Good artists showing their art, sharing the art of others, standing up to fellow artists, whether begginner or not and giving good, respectful and understandable tips to begginner artists or artists who struggle at something
The sentence "latinos can't be white, they are tan and dark skinned" literally screams that mean girls moment "if you're from Africa why are you white?" Since I'm latina and white I've heard this more times than I can count....
USA have always had a nation segregated by racial and ethnic groups, both due to the action of their governments and because immigrant communities tend to isolate themselves within their groups, neither in Spain nor in Latin America (which, despite having a certain history of segregation) has a much longer history of mixing, Spain cannot separate its culture from Arab, Visigothic or Roman heritage in the same way that Latino culture (which is mixed by it's own definition) is impossible to separate from both its indigenous, Spanish and even african heritage, that is something that USA americans and their concept of nationality, race and culture will never understand
Probably one of my favourite things about latino music genres is how you can clearly recognice just with the rithm and instruments which ones have more spanish, indigenous and african influence, and even if you analyze where they originated you can clearly see which one of those groups had more cultural influence in each country of origin.
@@toxicanalytics9966 i think you are mostly correct, but the context is important. the spanish promoted race mixing in LATAM as a form of "diluting" the black and brown people, to bring them closer to being white.
@@soloheroina Of course, as I have said, there was segregation in the viceroyalties, the governors were generally Spaniards born in the peninsula, the empire was reluctant to even give government posts to Spaniards born in America even if they were white because they trusted less in their "fidelity to the crown". But for example, in the poor neighborhoods of the viceroyalties it was not uncommon to see a mixture of whites, blacks, mestizos and indigenous people, unlike the racial ghettos of English colonies. And even to a much lesser extent, there was also indigenous nobility, mainly Tlaxalteca and other tribes that maintained their privileges for (basically carrying out most of the conquest because the Spanish alone would not have achieved anything without their help) and lived with the Creole and Spanish nobility. Obviously they had less privileges than pure Spaniards but I am not saying that it was a just or egalitarian society because obviously it wasn't I am saying that it was a diverse society and more used to cultural mixing.
May Quinni soul rest in peace. She had absolute gorgeous art. To think her art was being sold as nfts, her hard work, after her passing away is terrible. How devastating and disgusting is that good artists don't get protection from such thefts or cyberbullying
I remember following her for years and then finding out about her passing from her account. It broke my heart. She left a beautiful legacy and beautiful art behind. I find it so sad that someone would steal the art of someone who’s passed away in order to profit.
As an artist, one of many things I hate is when folks think they’ve “fixed” someone else’s work by either race or gender swapping the characters. You’re not doing anything great. That’s narcissism and not creative whatsoever.
@@user-th1pv6ks5o IMO, it's all in the intent and the way you present your work. If you post it and claim you made the original "better", "fixed" it or otherwise insinuate the original work/character was somehow wrong or lesser, this is "fixing". If you just say something like "I wanted to see what X would look like as Y", there is nothing wrong here.
I agree, and I think the people who comment under the "fixed" post saying " I usually don't like fixed art, but this is an exception" is really rude to the original artist and hypocritical in there beliefs
I drew an indian girl and she had light skin, got harassed on twitter (had to delete it cause of that) cause she had light skin. Im indian. I know many people with light skin bro not everyone here is milk chocolate 💀 some ppl have lighter skin some ppl have darker skin everyone’s different bruh-
i bet £10 the people who harassed you were all white north american teenage girls with zero ethnic diversity or any KNOWLEDGE on that in the first place
It’s because people are touchy about colorism, like it or not. You can’t deny there’s an actual preference for light skin people in minority groups And why delete tho? Just block. Ain’t hard. I love telling those assholes off.
As long as you're on Twitter, the frontline warzone of the internet, you're gonna get the flak for just about anything possible. I'm not familiar with the art community nor I know what other platforms more suitable for you guys, but just don't put everything on Twitter.
The Puss in Boots case really surprised me as a Spaniard. The cat is Spaniard, Spanish from Spain, since is based on Spaniard soldier. And he is, more concrete, sevillan, from Andalucía. You know this for his accent when he speaks. I thought everyone knew this, but it seems many gringos think that Spain is in Mexico, that Spanish is a South America only language when is even talked in Africa and the language comes from... well... Spain, and that the whole South America is just Mexico. It makes me wonder what kind of education gringos have in their schools... It's really worrying...
Not mention also that Spain has TONS of other heritages from Morocco, Portugal, England and France and many other countries. So think "European = White" is stupid as Hell, unless you're mentioning the Anglo countries or the Nordic ones. To these people Spain didn't even exist until suddenly a king appeared and sent Colon to (find a short way to the India) colonize America.
