    ‘It’s miserable’…and a smile breaks out!! 😊 Looked like a lovely spot to camp and spend the night, hope you were warm enough! Bye bye beard, hair and tent - they’ve all served you well 😉 Lovely to see your last hurrah with cold weather camping for this season!! Longer days here we come! Great to see you out enjoying the elements 🤗

      Smiles aren’t reserved for beautiful weather, even though it was a horrible day I enjoyed the ride home! Having said that, I was pretty happy to hit the shower and warm up once I did finally get back ;)
      I never do one night trips so this was a bit strange for me but now that I’ve done one I’m sure I’ll head back to that place again soon for another get a way :)
      Always so nice to read your comments, take care of yourself and stay safe :)

    Recently discovered a way to revive dead lipo using a donor battery .
    Great trip .man , pity about the weather . But you made it

    • @shakyhandpictures2185
      @shakyhandpictures2185  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d be interested in that for sure.
      This is the second time this battery has had no power after leaving the house and being fully charged. I didn’t realize it till I was on my way out of the city and that caused me a fair amount of range anxiety, unnecessarily so as it turned out. Luckily I’d borrowed my neighbours secondary battery so I had 4 in total. Used both my secondary batteries and 70% of Peters, plugged in the main battery when I arrived home and it immediately came to life…… wth.
      Great couple days, and as you know, you can’t control the weather, just your reaction to it :)
      Cheers, my best to you as always.

      @@shakyhandpictures2185 I would not be confident in explaining the battery revival given that the battery seemed to come back to life .
      The one I saw had been left on a shelf for months and would not charge at all because the charger wanted to see a voltage before it would send a charge to the battery . They connected another battery in series to the dead one , this getting it to show a charge and once it began charging they disconnected the donor and it continued to charge the dead lipo .
      Your one is strange , it's like a faulty termination or a broken cable. I'm presuming you have a multi meter .
      I would be connecting a multi meter and wiggling stretching the cable coming from the battery ,
      Cooling and expanding will make solder flex and a dry solder will act like your battery is acting . .

    • @shakyhandpictures2185
      @shakyhandpictures2185  ปีที่แล้ว

      All the wiring is hidden, the charging indicator on the battery was dark, nothing. Once it hit the charger it was full….. luckily I still have three months on the warranty so Rize will be getting another call for action.
      I have to remove the motor, I’ll check all the wiring once it’s off, thanks brother appreciate the info for sure.

    • @lifesahobby
      @lifesahobby ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shakyhandpictures2185 multi meters or volt meters are my go to place for trouble shooting.
      Normally you will have stranded copper wire inside these connections as a fail safe against issues of a single wire breaking. I doubt it's your motor if you did not experience the issue with other batteries .
      The reason I say put a volt meter up to the connections the plus and minus is that it will show 12 / 24 volts . . And if it's a faulty solder to the battery as you wiggle the cables you'll see the volts jumping around or none at all if there's a fault.
      I've had loads of faulty batteries over the past few years , all rechargeable . Best of luck.

      It’s a land trust I just found out about a few months ago. It’s not very big but it’s well equipped, and a nice place to hang out or walk your dog.
      First free camping I’ve ever had in Ontario, camping is expensive here, our provincial park system is excellent, and that cost money so I don’t mind the expense. We have conservation areas and tons of overcrowded commercial camping grounds and trailer ( caravan) parks where the trailers are crammed in together like a modern subdivision, brutal, lol.

      @@shakyhandpictures2185 I'm sure we have them to but the beauty here for most places bar loch Lomond it is written by law that we can camp within reason anywhere. So wild camping it is and you get some amazing spots in the middle of nowhere. Lovely speaking with you

      @shakyhandpictures2185  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’d think that we’d have lots of wild camping here in Canada, but where I live it’s next to impossible, all land is posted and private. Crown land is available in Canada for wild camping but in my area of Ontario it’s to populated and the crown land is scarce.
      You live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, Scotland and Ireland are really the only places I wished I’d travelled to, the people and the environment speak to me.

    Awesome to see another fellow biketourer from London. Have made Solitude my overnight stop on the way to Port Burwell for several years now. Lovely spot. Didn’t know they were open for camping that early in the season though. What brand of tent heater are you using?

    • @shakyhandpictures2185
      @shakyhandpictures2185  ปีที่แล้ว

      @donierea1, well hello! I wouldn’t typically stop at solitude, riding directly to port Burrell from home or work, didn’t know it existed till last fall when a coworker mentioned it to me.,
      It’s open year round, with just sites 1 & 2 open through the winter. Outstanding spot and managed well!
      For the fall and spring I’m using a little buddy heater, although that’s only possible with the trailer. It’s bulky and an odd shape so it’s tough to pack. Works beautifully, keeps my two person tent toasty warm well below 0, I do use a battery powered fan from my winter camping gear to keep the tent comfortable.
      Thanks for checking it out and safe travels, check out otter river farms for a great isolated campsite, or cool cabin experience while you’re down Burrell way!

    Regarding your battery, check the metal connections are not bent, I had similar on mine and found that on mine it was put in at a certain angle that was just pushing the connections away from it. Simple small bend back with a screwdriver or thin nose plyers.

    What are the chances to carry a larger trailer thermally insulated where you can sleep overnight, with some small heating system? How long the range it can be with all those 3 batteries?

    • @shakyhandpictures2185
      @shakyhandpictures2185  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely, it’s possible and being done all over the place. Germany has a big Ebike camper community, I only wish I understood German to really appreciate the scene.
      Without a heavy load I can get around 170/175 kms from the three batteries. Pulling the trailer, that drops to around 130/140 kms depending on the terrain and wind.
      The company says you’ll get up to 60 kms from a battery, I’ve found that that’s pretty accurate on the lowest power assist and peddling all the time.
      Hope this helps.
      Cheers Rick…… thanks for the comment!
