Ha ha gotta keep the parent- reader cred. But yes glad someone else appreciated that the author did this. And I think it kindof makes it more realistic. I didn’t mind that the rats and mice wore clothes in the animated movie (even Mrs Frisby and her family were clothed, though they had never been to the lab) but it makes me appreciate this contrast to the original book/the author’s illustration choices all the more!

Agreed! I like the insights! Definitely a contrast from where he started as a leader (both as a person and literally the element he was leading on: ship to ship on the water vs. dragon to dragon in the air!). Also agree that one thing I really admire about how the author did this character = what you said. He doesn't ask his crew to do anything he wouldn't be willing to do himself, if he could. Leaders go first (where they can)

It provides a really cool contrast, right? By giving this dragon’s outsiders perspective, helps shed new light on all these human conventions/traditions covered in the book. And yeah it’s cool to see how Lawrence’s unconventional approach to being Tameraire’s rider is like, actually what this dragon needed to be at its best. Thanks for sharing.