@@edgechan Not only the ones you said, but also Romans and Vikings. Spain, even before it was named Spain, was conquered many, many times. There is an amazing mix of races there. And gringos doesn't even know how the colonization went. They tried to hide their own actions with the South European ones. The north killed natives. The south mixed. And they are teaching this bad on puprose. Just see what Alfonso Borrego, descendant of native americans, says about the colonization. He says English were at fault for massacring natives. Spanish didn't do that bc they mixed. The problem is that gringos are teaching latinos their low education quality, and are feeding them lies and bad education.
Considering my aunt is Latino and light skinned, and I have been fascinated by the downfall of Meso America, mostly in part by Spaniards and other part being environmental, a lot of South American (and most North American) history is taught based on British European perspectives. If not for my curiosity and history/cultural fascination, I would be equally as ignorant as most U.S. Americans are to the world around us.
@@ArtistChibi A trully horror, tbh. I mean, just imagine what they can manipulate if they are the only ones giving the perspective: they can hide their own actions and blame them into someone else so they aren't the bad ones, or at least not as bad as "the others". History manipulation is really horrible.
@@VzoZel Well, as some have said, "History is written by victors." Which is true, until the losers start telling their side, as well. Like I wasn't aware of the nasty atrocities America did to the Japanese residence during WW2 until George Takei talked about it. I was aware of what the early settlers did to the Natives, but never about what they did during WW2, besides getting involved.
I've always wondered why art thieves don't feel inspired when they see amazing art and decide to steal it instead. Isn't it the perfect opportunity to try and learn while you're admiring an amazing artist?
I feel like there are usually one of two reasons (with some variation): 1. The thief actually wants to get better at art but is not confident enough in their current skills, and impatient to reach a point where they'll be able to "draw like that other artist". They then find work off of google try and still get some sort of praise for "their work". 2. They don't care.
I can't remember what video this comment was on, but I remember someone saying something along the lines of "you can tell these are the type of people who wanted to be artists, tried drawing once, realized it was hard, never tried again, and decided to be salty about it forever instead of practicing like a normal person". Granted, the original comment was specifically referring to AI "artists", but it 100% applies to art thieves in general.
Art thieves are immoral talentless hacks who can't draw a basic stick figure, so they take art from more talented artists and call it their own while hoping no one will find them out.
As their name implied... They do it for profit. No matter the meaning of the profit is, they will illegally gain something from stealing other people's art.
@@jeremyfrancalacci7627 yeah, it's a quite popular thing to do (not that popular means nice always, but I think it is in this case), drawing characters in a way that they can represent their VA's. But again, equating that to the canon identity of the character is...what even?
I don't get why people find it so hard to understand, NOT EVERYONE WHOS SPANISH HAS DARKER/TAN SKIN. A lot of Spanish people have lighter skin. People are conflicting Spanish people from Spain with Spanish people from Puerto Rico etc. There are more tanned/darker people in south America than they are in Spain, and EVEN THEN you can't just equate Spanish = tanned skin, that's so dumb.
Usa always work with race in mind, thats why their definition of latino has to be racial, but latino is not racial, its cultural, and because of this, there can't be such thing as a racial latino because its by the literal definition mixed, multinational and multiethnic. Thats what they won't, and probably will never understand
Most Americans are not that stupid, Twitter is a special case. That being said, what reference do you imagine we have? The only thing most of us have to go on is movies, and all the Spanish people we see look about like Antonio Banderas, thank you, Hollywood, for incessant type casting.
you can compare the quality of comment on youtube vs on twitter. you can easily know that people on Twitter are not the same as people in the real world. it's like if you trying to take a survey of your product, but you collect your survey in the mental Assylum. in Twitter case, your survey will be distorted toward the most toxic and degenerate of the society. the survey that you collected will alienate normal people and your intended demographic. therefore, just ignore anything that came from twitter.
For any young artists out there thinking of posting their art on twitter: it is very rare for someone to critisize your art like they do in this video. These cases are very rare to happen. ✌️
Qinni was one of the first artists I ever followed. I remember that galaxy girl piece with the blue and purple blush everytime someone mentions her. She was part of the reason I even got into art. I was heartbroken when I heard she had passed. She was an amazing artist
I have no doubt in my mind that Quinni - and the galaxy girl speedpaint more specifically - greatly influenced me into art as well. The years would pass by, and I would come back again, and my admiration for her would only grow. I was shocked when i heard of her disease, and even more when I heard of her passing. Wherever she is now, I hope she is in peace
@@MohammedAgbadi have you heard of the recent racist controversy with Kooleen an artist of 2 mil subscribers? She called a black character a gorilla-looking....
@@himalayansalt32 she called a jawline “gorilla looking”, and i think people attributing that to her calling people of colour “gorilla looking” is a big leap. however, the lack of diversity in her art as a big creator is an issue, and her art tips for anatomy are very specific and often european or south east asian -centric.
@@neehaa for sure! and i remember him being called out on it a lot on twitter after he drew yassified bella ramsay (a huge disservice to them bc they’re actually gorgeous) but it lasted five minutes and people forgot about it. it seems to be a pretty huge issue in the art and media community in general. diversity is more interesting! moving away from this whole issue would make art more inclusive, but also more enjoyable to make and consume in my opinion.
I LOVE that Puss in Boots fanart, it's an incredibly good interpretation of the character and it bothers me that a lot of people knee-jerk assume that being Spanish or Latino automatically means dark skin. I'm far from an expert myself as I'm neither of those things to my knowledge and it's not my place to speak on behalf of those communities, but if I'm not mistaken, a good adjacent example of this would be Dib and Gaz from Invader Zim, who as far as I'm aware are/were intended to be light-skinned Mexicans to reflect the creator, Jhonen Vasquez, but are generally assumed to be white simply because of their skin color. It's really unfortunate honestly
i am no expert myself but i Guess i can give a point as an spanish. Basically this Puss in Boots is a parody of El Zorro, which is mexican but most of its stories occur during the Virreinato de Nueva España, and during that time LATAM was just as diverse in skin tones as It is today as el zorro was part of the nobility, that makes him probably White (even if he is an invented character). The other part is that as the puss is voiced by Antonio Banderas and he uses his andalucian accent and he makes some jokes referencing Andalucía, so that makes the character obviously non mexican anyways, but the thing about that interpretation of the puss of the movie is that he isnt supposed to be neither spanish nor hispanoamerican, as neither of those places exists on shrecks world. This Puss in Boots is more like the personification of hispanic character during viceroyalties, It embraces hispanic characteristics from both Spain and LATAM as one identity from a time in which those two identities were not separated. My point is that puss being mexican or spanish is irrelevant, because the importante thing is that he has hispanic culture, and hispanic culture is not exclussive to any skintone or race.
the idea that Spaniards are darker skinned (compared to other europeans) is because of Moorish heritage (unsure if that's the accurate word or just old fashioned). basically having lots of north african ancestors because of all the north african people who moved into spain starting back in medieval times. not all spaniards of course, but some can be more tanned with dark hair and eyes and mediterranean features. in western ireland, people with a natural tan and dark hair and eyes are called spanish irish because they likely have family from the spanish sailors who used to harbor in western ireland as a major trade route. that idea that spanish people may be darker skinned is not a bad thing nor is it untrue per say. it's just not true for everyone in spain. same with italians. many in the south have north african and arab heritage when many in the north do not. it's ok to say youd like to see human puss and boots featuring antonio banderas more southern european looks. but the ginger interpretation is accurate too and fundamentally the artists choice. it's fun with his orange kitty cat fur 👍 and probably is a good reminder of the ethnic diversity in spain.
This is kind of why I am happy about being a creature artist. You do not get called out for a dinosaur not having the right skin color. It is scary to think that you might get hate comments because someone does not like the skin color of the painting you posted.
Don't jinx yourself like that. Crazies on the internet love two things above all else: a challenge to their depravity, and calling people racist. You'll be drawing fanart of Mothra, Godzilla, and King Kong one day (because you understand what fun is and you have the skill set) and then BOOM! _Yer racist fer using THAT highlight color on a giant lizard while daring to draw a gorilla in the same picture._ And the call-out will somehow be exceedingly racist. Because of course it will.
Some ecological or fossil nerds might comments about your dinosaur having no furs or skin color depending on their habitats and camouflage adaptation though. By the way, your dino arts are beautiful!
I remember a few years ago I drew Michael Jackson through different eras, like as a child, a teen, his thriller era and his bad era, and of course someone ignorant told me “why did you draw Michael white?” Obviously pointing out how light his skin was during the bad era I told her”that’s what his skin looked like during part of his life.” She told me I was “racist” for white washing him, I told her if anyone is racist it’s her, he had a skin disorder called Vitiligo, and how growing up I had a friend who had it and she was made fun of for having it, people are either stupid or ignorant and I feel they enjoy being ignorant. I love Michael Jackson and the fact people change peoples art is truly disrespectful.
@@Geminisparklesthese days, any time I see someone on the internet making a remarkably stupid take, for the sake of my own sanity I assume they're just trigger baiting.
I've been there before where people got angry at me for not making my black character look black enough when I was using a pastel/almost neon palette. Honestly made me never want to try and paint another darker skined character again. Its ridiculous how angry people get over that when I just want to create fanart for said characters and colors are hard sometimes
Way back when in the Steven Universe era, I drew Garnet. I was called racist because of the tone I gave her. I color picked from the show directly, lmao. Her coloration is modeled after a rock. You can't please some people. Half of them couldn't actually give you a "good enough" range. If you're not used to something, you're not racist for not getting it right, it means you're not perfect on the first try. You know, _like a human._ Try again, if not for any reason other than only doing what you've always done gets boring.
