  • This week as a matter of urgency it’s time to find alternatives to the dangerously crap Dunlop Sportmax D214s which come as standard on the Z650RSs. Top of the list are Michelin Road 6 replacements. For the first time ever in 26 years of riding and motorcycle ownership, I’ve worn out the front tyre before the rear. Unheard of and somewhat worrying. While I’ve always ridden bikes to their “ability” but never really to the max, I can’t believe these tyres are so bad. They’re either super soft, or seriously thin. We must have reliable rubber for a tour of Tasmania so now is the time to put new boots on and bed them in. I’ve always been a bit of a Michelin fan so will there be any alternatives!!!!!!
Please give this video a THUMBS UP, and please subscribe to the channel as it really really helps me stick out to the TH-cam algorithm.

We are Glynis and Chris Taylor. We’ve been riding forever (🤦‍♀️). Glynis passed her test in 1998, and Chris a few decades earlier.
Our riding history! We’ve ridden the length of England, Scotland and Wales on everything from a Suzuki 650S, Ducati 748R, Fazer 600, CBR600, VFR800’s and R1’s. We’ve taken BMW GS700s from Ushuaia to Machu Pichu in South America, taken RE Classic 500’s around Rajasthan in India, ridden off road in Cyprus, and covered a lot of New South Wales on R1’s and Fazer 600’s, and South Australia on MT09’s and now Kawasaki Z650RS’s.
The road never ends for motorcycle adventurers.
We’re all about bringing you a weekly #motovlog videos riding motorbikes, in particular our twin Kawasaki Z650RS’s. We do this full time. We love adventure travel, extreme travel, and sometimes just easy relaxing travel along with the odd skydive and bungee jump. Just like so many bikers, we need varied and specific clothing and equipment, tyres, good servicing, great routes and good mates. So we aim to offer you suggestions, our experience, our knowledge, and some genuine good ideas.

Heya, I agree those stock tyres were terrible! they didn't last very long either and were slippery in the rain, (and in my opinion sometimes even in dry). Swapped to a nice set of sport touring tyres and the bike got a lot better at everything after that!

OMG thank goodness it’s not just my biking or my riding! I wonder how many people have serious problems with the Dunlop’s or is it just the combo of this bike with these tyres! Would love to hear how others have faired with these exact tyres.

@@Sticky_BEAK yeah there's others complaining about these as well and specifically in combination with this bike.

It's my first bike and I have it since this past May. After +3000kms I had a few rear tyre slips without doing nothing wrong, only having a cool tyre and it's scary. I think they need a lot of warm up to start working well.

@@XarlioG60that’s not good especially when it’s your first bike. Yes you’re right a lot to warm up and if you’re in a cold country that makes it even harder. Safe riding.

Can anyone spot the mistake? Hint: it’s not a sign for a wombat it’s a sign for?
