I did receive a refund for the Fake Samsung Micro SD Card, so I agreed not to name them. Just be aware, I checked the sellers feedback and several people had reported the user selling fake memory cards. So the moral for me and others is to always check feedback and if someone else mentions a fake memory card, then steer clear of that seller.

Quite obviously not a real Samsung Micro SD Card :) I knew it was a fake before I even opened the package but some people won't know until they have issues. Hence why I made this video so people can identify a fake Samsung Micro SD Card before they open it.

What puzzles me is, why do they even try to sell fake crap like this? Eventually people will find out, sooner or later.. and unfortunately will even loose precious picture and video when using it in a mobile phone. This just shows utter dumbness on the part of the wanna scammers... SMH!
Guess the best thing to do is be proactive, and run the H2Test on every single card regardless where it was bought at.

Samsung micros are made in Korea or the Philippines and are packaged in China or sourced to consumer countries. There are fakes out there but don't get everyone all frenzied up about it. Just buy from a reputable dealer and you will be guaranteed the quality product you ordered.

I bought a FAKE just recenlty from Ebay (in fact I've had two in as many weeks off Ebay) a 128gb Samsung Evo Plus and a SanDisc Extreme Pro 128gb The Samsung you mention here ticks every single fake box on your video. Something else I noticed too, ulike my other Genuine Samsung SD Card that I have had for years, is that on my phone it only shows up as 'SD card' where as my genuine one shows up as 'SanDisc Card', I also notice that on the back of the Samsung SD Card itself (in tiny writing) so you need a magnifier to see it, it says Made in Taiwan (and Made in Korea on the packaging) Also both fakes say 'your card is too slow. consider buying a faster card' in the Moto G4 phone. Thank you so much for this video, you have no doubt saved me from yet another fake. Incidentally the Samsung was only £9.99, fortunately I got the money back on this one, but still waiting to hear back from the seller that I bought the SanDisc from: that one was £29.99, so thought it would be OK, but it behaved in exactly the same way as the Samsung Evo in my phone - couldn't save anything to either - they just kept showing up as 'corrupted'.

Thanks for sharing. I recently received 4 -32 GB MicroSD Cards that literally had gold foil for the contacts. The truly sad thing is that they were sent here from the US and not shipped from abroad. The low life scum that did this should rot in data hell for the rest of their existence. I am not blaming all transactions that come from abroad, however, some jerk hole got burned and decided to create a flaming crap sandwich for others. Now I have to fight EBAY, Paypal and this bottom feeder for my money back. It takes time and that is time I lost. Of course they did not work, however, it made me test a few other cards I was suspect on for crashing in my devices or corrupting data. I used RMPrepUSB to test them and they were 8GB cards not the 64GB cards I paid for. For everyone else, spend the money through reputable places and not EBAY and get what you pay for. I have never got a bum card from Samsung direct, Dell, B&H, or Newegg. All buyers beware when you make purchases from suspect places. Sorry to rant on your post. Keeping making video's!

Good video (I'm a bit late to watch!) What is annoying is I watched a video of some dude supposedly reviewing a Samsung 256GB EVO card, and saying how its no good etc... then we find out he got it on Amazon from some seller. That actually infuriates me just as much as the sellers of fakes!
Samsung have exceptional standards for their products, so people whining on TH-cam should check they have the real deal before they try to soil the reputation of what are essentially the best SD cards money can buy! Cheers

korea or philippines is an indicator of it being genuine if it is china or taiwan big indicator of fake samsung card. as samsung only has plants in south korea and philippines you will only ever get genuine cards from those 2 locations. also samsung has a patent on the white edge design for exactly this reason. further bad news you are not safe from sellers of repute amazon had a supply contamination in their own stock so it is literally gambling if you get a real card or fake... best advice is to test your card if it doesn't pass scratch and sniff test and a write + verify then return it.

The old adage "You get what you pay for!" certainly hold true with SDCards... Best advice is to buy it from a local big box store (forget online!), which will reduce the chances of ending up with fake cards significantly. As a tip, regardless of where it was brought from, simply run the H2Test on every single card to avoid being scammed. ;)

I bought Samsung 32gb (class10) MicroSD memory card similar colour packaging (the fake one you showed) from ebay for £6. Nothing triggerd me to think that it was a fake card apart from your video. The print on the card and packaging looks very clear and accurate to me. Though on the back of the card said Made in Korea and model number ended up with CN as well. When I inserted my card in the slot, it showed 29.4gb available space and I ran the H2testw. Test went very well without any error. Writing speed was 18.1MByet/s and Reading speed 30.0MByet.
I took the screenshot of the test result but there is no option to upload it here with the comment.
    Do you think its fake?
N.B: forgot to mention that side of the memory card is also black. NOT WHITE.

The fake you got has the correct number font, most fakes I've seen have a different number font which makes these fakes easier to weed out.
Never purchase Micro SD cards online without being able to see pics unless you are buying directly from Samsung or Sandisk, way too many fakes in the wild.
Ebay has a load of fakes right now, if seller uploaded non stock pics, you can kind of tell if the SD card is fake by looking at the card and packaging.