I am sure that artwork looked awesome! It‘s sad to see how many people say that you can do whatever you want with art but then start a whole shitstorm because you don’t fulfill their expectations, killing your whole love and fun for doing art with this. I don’t know if this will be helpful to you or if you even want some encouraging words, but my favourite musician said that he never compromises with his songs. I personally think about this a lot because at the end of the day it‘s you, who has to be satisfied with your art. You don’t have to explain anything to anyone or meet the expectations people want you to. Please keep up with the things you want to do as long as they make you happy 💕
People forgot that Spain, Portugal, Brittain, and France used to be avid country collectors, spreading their language and culture like soft butter over other whatever country they can. This is how there are so many English, Spanish, French, and Portugal speakers around the globe. Mexico used to be conquered by Spain so it's no surprise they speak that language, but that doesn't mean they are the only speakers😭
I just want to say that the first image (Puss in Boots) is really impressive. The artist captures all the iconic parts of Puss and managed to translate them into human form. Even without the screencap from the film in the corner, I’d immediately recognize this character as Puss in Boots, despite him being a completely different species. Amazing!!
I love being screamed by a random person online about any cultural knowledge when they themselves are the most likely stereotyping the characters and had no idea what the culture was like. We are in the internal hell for artists 😊
this really reminds me why i dont share my art. if its not in a perfect anime style, its wrong, and "guys i found the original", "oh!", or "💀" has to be the most hurtful thing to see in your comment section when you post art. it makes me so upset that people just cant scroll if they dont like, theyre not forced to comment mean things, yet they do, i want no association with the art community whatsoever.
1. Those are very basic "insults." Don't get so offended. 2. You aren't protected from criticism, or being told that people don't like your art. You have every fair opportunity to have people not love what you do, because you aren't special.
@@addison_v_ertisement1678 with how you’re wording this, i’m not really sure if you’re on my side or not but i never said i’m special nor immune to bullying or criticism, i like constructive criticism, but the ones that outright insult your art, and i know not to get offended but either way i’m still gonna get offended bc that’s the natural reaction to hearing something you don’t wanna hear

Man, the backlash about the art of human Puss is so weird when his skintone is literally the same shade of orange/beige as cat Puss' lighter fur. What is the issue?
@@clarehidalgoDude, this happened to me but backwards! I’m Mexican and got told by a Puerto Rican lady (co-worker as well) that I was embarrassing myself by claiming to be Mexican when I was “clearly” not. Although she didn’t just bring up that I was white looking, she brought up my height and basically said I was too tall to be Mexican (I was a 6 foot tall 18 year old girl so to her that was “suspicious”). I don’t think I said anything back. I had really bad social anxiety back then so I was about to cry when this sweet old lady popped up out of nowhere and asked if she was bothering me. Then told her to leave me alone. Talking with her I found out the rude lady was her daughter in law and that she was also Puerto Rican. For the rest of the time I worked there she’d talk to me in Spanish because apparently her daughter in law couldn’t speak it and it made her super paranoid. She was super insecure and that was probably what lead to the whole thing in the first place now that I actually think about it. The older lady was really sweet. I often wonder what’s going on with her since I haven’t seen her since I got fired several years ago (not for being a bad worker, I just got hit by a car lol).
I don't ever comment but hearing about Qinni's art being stolen is absolutely horrible. When i was in high school she inspired me so much. She went through four open heart surgeries and cancer during her life but kept drawing. Rest in peace Qinni.
That second half got me a bit emotional, I’ve never heard of that story before. The world needs more people like Lois Gibson to help victims and deliver justice to criminals, her sheer accuracy with her forensic portraits from limited descriptions is like a miracle from God
When Quinni passed away my heart broke, to think someone started selling her art as NFTs it’s suck sickening, her art can’t just be left alone and appreciated
I'm latina and I can assure you that in my family there are all types of skin, hair and features, and even having celebrities like sofia vergara, shakira and pedro pascal I still can't believe that they believe that we are all dark skinned. I find Quinni's situation horrible and disrespectful
Qinni's case is so depressing and it's disgusting to see that art thieves target anyone including someone person who lost her life. rest in peace Qinni ❤
It’s a stereotype in Europe at least that Americans don’t know anything about geography outside of the united states…not exactly beating the allegations
My thoughts go out to Qinni and her family. It's unbelievable how soulless and selfish people on the internet (and everywhere) can be. May their work be appreciated by people who actually respect them and their contributions to the art community.
