  • Lyon is a foodie paradise. Whether you want to visit the bouchons of Lyon or enjoy delicious brasseries or top-quality bakeries, Lyon has it all.
It's not the cheapest place to enjoy great food, but the quality and flavor you get for your money is unmatched to other parts of France that I have visited.

Nice video Laura. I was there in February & the food is incroyable. Like you, I tried the Andouilette. It's an acquired taste I think. The saucisson brioche was lovely. I plan to go back & try some of the dishes you showed which looked delicious also. Bonne appetit !

I LOVE poached eggs, they're my personal favorite way to have eggs to be honest haha and there were a lot of dishes in Lyon that had poached egg in them.

Nice to see you again Laura.
Been re-watching your Mexico series -- any plans to return to Mexico?
I'm thinking of spending a few months in your fave place San Jose del Cabo or maybe Marina Vallarta or something (Europe is so damn expensive now).
Such a long way from London .....

@3:30 glad you enjoyed the praline pie. Some find it too sweet and runny.
I simply take it when it’s in the menu. This or a crème brûlée.

Georges actually was from Alsace and brought the choucroute and the beer with him.
Quenelle de brochet has it that a long time ago to many brochets were fished and someone from lyon came up with the idea to make a sausage out of them

Bouchons initially fed the canuts, the silk workers.
They have become their own thing and they mainly serve dishes based on pork.

Spending a day at lyon and leaving by train the next day in July. Is there any specific district you would recommend us to stay at?

I like the area around Hotel de Ville or Place Bellecour. They are the most central and allow you to explore both old and new very easily.

Spent 1.5 day there many years ago. Randomly tried a few restaurants, small ones as well as a fancy one. Mixed feeling, don’t think they are better or worse than other similar sized cities in France, Italy or Spain.

I'm from Lyon and, as in every city there are some great, and "less great" restaurants. I wish you better luck next time, hoping you will come over here again.

My husband and I don't eat pork, sobasically according to the restaurants here it will be a challenge to find something without it.

Do you think it be hard to be vegetarian in France?

    • @laura-bronner
      @laura-bronner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think being vegetarian is definitely possible. If you are still happy to have meals with eggs and dairy you'll have a lot easier time than if you are vegan, which I think would be far more difficult. There are a lot of traditional dishes that are vegetarian or can easily be made vegetarian in my experiences.

Not at all, i would say that 80% of restaurants have vegan menu
