IT'S FINALLY ARRIVED! Thatching the roundhouse with TA OUTDOORS - An insight into the next stage!

- This slightly different VLOG style video will take you on a journey with myself and Mike from TA OUTDOORS and show you the next stage in our awesome build of the Roundhouse. We head to a local thatch factory in search of our roofing materials - Water reed thatch! Water reed thatch has been used for thousands of years as a form of roofing and, fortunately for us, is grown and processed locally... right here in our home county of Somerset! It took three trips to collect as we weren't 100% sure on the amount needed. Awesome and worth the wait. Please take your time and make the thatch look uniform when you start blending it. You have no idea how much I still wish I could come over the pond and fix the thatch on the Saxon house!! Will be lovely to see how it turns out and then the camp out. Cheers!

Another day on the farm. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I just got in range of a cell tower to watch this. Been on a three week survival course. On this course you get one hand axe, one bush knife, and one ball of twine. Everything else you have to find or make yourself. Loads of fun putting skills to the test.

@@BUSHCRAFTTOOLS i finished the course. Had a nice shelter built snares and fresh water supply from a spring . We did the course in the mountains. Twenty of us started 7 completed the course. We split the 3500 completion prize. It was a real eye opener for some people. The things our ancestors achieved with primative tools was incredible. Our next survivial course is shedualed for next year. It will be a 6 week survival course. We will only be allowed five items at the start of the course next year. I can't wait.

WOW...that building sure holds a lot of thatch ...is thatch only used on older houses, or new construction also?? I have never seen any thatched roofs here in the USA. Whew!!! carrying job well done... 👍👍👍

@TA Outdoors and @BUSHCRAFT TOOLS - I have a question: the farm where your Bushcraft forest is - how did you pursued the farmer to let you use their land (forest) and do you have to pay rent to them to do so?? - I'm curious how one goes about acquiring land they can bushcraft on. Thanks in advance.

How do you talk a farmer into giving you permission to use one of his woodlands for camping.? How do you go about gaining trust and what would the farmer have to gain from you camping on his woodland. Just after some ideas so i can persuade one of my local farmers to give me permission. Thanks for any advice
Just approach landowners and tell them what you have in mind. Be honest and polite! Oh....and dont forget to smile!