If someone fixes my art i'll just tell them: "instead of fixing my art go fix your life that is as broken as your relationships" + I just finished the vid and that forensic artist is a literall hero im really inspired by her amazing passion and dedication to help victims and catching criminals! She definitely deserves her Guinness world record!!❤❤
Quinni's situation makes me so fucking infuriated. It's the same shit fuckers did with Kim Jung Gi, immediately after he passed too. The person is literally not here anymore to even defend their work, and the vultures come out of hiding to start profiting off of the legacy of these artists. I don't even know how you could stoop so low. It's unbelievble. The moment these artists pass, someone comes along and spits on their graves. It's just insane, dude. At least there's thousands of people calling out these degenerates and recognizing what their doing is abhorrent. RIP Quinni and RIP Kim Jung Gi. Real goddamn artists and real inspirations.
Yeah most artists who are humanizing a character often use light skin but mind you the character was never a human to begin with so they technically have the freedom to design them however they please. I've seen plenty of humanized drawings of softpaws with tan skin. They all look great but also they're cats. I always mix it up when I humanized characters but that's my choice.
quick tip for watermarking your work; what i do is i make it very small, very VERY low opacity, and hiding in plain sight. make it extremely hard to notice, but don't remove it entirely
i “love” it when people who have never even been to a particular country nor bothered to research the ethnic groups that used to reside on that country’s lands throughout history try to dictate how the people from that country “should” look. and the fact that they mostly go off stereotypes makes it even funnier.
Idk if you play this game, but the same stupid thing happens in the Genshin art community. There’s an area based off of middle eastern countries called Sumeru so of course the characters are constantly drawn with a different darker skin tone than their design. As people in these comments pointed out it’s an ignorant assumption that they “should” look darker, but it’s also a Chinese anime game. Most anime characters are white, why would an anime game be different. It’s not totally related but your comment reminded me of the Sumeru skin color drama. Edit: IS THAT A SAKI PFP I SEE?
When I was in middle school, I was insecure that I didnt look latina enough. I wasnt dark skin or had curly hair, and I wouldn't speak spanish. most of my family is darker and my mom speaks fluent spanish. The Puss In Boots controversy brought back that sadness and made me realize that there might still be like me out there thinking the same as i did.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate this mans art? Idk how but it honestly just looks so pleasing to the eye, especially because of how good the anatomy is.
The post Ross made about someone stealing Qinni's (her real name is Han Qing, thus her username is pronounced Chee - Knee) isn't even about the NFT stuff. Some online stationery store started selling a notebook collection with her artworks as the covers just days after her family announced her passing. Many people raised concerns about it and they _claimed_ they discussed it with Qinni the previous year. But in the DM they showed, all she responded with was basically "I'm still sick, so let's put it in the backburner". That's not an ok, she was dealing with cancer.
i saw the title, looked at my drawing, put it down, and cried for 2 minutes straight, then clicked, saw its what OTHER people have done and not the art community in general, cried again, watched. Great video bro! 👍
as an artist, this type of drama and nonsense is why I don't post my art online much (I mostly show it to my irl friends and family) because I don't want my art stolen or getting into drama, and when I do post my art online I often reverse-image-search it to make sure it isn't stolen
This is the only reason why I won't post my art on the Internet, I'll only share it privately to my friends. The Internet is terrible when it comes to art.
Lois is an incredible woman, though the case about the little girl was disturbing. It takes a lot of strength to be able to draw someone's decomposing body, especially an innocent's child... Poor soul, i hope she rests in peace. Lois deserves every distinction
I love how you put the How's Moving Castle theme in the background of the video. I don't know the exact time stamp, but I thought I should still mention that. Also I liked the video!
I've taken a break from ig and honestly I've been improving my art skills and have been writing more and I have no problem taking my time to learn the basics of drawing. I'm surprised that I'm not missing much in the community. Great video ❤
Rip Qinni, though I may not know much about her, I bet she was a wonderful lady, what I do know for sure is that she is an amazing artist, my condolences goes to her friends and family, may she forever rest solemnly in peace.

Not gonna lie, all the crazy stuff that normal, peace-loving, mind-my-own-business artists had to deal with whenever someone doesn’t like their art and spews disgusting, untrue stuff about said artists, *scares me*. I kinda develop social anxiety both online and offline, well, particularly online, after watching these stuffs and no one and I mean NO ONE is an exception from Twitter/Tiktok insanity, not even the kindest, most unproblematic artists. That’s why I understand some Japanese artists block foreigners on twitter because they’re tired of being harassed. Makes me upset because I missed the joy of posting my art online. Now not anymore…
Nowdays, no online community can be normal. There have to be people that make controversy over the smallest things, just for attention and clout. RIP Qunni. I can't believe that people thought they could make profit off or her art just because of her passing. I wish the best blessings to her family. ❤
My father is a Latino and black man and he is extremely light skin, pale almost. Kids used to actually make fun of him for having lighter skin (this was in Honduras not America) it was so bad he got tattoos to cover it up. So yes light skin Latinos exist 💀 2:27

From the moment every "artist" on DeviantArt dunked on me for using references, I've known that the online art community is filled with embarrassing no-brainers with no talent or real training.
