I think the reason why this movie was not in theaters is because well the sad thing is people or Disney don’t think that it is interested for a disability character to struggle with normal people. But to me this sounds like an underdog movie and I would definitely love it if that was in a movie theater.
I get what you’re saying but I work at a movie theater and movies like this come to the theater but no one goes to see them. Champions was probably the most successful but only older people were going to see it. Disney is just playing to the market🤷♂️
I think it's because it goes against their branding to the larger public of animations and fantasy, I haven't watched the movie, but from the sounds of it the movie is more grounded and less fantastical
Theater worthy movie? This is a cute movie, that is heart warming, but it's one that I would expect to see on the Hallmark channel not one to see in a theater. And what direct to dvd movie are you speaking of? Moana 2? Yeah, you're right, Disney should have done that direct to Disney+ they don't need that $300+ million it made the opening holiday weekend.
Because the movies at the theaters actually make money. Disney isn’t stupid, they know what they are doing and that’s why when they put out movies they are going to make money whether the movie is good or bad. For example Moana 2, it’s most likely making a billion dollars and it’s not a good movie.
You really think they would rather put a movie that no one has any idea about rather than a Moana 2? No, the first movie was a huge success and the second movie was almost guaranteed to make loads of money. Plus Moana is one of disneys biggest brands
Dude, this was one of our old book club books and we all loved it! It's insane to see it got adapted into a movie and it did so well. Hopefully they finally get around to adapting Cinder into a movie series.
As someone with Cerebral palsy I’ve got to respect them for it. (Mine is mild as in weaker arm strength and leg strength )but I have to respect them for making things
Spoiler warning Oh, you’re still here this will be your second warning OK, seriously this is your last warning before I put my thoughts up there I really like this movie because at the end of the day it just felt real. Let me elaborate. When Melody had her speech at the end. This was around the end of the movie. I like the fact that no one instantly got up to apologize right away because with most movies at the end, the characters would apologize to the main character for their behavior, Throughout the movie but that didn’t happen at the end and that’s the part I like because it just felt real. But anyhow, that’s all I have to say.

I think disney just doesn’t want to take risks on new stuff, and just do the easy thing of making money off of things that they know people will definitely respond to, like sequels or spinoffs to films that are already very popular and new stuff from well known cinematic universes like marvel or star wars
Thanks for acknowledging that Disney still makes really good original movies but only releases them on their streaming service. We need more people to know about this so Disney can start releasing them in theaters!
It's because of Revenue Potential and Risk. Honestly with how most movies from this year and the next two are mostly remakes and sequels, the public clearly prefer those over good films like the northman and tf one, makes sense why Disney made this movie streaming only. Less chance of it flopping. It sucks but the public chose it
I'm guessing the reason it was dropped on streaming instead of theaters is because Moana 2 was originally meant to be tv show, but after failures like Wish they really needed a win again so they Frankensteined Moana 2 from a tv into a movie sequel in under a year so they can create the same success as the 1st movie (unfortunately it was successful) rather than take a chance with this one.
How is Disney supposed to sell a ton of merch and theme park tickets with this? even if Marvel, Star Wars stuff get shredded online, little kids still buy toys and go to Disneyland with their parents. That is where the real money is. Low budget movies are there just to fill the Disney Plus slate 😅😅😅
I saw the trailer for this movie.
