My favorite part of this video is when he talks about going to the comic book store every week with his father and brother to buy comics - what wonderful childhood memories collecting comics with his brother and father.

21:30 bro i feel ur pain man i had the same thing happened to my books too but luckily the grades were decreased. but man is ur book from back in the days i know how that feels. i got my nm 98 in a black out storm from an estate sale at night. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to see the books in his house. (i was dumb enf to not think i would get murdered for my cash). that story and book will stay with me forever.
Honestly, I don't care what a person collects or is into....I just LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing collectors coming together like this and just nerding out with their inner child. It's such a beautiful and wonderful thing! Keep it all going guys! \m/

I literally have thousands of comic books from the 50's and 60's in near mint condition I collected in my younger days. (Superman, Batman, Sad Sack etc.) I'm getting ready to unload the whole bunch to finance my preferred massive baseball card collection. It will be hard to part with these but its time.

Your 35MM film are trailers. They are about 3 minutes running time and weigh about a pound. The studios often end eBay auctions for them.

Awesome video. I think its really relieving to see someone be done and are just ready to move on. We hold on to our possessions so much and love them. I have a half garage full of mementos and old stuff in my father's garage but I know at some point I need to go through it and give that stuff away. Everything has a time and place in our lives.

I bought a long box of 300 comics just to read. I have a few from my childhood days but I didn't have the kind of money to buy them often. Now I am going into it a bit too much. lol
That's not the first appearance of Loki it's the first appearance of that version of Loki. Jack Kirby did Thor, Mjolnir, and Loki first in DCs tales of the unexpected #16 in 1957. I know this because I have that issue and it drives me crazy that the first time he did those characters for marvel is worth like ten times more than the actual first time he ever did them. Help me out everybody, tell the world about Kirby's real first Thor comic so my kids can go to a good college. 😊

That iron man 3 reel is most likely a trailer, a movie reel is about 20” in diameter. I was a projectionist at AMC and spiced the movies together.

My dad was a collector and I think he still has all of his books. We tried to look at the value of his collection back in 95 and we only made it half way through and we had a total of 125k… he had some amazing stuff!
He’s definitely in my top 5. His collection is amazing 👍🏼

Edit: 26:52 I was asking myself this question, durring watching this video, all the talk about CGC, but does he read them, glad you mentioned it my dude. I find it shocking that a TON of people buy up stuff, only for covers and don't care about the pages.
I can't buy a book just for it's cover, when it's not a title from my pulllist, if i don't read the story, i don't want to get a cover from it, eventhough i might love the cover.

I love the silver age, Kiry is my god, my King.
But seeing i wasn't alive in the 50's/ 60's / 70's
I do believe, the books i grew up with, that those are books i love, to have and to see.
I do still own the books i grew up with, the love for the silver age came in naturally seeing those were translated when i was reading in my native language, that i bought later on in the original english publication.
I don't care for 2000 books, i don't care for Gwen stacy spin offs, i find it ridiculous.
But it's only logical to think that books that people grow up with, will stick with the readers when they grow up, and if they lost them, they will find them back.
The books i had to track down, that i grew up with, in the original publication, aren't worth as much to any one, but me, so, i'm lucky for that, but then again, i love Kirby, and those books are worth something, to the masses, seeing that dude created 80% of everything silver age with marvel.

I am not interested in comic books, but its so nice to see somebody knowledgeable about his passion and craft, thankyou for posting, would love to hear some more stories and adventures this gentleman has gone through to acquire such an amazing art collection. If i was near a comic book shop right now i would go an buy one.... try to make a regular slot with him a new subscriber

To clarify, however, there were no US or NY state government sponsored comic book burnings; there were privately organized but publicly held rallies where religious organizations hosted comic book and record album burnings.
And that Iron Man 3 film roll is the 35mm trailer, not "the whole film."
For every person that ask me why I love collecting comics and why it means so much to me. I’m going encourage them to watch this video. Amazing🙌🏽🙇🏽♂️

Sick! He actually doesn't have the whole movie on film, he has the trailer on film. I scored Speed Racer and History of Violence trailers on 35mm. The entire film would be like 4 or 5 reels.

I want so badly to own a Detective Comics 359. I'll never be able to afford one in such fantastic condition as so many of the comics in this man's collection, but as long as it presented decently enough I'd be so thrilled. I'm a huge Batgirl fan, and this is essentially my 'grail book' :) This man has so much comic knowledge I'm blown away by it. An interesting coincidence that Sandman 1 is his 'grail' . I was just looking at more modest examples of it today and drooling over them! Talk about doing what you love, huh? I am just flat out impressed by his collection. What a thing of beauty! Sincerely, a recently reinvigorated comic collector :)

I can imagine the collection this guy might have had if had started in 1970s...I was too busy with other things in life by latter 1980s and let stuff go over years...looks like he kept his finds. Well maintained collection too but really liked his economy setup for pressing and cleaning books.

Love to see another Sandman collector. I have the entire run minus that 2nd edition issue #75 - yeah it's so hard to get. Envious that he had the extra raw copy as I'd love to have it. What I do have though are a number of copies signed by Mike Dringenberg - #8 being my favorite. Thanks for showing this collection!

I straight up died laughing and had to rewind the part “These I’m absolutely not getting rid off, these are mine.” I’m a hardcover comic collector (deluxe collected editions omnibuses) and seller I understand this guy so much even though I’m not a floppy guy.

just try to keep ones I have in good shape, and love art and indies..most ppl don't value.😉