I love how you show appreciation for the art that is kinda incidentally involved in the stories you're telling, im not involved in art twitter at all but i enjoyed the stories + your positive/chill demeanor 😁
R.I.P to qinni. It is horrible that your art that you have spent hours on can be stolen within minuites , sometimes getting more popular than the original!

That Puss in Boots one just annoys me so much because I am Hispanic and light skinned. Where I live most of the Hispanics are tan or just darker in general so I would either get completely dismissed or made fun of because I don’t count as a “real” Hispanic. There seems to be this stereotype that in order to be Hispanic you must be tan, when there is more than one skin color. Twitter when they realize Hispanics can have different skin colors that are not tan: 🤯
I got a message from one of those Instagram NFT buyers today with screenshot immages of two of my pieces asking to buy them. I don't have a large online presence so I'm now terrified that my work is being stolen and no one will notice
Not only Im Spaniard but also from the same place as Puss in Boots is based on (Andalucía, the south). When I first watched the movie I was in awe to see a character from the same place as me and with the same accent, since andalucia's accent is normally mocked or we are asked to speak "normal". Unsurprisingly, americans had to demonstrate their lack in knowlege in geography because "Spanish= Mexico, and Mexico black bc we americans are the only white saviors of the continent". Let me be clear, more people in Andalucía are Spaniards and/or Moroccan, we are either white or brown, but more usually we are white as milk, maybe in summer we tan a bit
Twitter is a cesspool of diarrhea I still can't wrap my head on how there's supposed to an Art community on Twitter when there's too many Theft and Harassment. I'm not saying its not already happening on other websites but the amount of drama has been at a rise since Twitter and Tumblr
I think it's better to ignore twitter shiettalks, especially on a 500k channel. Talking about them just gives visibility to the 0.01% haters who wants to show people they exist, which ends up looking like almost everyone is as toxic, while the remaining 99.99% is being respectful and just have nothing to say.
My (and I’m assuming many others’) thoughts on tracing art is that it’s fine, as long as it has credit to the original artist stated and the tracer isn’t doing it for personal gain (merchandise, slandering/ changing the original art, etc.) Mostly, just be a good person and state your references and 9 times out of 10 it ends up well for both sides.
Quinni had been one of my favourite artists for years, and the day she died was a bitter one for me. I was fighting cancer myself, and the day she passed was also the day I learned I might need Radiation or chemo therapy after I just had a brain tumor removed. I'm fine now, but ever since every artwork I create that has something to do with working through that difficult time, will have some memory of Quinni attached to it.
It's funny how USA is a multi-ethnic nation and they don't understand the concept of ethnically mixed cultures. Even in its cultural variety, the United States is a segregationist country. This concept of cultural segregation is not historically compatible with Spain or with Latin America, since its culture and ethnicity has always been more mixed and not as segregationist.
May Quinni rest well, and I will admire her work. Another good artist will never create another piece of work. Those who steal artists work for personal profit is just disgusting and vile. YUCK.
Fr lol it pisses me off as a French Catalan and Corsican, but also man the absolute stupidity of that whole situation makes me laugh, and Mohammed's commentary is great lol
A big portion of the hispanic or latino people ive met in my life have actually had fairly light skin. And i feel like usually they pay more attention to their ethnicity or nationality than their "race". Like Colombian, Honduran, Brazilian etc. So its weird for people to so confidently act like someone is "whitewashing" a non human character who is also based on people who have skintones of like literally every shade because history is complicated.
Lois Gibson's story has always made me cry. She is such an inspiration for me to not ever give up, rise up above my difficult experiences, and use that growth to help others. Thank you for this video!
Honestly it's kinda sad what art community has become, especially on tiktok, where newer artists are always discouraged and older artists are called out for simple mistakes, both of which turn into "art lore" and I just think it's really unfair, like I was scrolling through tiktok yesterday to see a beginner artist not even do thst bad and they already had people going "oh" and tagging others, it's just so rude I mean, art is a medium for everyone to express themselves skilled or not at it

The sentence "latinos can't be white, they are tan and dark skinned" literally screams that mean girls moment "if you're from Africa why are you white?"
Since I'm latina and white I've heard this more times than I can count....
I'm Mexican and have fair skin just like my mom. Though my dad has brown skin. I don't understand their logic

As an artist, one of many things I hate is when folks think they’ve “fixed” someone else’s work by either race or gender swapping the characters. You’re not doing anything great. That’s narcissism and not creative whatsoever.
Most of the popular examples of that are just rage bait, don’t waste ur time lol
@@no1legobatmanfan I don’t. I’m just sayin it’s a dumb trend and glad most see through it anyway.
Where does the "fixing" end and the fan-art begin with something like that??
