Dit nummer is gewoon te cool. Ik ken ‘m nu een paar jaar maar ben nog niemand tegen gekomen die deze Friese (beste!) versie kent. Thanks voor het uploaden enzo 🤘

Some of this is not actually far off from the original Scots version, but that’s Frisian for you. 🍻💪

My father made this translation, directly from the original Scottish the twa corbies. So your right it is not far off the original. fy.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Twa_Roeken

Whilst I went along my path alone
I heard two rook in conversation
The one to the other did say
Where will we get our meal today?
Where will we get our meal today?
There in the area on the road green
There is a knight, dead, since recently
And no one knows that he is there
Only his hook, his dog, his bride
His hook catches birds like his boot
By the rabbits his dog is out
His bride has someone else to engage in
So a pretty meal have we been given
His white neck is yours to prey
I will peck his blue eyes away
a lock of his hair golden
Is for our nest a decking and ornament
To show him to many humans, a tear (as in torn, not the water in your eyes)
But where he is… no one knows where?
His blank bones, exposed and bare
The wind waves over forever there.
(I tried to keep the poetic elements, which made it a li'l tough. Also My frisian is not great, but I tried my best)

Oh, thank you so much!! I´m learning the language but I don´t have enough vocabulary to get everything in it so it spared a lot of looking into the small Frisian dictionary I´ve got and on the free ones over the web for the many words I don´t know yet! Fryslân boppe!!

It's nothing like Welsh. Quite close to English.

    It resembles Welsh

Not at all. Totally unrelated language. Frisian is North Sea Germanic, like Low Saxon and extinct Jutish.
