45 year old dad who showed his 15 year old daughter The Lost Boys for the first time about 6 months ago. I sat her down and said…”it’s time”. She loved it and I never felt more pride. We have watched it 3 more times since. One thing I truly realized watching it with her that I took for granted…is that EVERY vampire death is absolutely epic and the special effects and makeup for each death is truly amazing. I’d rank the creativity and technical execution up there with anything ever produced on film.
Tim Capello .. a lovely man. He lived in an apartment complex in Hollywood that my mother managed. While he was doing this film he had parked his car in long term parking at the LAX airport. Somehow he lost his keys while he was working on the movie so he called my mother and she had me and my boyfriend at the time take a spare set of his keys to LAX and hide them in his car at like 2 AM so he could drive himself home after he flew in. We loved the movie and were so happy and proud of him to have been a part of it.
35:56 THIS is VERY important. Completely agree. You don't have to say anything to say a lot. They made it happen and that's amazing. I personally love the acting of them all. Their faces, their attitude the way they look at there people in the movie, the style. Great job man, like pretty good job imo.
He was in the beginning "pretty Boy" era, had he come up when Pacino, Voight, Hoffman, and all those guys of the "unconventional" leading man era, he probably would have been a bigger star.
I did see it in the theater and even at a drive-in. I was 18, and it was amazing. I remember riding home from the theater on my motorcycle with Lost Boys music playing in my head. Great memories.
The Lost Boys is my all time favorite vampire film. It came out in 1987 the year I was born. I bought the Movie Poster and had it hanging in my house. Absolutely love the cast
Woooo! Santa Cruz! When the SC Boardwalk started playing movies on the beach about a decade ago they opened it with this movie and they had Corey Feldman's band perform. It was great!
The Lost Boys is classic and could never be redone. I am addicted to that movie and had the biggest crush on Jason Patric. Now like Kiefer said I’ve introduced my kids to it and they love it just as much.
Kiefer's voice and mannerisms seem to carry a gravitas inherited from his father to which he has made his own. His face and mannerisms are iconic, unique, and memorable. If you listen to his voice, you know it's Kiefer. I believe that is why he is frequently cast.
SO fun and timeless it's an 80s classic - always fresh! I remember seeing it at theater back in 1987 with my college boyfriend! The music, vibe, feast for the eye, humor, vampire horror it was just such a perfect movie. I wanted to be Jami Gertz with her boho gypsy chic look that was way ahead of it's time.
They seemed to have had a tour or something in '23. The other two i get, but Kiefer 100% doesnt need to do this sort of thing. Either the pay was incredible or he genuinely likes doing them. I like to think he just really likes doing these panels.
The late great Donald upset quite a few people in Hollywood over the years , and Kiefer has said that the Sutherland name closed as many doors as it opened early in his career …
The movie was so good in the way it was filmed. I love that they never show the vampires flying. That made the scenes much more intriguing and mysterious. Much better that overproducing movies with special effects nowadays.
Also read that his grandfather Jackie Gleason, didn't have much to do with him as a child. He wasn't close to him whatsoever. Why? Couldn't say. But a great movie family heritage to hail from thou.

I wished I could have stayed for this. My mother and brother got to meet Alex Winter and got their photos with him. They said he was so sweet. I had to wait in line with my kid to see Matthew Lillard so I missed out on meeting Alex. I ran out of money so I didn't get to meet Kiefer or Jason but hopefully someday I will. On another note I would have asked Alex about that awesome jacket that he got to wear in the movie. I really want a replica of that jacket.
Jason Patrick was the best actor in the film. He had more of a emotional rollercoaster to deal with. The main ingredients to a good film is a great story and great actors.
Perhaps, but Patrick is and was very arrogant. Humble is not a quality he possessed. I honestly believe that is why his career never blossomed, that and his hairline. Poor guy was damn near bald by 30.

Great cast of guys. Jason Patric's grandfather was Jackie Gleason and Kiefer Sutherland's grandfather was Tommy Douglas, a politician who laid the foundation for eventual universal health care in Canada.
My favorite quote from the movie is when Grandpa turns the car on with Sam to go to town, and then turns it off and says, "that's as close to ton as I like to get"!
He good in one with Jennifer Jason Leigh and Greg Allman too where he's undercover narc cop, also real good movie with him no one's ever seen is Incognito where he forges paintings.

Jobs, relationships, decisions we make... If I could meet 2 celebs... (yet one is past away) it would be Kiefer and River Phoenix. The things they say are always so relatable.
I watched The Lost Boys when I was 10 years old and like everyone else of my generation it became a huge part of my childhood it was my go to film. Just recently I introduced my 12 soon to be 13 year old to it and it's now going to be a huge part of her childhood as she's obsessed with it the same way I was. The Lost Boys has impacted many, many people qnd it's great to see it being passed down the generations! It's a film that truly deserves it!
Brooke McCarter was unable to attend as he passed away a few years ago. He was a good friend of my brother’s. Real down to earth, wonderful guy. (He was the blonde vampire behind Alex and Kiefer).
Joel Shumaker gets a lot of heat with the Batman movies. But he was a great, caring, very innovative director. He really was a great director. Btw my sister and I saw this movie 7 times that summer and read the novelization over and over

I work as a chauffeur and drove Jason Patric to the hotel he stayed at for this con. He seemed like a very cool and sweet guy. I need to see more of his work honestly, even though I'd of course known of him for many years. I'm a huge fan of 'The Exorcist', which his late dad Jason Miller starred in, so I had to discuss that a bit w/ him.
@@garypasquill2355 I'll pass on 'Speed 2' haha, but yeah, 'Sleepers' would be worth a revisit (I first saw it at too young an age and never finished after the 3rd act/trial segment). Also need to look at 'Rush', w/ him, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bruce Dern. Had the pleasure of meeting Dern once.

Despite the vampire stuff, this story is big because this ia a movie about brotherhood, and how the younger brother tried to save his old brother, which in sort of way that's his father figure, because they just have their mother. That's the deep meaning of this movie, and the timeless topic. I aways give this advice to other younger parents, have at least two kids, never has only one kid, sibblings always gonna be an aliance against the issues of life, aside of us as the parents.
