio books. It really enhances the story and your understanding of it. Thanks for your words of support. I really do appreciate it.
i’m reading this book for my ap english class and ur readings are helping me understand ideas in the book so much better! especially when u give some commentary that shows me another perspective ! thank you for these. subscribed ! 😊
This is a fantastic book. I really love it. I shed a couple of tears in this chapter. It is very sad that he thought he was rescued and then to die like that. If he only knew to lift up both arms he would have been rescued. I felt very badly for him. You are doing a great job reading this book. I am enjoying your work.
Thank you for sharing. This book really touched me emotionally as well and it’s been really rewarding to hear from others where it is doing the same. thanks for your feedback and positive support of my presentation of the story. I look forward to hearing from you as we move towards the end!
I relate to Waterman in a way. After completing something difficult, I will tend to just ramp it up to the next step of difficulty haha. I enjoy your commentary that comes along with your reading :). My semester final will be on this book, thanks for helping out🎉
Agreed can relate to Waterman and to you in terms of seeking that next mountain peak (real or proverbial) once you've mastered the last one. Thanks for the feedback and support. If I or any of the subscribers watching these (most of whom are also working on this for school, turns out!), just drop us a question or comment based on your assignment and happy to provide ideas. Glad the commentary has been helpful to you and please feel free to take and run with any of it for your assignment if you like!
love this book and your reading, reading this for junior year of hs ib english, and its inspiring me to set off on my own Alex Supertramp adventure to find myself in the wild, after highschool that is… THANK YOU FOR YOUR READING
Glad to hear from you Brody and I know how you feel! I felt the same way! Obviously, keep in touch with your family along the way (I think the book really drives that home) but I’m glad you’re enjoying my reading and this epic tale. Thanks for commenting and best of luck on your assignment!
Really glad to hear it. I know there’s a few different audio options already out there to hear this story all the way through as-is. I figured I would add some value (hopefully) by giving it an extra-enthusiastic reading delivery and some occasional live reactions, so I could connect with you better and impart some of my own enthusiasm for this author’s work on others. Glad to hear IT’S WORKING 👏🤝
You certainly can! I meant to get back to you days ago. It’s like a “static lamp” that I bought at a Spencer’s Gifts back in college (is that mall chain still around??) but anyways that’s what it is. If you touch it the static in the class goes towards your finger etc. very fun. 🤓
Hey I’m here for you guys. I think this is an incredible human story told by a gifted author and I’m glad I could lend my voice to these words and help you access an important piece of the American experience, as it were. Hope you get a good grade! Cheers
Thank you for sharing your reactions to the material! There are those who say madness and genius are very closely related. Hope you enjoyed the rest of my reading. Be well!
i need to read this for my english class and its midnight. please dont make extra commentary bc its taking time away from the actual book. i just need to read the words in the book
I hear ya. Good luck. I think if you’re in a rush there are other versions on TH-cam or audible you could listen to, I tried to provide a little something different here. I hope you go back and read the book again when you have more time. Worth it!
I agree. I wish I could go back and edit out just a few. Hopefully you’ll find I reign it in for subsequent chapters (except for Chapter 12 where I turn it on a bit more, but I think my points were better made and better sewn in on 12 than here). Thanks for a gentle comment, I love all the feedback. Hope you enjoy the rest and please leave me a comment at the end about what you thought!
Ha I have been to Texas a couple times but probably not long enough to really have the various regional accents fully rub off on me. But point taken! 😊
Ooomph yeah but I appreciate someone at least bookmarked it for me. THANK YOU for bearing with me through those trip ups. I tried to keep them and my outbursts/side commentary to a minimum but, as you see, sometimes can’t be helped, ha ha. I can’t recall if my teachers reading to us in school did any better, but I tried! 🤣
Yeah this chapter I was particularly talkative. Sorry. Hope you still grind through it. There will be more. Otherwise I know there are other options out there of course. Cheers.
@@NickSalvatorielloPlease do not listen to this comment!! I have a hard time processing a lot of audiobooks and intaking information from novels on general, so the commentary is very helpful in staying continuous with whats going on. Theres plenty of other audiobooks where people just read the book, yours is unique and the commentary is incredibly helpful!
The commentary is actually really helpful. Only reason why it wouldn't be is if you're, for some reason, in a hurry, such as in a class that you're reading the book in, and you didn't read the chapter. The commentary helps us know what's going on a bit more 👍
@@NickSalvatorielloCommentary definitely helps! I am reading this for a class and it feels like every time I am having a hard time grasping something you make comments that help. The commentary makes you unique, if someone were looking for no commentary maybe they should try audible. Also your voice is perfect for this book.
Keep up with the commentary please! It helps my brain stop and process and it helps with my ADHD lol! Thank you for the different accents too!
Awesome! It helped me too (even while I was reading 😜). Thanks for letting me know. 🤝
Your commentary helps so much with processing the different ideas in the book , great videos
Glad you think so, Jade! I appreciate your feedback! 😊

Cool, I just wrote Nick jans a nice Note😂
😁
Thanks for reading, but my suggestion is to leave off the accents. You've obviously never been to Texas :) But regardless, I'm enjoying the audiobook.

Honored! 🐐
24:12 worst stutter in the series so far lol, love this book though