I called the post office to find out what is going on and they are to be talking to my mail person to see what happen. I got a card off ebay (a 64gb Evo with a 60MB/s write speed and a 100MB/s read speed) - was a bit sceptical at first as it was about half the price of the ones sold in store but I guess curiosity got the better of me and I bought it.... I've done the tests you mentioned and the speed seems to be fine when writing/reading on the computer, however when I use the card in my drone to shoot in 4K in 100mbps (approximately 12-13MB/s), I keep getting errors and the drone will stop recording saying the SD card is too slow.
Out of all the other things you mentioned, the only thing different from my packaging to what you mentioned is the "Model Code" next to the barcode. Mine has /APC - different from the "official" ones and also different from your fake one being /CN.
Seeing as this video was made about 2 years ago, no doubt counterfeiters watch videos like this and improve their fakes........ what do you think the chances are that mine is a fake?

I have also had similar problems with pen drives sold at very low prices. Having much less capacity, and failing to write files even though the software reported successful write.
I am also suspicious about items at very low price with very far shipping dates and wide range of arrival dates. They never arrive. If you contact the seller they react very apologetic asking to wait a little longer please. I have agreed and it doesn't arrive. Contact again and they said they will ship another item. Finally, at the end they issue a refund. This happened enough times to be a noticeable pattern. To me is a tactic because some buyers at developed countries don't care to track items of very low value. But the currency exchange rate makes it significant for the seller at one of these third world countries. They are betting on the chance that buyer will not remember the purchase or won't take the time to reclaim or even won't know how to use eBay features to follow up. They keep the money and don't deliver. I contacted eBay to inform this tactic, but I believe there is nothing in the eBay system to detect the scam. What I do is not to buy memory devices at ridiculous low prices.

Thanks mate! This really helps. Was planning to buy one and wus considering buying one on OLX Whichs way cheaper than Amazon. But I guess when it comes to these memory cards it's wiser to spend a little extra and be safe than sorry.

Bought a 128Gb Samsung. Can't even run a test, laptop, desktop, phone and tablet wont even recognize it. Mine was exactly like yours, Korea, CN, Black edges, etc.
And the sd adapter fell apart in my hand!

You will get occasional fakes even from Prime sellers. However, getting a free and fast refund with Prime makes the risk worthwhile because you save so much.
Ebay, OTOH, stay far away from ANY SD card on there.

Hey dude. I know this is an old video but I really appreciate the info. I got a 64 gb samsung evo class 10 U3 card for my 4k video drone. Worked for a few days then just stopped. Error message from the drone. I thought there was something wrong with the bloody drone! Guess what colour the edge of the card is.... Black! Checked the write speed. Supposed to be 60mbs. its actually 11mbs. write speed supposed to be 100 - actually 19. Jammy bastards selling this shit. Keep up the great work and great video.

Why was, "Made in Korea," a tip-off to being counterfeit, when Samsung is a Korean tech company? That's like saying that a Nikon or Canon is fake because it said, "Made in Japan."

Can you do a video on fake Kingston Sd cards... its so hard to tell. I even bought one from a retail seller and still ended with something that was fake. I ended exchanging it back for cash. 99% of all Kingston Sd cards on ebay are all fake as well.

I was beginning to believe the 100mb reading and 80mb writing on the packages for the different cards, Was just was just false advertising. All of mine(most from e-bay) reads and writes at a steady almost 30 and 27mb respectively, so I was under the impression that that was the standard. But watching this I`m beginning to suspect all my cards are questionable at best.

Re: eBay Feedback. I had a seller outright lie to me and eBay knew it. eBay removed my negative feedback after I entered it. It seems that eBay will remove negative feedback at the request of a seller. So eBay feedback is not always reliable.

I'm confused. My mem is made in 'Korea', the adapter is made in China (1 year guarantee for adapter mentioned), punch hole through the card, white edges on the memory card and the bar code says EU (im from the UK). So apparently a lot of the signs indicating authenticity are there but it's made in Korea. Can anyone assure me I don't need to worry about it being unauthentic/original? Would appreciate an opinion..

I bought several sdcard and everytime they turned out fake ,I found on the 64gb if I put more than 7gb on card it corrupts the files .I bought another one from a new seller and exactly the same if fact everytime I would buy a new one from different people not all from ebay but they turned out corrupt, I can only assume the whole of Europe and Asia is infected with thousands of them in the end I spent over two hundred GBP on cards only to trash them .Its not one make I tried all the top and some cheap and no where was spared .in the end I bought from a over priced shop but it was alot cheaper than buying a card 5 or 6 times

I have a card which looks legitimate but my read/write speeds are way slower than they "should" be.
.. Then again. The manufacturer isn't specifying whether the speeds they're listing are Sequential or Random.

Is there anyway to get the files or were they just never written to it? There's one short video I had wanted from it but I'm guessing it's impossible to recover it