@@user-th1pv6ks5o IMO, it's all in the intent and the way you present your work. If you post it and claim you made the original "better", "fixed" it or otherwise insinuate the original work/character was somehow wrong or lesser, this is "fixing". If you just say something like "I wanted to see what X would look like as Y", there is nothing wrong here.
I agree, and I think the people who comment under the "fixed" post saying " I usually don't like fixed art, but this is an exception" is really rude to the original artist and hypocritical in there beliefs

@@VzoZel Well, as some have said,
"History is written by victors." Which is true, until the losers start telling their side, as well.
Thing that pops up on their mind is "I want to get what they have", not "I want to create what they made".
I feel like there are usually one of two reasons (with some variation):

Yup seems to be only Americans forgetting that Spain is in Europe right next to France, so the majority of people are white
Most Americans are not that stupid, Twitter is a special case. That being said, what reference do you imagine we have? The only thing most of us have to go on is movies, and all the Spanish people we see look about like Antonio Banderas, thank you, Hollywood, for incessant type casting.

I have no doubt in my mind that Quinni - and the galaxy girl speedpaint more specifically - greatly influenced me into art as well.
The years would pass by, and I would come back again, and my admiration for her would only grow. I was shocked when i heard of her disease, and even more when I heard of her passing.

@@MohammedAgbadi have you heard of the recent racist controversy with Kooleen an artist of 2 mil subscribers? She called a black character a gorilla-looking....
@@himalayansalt32
she called a jawline “gorilla looking”, and i think people attributing that to her calling people of colour “gorilla looking” is a big leap. however, the lack of diversity in her art as a big creator is an issue, and her art tips for anatomy are very specific and often european or south east asian -centric.
@@aquasioxI don’t think the diversity issue is exclusive to Kooleen tho. I mean, look at Samdoesart, he draws the same girl and is a huge art creator.

for sure! and i remember him being called out on it a lot on twitter after he drew yassified bella ramsay (a huge disservice to them bc they’re actually gorgeous) but it lasted five minutes and people forgot about it. it seems to be a pretty huge issue in the art and media community in general. diversity is more interesting! moving away from this whole issue would make art more inclusive, but also more enjoyable to make and consume in my opinion.
Mexicans can be White, not only light-skinned.
I mean look at that dumbass twitter reply who said antonio banderas was dark skinned when he's light as fuck, and he is spanish LMAO
the idea that Spaniards are darker skinned (compared to other europeans) is because of Moorish heritage (unsure if that's the accurate word or just old fashioned). basically having lots of north african ancestors because of all the north african people who moved into spain starting back in medieval times. not all spaniards of course, but some can be more tanned with dark hair and eyes and mediterranean features.
in western ireland, people with a natural tan and dark hair and eyes are called spanish irish because they likely have family from the spanish sailors who used to harbor in western ireland as a major trade route. that idea that spanish people may be darker skinned is not a bad thing nor is it untrue per say. it's just not true for everyone in spain.
same with italians. many in the south have north african and arab heritage when many in the north do not. it's ok to say youd like to see human puss and boots featuring antonio banderas more southern european looks. but the ginger interpretation is accurate too and fundamentally the artists choice. it's fun with his orange kitty cat fur 👍 and probably is a good reminder of the ethnic diversity in spain.
He’s not Mexican he’s from Spain he’s a a Spaniard we are white people
This is kind of why I am happy about being a creature artist.

Most anime characters are white, why would an anime game be different. It’s not totally related but your comment reminded me of the Sumeru skin color drama. Edit: IS THAT A SAKI PFP I SEE?
Exactly why I don't post none of my projects up until I copyright and trademark everything
WAY TO GO!!
I have worked as a forensic artist before
and then my mother pulled me out as I was doing dangerous job with undercover police officers
i saw the title, looked at my drawing, put it down, and cried for 2 minutes straight, then clicked, saw its what OTHER people have done and not the art community in general, cried again, watched. Great video bro! 👍
Much Love to Qinni’s Family and Friends and thank you to Qinni for blessing the planet with their art 😘😘😘😘😘
RIP Quinn, hopefully her family can recover from this horrible thing that art thief has done! That art is so beautiful..
as an artist, this type of drama and nonsense is why I don't post my art online much (I mostly show it to my irl friends and family) because I don't want my art stolen or getting into drama, and when I do post my art online I often reverse-image-search it to make sure it isn't stolen
My biggest regret will always be not knowing about Qinni before she passed on..
I love using 2 lines for my lineart but I always avoid using it, but seeing you line things twice scratches my brain and makes me want to do it
I just wanted to point out how beautiful his lineart is. I mean he draws in such a nice way, and the double lines ... I love your art
yeah bro, the art community has always been holding on by a thread, after creepshow art got exposed, all hell broke lose.
