    Makes me wish I had a cartridge post but instead I have a baggy reverb. I’d love an in-depth video on how to sort that out. I think air has got past the ifp so it may need a full strip and rebuild.

    • @bluebomberx5
      @bluebomberx5 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Chris Ivens it’s not hard. It’s just tedious. SRAM has service manuals on their website and videos on TH-cam. You can try a quick hack to see if you can get the air to exchange sides. With your seat extended, turn your bike upside down. Depress the dropper lever and push down on your bottom bracket to lower the seat fully. Turn the bike right side up and you might have a solid post again for a ride.

    I have been looking for a video on servicing a Highline dropper. I need to change the collar on it. I fell off my bike inside a canal tunnel Not sure how and I would not recommend it. The only part of the dropper that got damaged was the collar. Now I know how to replace the collar. I will be. I will also do the service while I have the post apart.

Just about to change the cable on my externally routed dropper post today while in social issolation lockdown as the mechaninsm was sticking. Actualting the seat post from the leaver was no problem but the cable would then get stuck so my seat would not lock in the new position as it was like having actuatior pressed all the time. Any tips for keeping the new cable moving freely for longer so i'm not changing the cable too often?

    7:57 CLEAN the threads on this bolt before you reinstall it as it will have Loctite and gunge on it. If it locks up halfway you will have an insanely hard time trying to free it and may junk the dropper. This happened to me and i had to manufacture tools and a method to free it. I was within a gnat proverbial of junking it when the solution dawned on me (I even took it to a bike shop and they had no idea, but they did sell me a spare used dropper for cheap incase i needed it) and i was very lucky it worked.

    Maybe a small detail to most but how about the actual removal of the seat post? I assume it is not the same as a normal seat seeing that it is connected to an internally routed cable.

    • @dereknoto9969
      @dereknoto9969 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unscrew your dropper lever and remove from the bars first and that will give you the slack to pull post out of frame after you remove the bolt of course.Then use needle nose pliers to remove small metal bead from its housing that connects the cable to actuator.

    • @willbell9642
      @willbell9642 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dereknoto9969 thank you. I have since figured it out. Two things, the hole that my internal dropper cable runs through also has the rear derailleur entering the same hole which made it very very tight and difficult to pull which actually stripped the cable housing. Two the amount of cable that runs from the lever to the hole is the perfect amount so once I pull the seat up I am able to undo the cable from the seat. I’ve serviced it twice since leaving this comment. Cheers

    • @willbell9642
      @willbell9642 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dereknoto9969 no I didn’t. I haven’t replaced the cable housing yet, when I do I am either going to reroute the rear derailleur cable or attempt to file the hole bigger, I’m hesitant to make the hole bigger as it is a carbon frame. I’ve asked around for info on it, everyone says a fresh fine file and I should be good😬

    Great bike , rides smooth th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing
