Pretty wild a guy can come back from injury and a lengthy recovery to open the season with the 11th fastest mile in human history…and it’s seen as at minimum humbling and, according to some, a disappointment.

If he believed that, he couldn’t do any of the things he does and have done. He missed 4 months of training due to injury so it’s gonna take a while until he’s the best he can be this season, but the belief in oneself is vital to keep. Mind over matter, and all that.

What was the 'injury'? I think in reality Jakob just had a little time out because of all the family troubles including firing his Dad as coach. You don't run a 3:46 mile if you're injured or still in recovery. Jakob has been making excuses for defeats for a few years now so we are all used to this kind of talk and his refusal to give credit to his competitors. It's a shame that he does not have more worldly influences on what he says publicly given the many youngsters who look to him as a role model. Anyway, Paris is still over two months away up so he still has time to rehearse another excuse for Paris. It's annoying to me because Jakob is such a great athlete and we all want to admire him and just enjoy his performances but he is actually, as a man, a bit of a dick.