I love how you put the How's Moving Castle theme in the background of the video. I don't know the exact time stamp, but I thought I should still mention that. Also I liked the video!
Imagine being such a low scaled life form that you steal art from recently deceased and sell them as NFTs, disgusting. We miss you Quinni ❤
When art thieves steals small artists and gain more views than the original artists.
That happened to me. Twice. I hate them so much.
(great timelapse in the video btw 👌
The second one was heart breaking and I hope qinni’s family is doing alright. But the first one was so annoying. I’m a Latina and I am whiter then a ghost despite my father and my siblings having tan skin I got my mother’s skin, the amount of times I’ve been told I’m lying about my race is insane :/
your videos are always so binge worthy and make for a good comfort channel, amazing artwork btw!
Forensic artists need more respect. I remember watching them in old movies but i would love to meet them in real life.
Not exactly related to the topic but I just re-discover your video again and I love the speedpaint format!
I swear it’s always the blue bird app with the drama
bluebird app is OP
@@MohammedAgbadi there is always drama. Sorry to post under this section, but I want to hear your opinion on a big tiktok/youtube artist, called kooleen, who has racist/problamatic allegations. It involves Poc people's feature getting erased or whitewashed. She also stated a POC side profile of a black woman as a "gorilla looking mf" and "fix it" to fit into a eurocentric standard (the original artwork was not in anime style like her personal style). She seems to be ignoring the issue, but the evidence is all over online on tiktok, Twitter and TH-cam after She deleted the video. A youtuber Rin also spoke of this issue.
Great video. Nice line weight on the time-lapse sketches.
My father is a Latino and black man and he is extremely light skin, pale almost. Kids used to actually make fun of him for having lighter skin (this was in Honduras not America) it was so bad he got tattoos to cover it up. So yes light skin Latinos exist 💀 2:27
halfway through the vid (Gorgeous Puss art got me here amen) and your art in the bg?? Man it's the first time I see your style and it looks so good, I love the way the sketch has double lines? It's such a cool characteristic
I adore Quinni's artworks, her creations is what inspires me to create my own indie game.
RIP May Quinni💖✨
I can’t believe how low people have gotten that we can’t even leave the dead in peace ? It’s honestly sickening.. My prayers go to Quinni’s family and friends.
I like your linework, its really good. I never thought of using a double line brush like that
That's a funny way to spell "high key"
Edit: The story of the dead artist's stolen art is just... heartbreaking and infuriating. Justice for Qinni!
NOT QINNIART TF? I LITERALLY SAW HER IN THE MIDDLE OF PANDEMIC AND SHE WAS ALR GONE BEFORE I FIND OUT ABOUT HER. WHAT THE HELL
Is it just me or am i hearing the same thing repeat and repeat about the forensic artist😭
I love the double-lined lineart you have for your art style, it’s really recognizable and adds a lot of shape and depth to your art.
I would also like to pay my respects to Quinni. May her soul rest in peace knowing that her art is loved and appreciated by many.
Twitter is a cesspool of diarrhea
I still can't wrap my head on how there's supposed to an Art community on Twitter when there's too many Theft and Harassment. I'm not saying its not already happening on other websites but the amount of drama has been at a rise since Twitter and Tumblr
1:54 ok so that’s a slur in the screenshot. The fourth word in the parentheses is just a slur used against the Romani.
I think it's better to ignore twitter shiettalks, especially on a 500k channel. Talking about them just gives visibility to the 0.01% haters who wants to show people they exist, which ends up looking like almost everyone is as toxic, while the remaining 99.99% is being respectful and just have nothing to say.
nft “artists” when someone dies (they’d make for a great nft and fat stacks of cash)
god, i just need to say that your art style makes me so happy to watch!! seeing the way you draw body shapes makes my heart soar
My (and I’m assuming many others’) thoughts on tracing art is that it’s fine, as long as it has credit to the original artist stated and the tracer isn’t doing it for personal gain (merchandise, slandering/ changing the original art, etc.)
Mostly, just be a good person and state your references and 9 times out of 10 it ends up well for both sides.
Last time I checked Spain was home to all shades of skin not just one.
YUCK.
There are forensic sculptures too who also amazingly catches criminals through their work. 😊💖
It's like they saw the Spiderverse movie and think every Spanish-speaking person is as dark as Miguel O'Hara. 🤣
May Quinni rest in peace her art was beautiful and she will be remembered as a good person and a great artist ❤
Honestly it's kinda sad what art community has become, especially on tiktok, where newer artists are always discouraged and older artists are called out for simple mistakes, both of which turn into "art lore" and I just think it's really unfair, like I was scrolling through tiktok yesterday to see a beginner artist not even do thst bad and they already had people going "oh" and tagging others, it's just so rude I mean, art is a medium for everyone to express themselves skilled or not at it
It took me waaaay too long to realise that Bluebird isn’t an art app I have never heard of…
