@Sumeran maybe an idea for you. Show what can be be bought and cooked for R50 , R100 inclusive of bread 🍞 like a full meal. Also go to one of the local Indian supermarkets not a big brand store . You might be surprised.
@azharcassim2795 yes also Sumeran instead of the big name try the roadside stalls and the local small shops .your R20 might go further . Don't know where you live .I live at tongaat. Lots of roadside fruit n veg stalls .some good grocery stores . Check first maybe they might even be willing to help you
Hey sumeran good to see you grow.. You are real and simple... Love that.... And yes you can get supper for R20....at the local tuckshop..... Also try local shoprite.... R6 bread and few potatoes.... Make chips or potatoe curry.... Also a packet of noodles with one onion and a scrambled egg.... You might also make it for bottle of water or a cheap juice..... Do more videos with 20rand meal budget..... Like to see more of your videos..... Keep going.... And thank you
Because you don't cook you won't know. So 1st mistake you went to a supermarket that does not really cater for a person on a 20 buck budget Your best bet would have been your local spaza. Meal 1 (similar to yours) Can of beans R7 2 loose eggs R4 1 onion R2 1 tomatoe R2 1/2 loaf bread R5 Meal 2 (my choice) 2 Pakkie noodles😅...R15 savings Meal 3 ( on the real) 1 can of ready made soup R10 1/2 loaf bread - toasted R5 2 loose eggs - well fried R4 Packet of go slos R1 Survivor?
Well in my town at Shoprite they have few food options for like R20. Shoprite subsidies some food items. Like buy a cup of soup and vetkoek R5. Porridge with stew R5. Porridge stew and egg R7.50. A bread for R9. Then a sausage roll for R10. Then they make 2 potatoes with a piece of chicken rice and bit gravy...between r11 to R17
Veg much cheaper at the street stalls. Shoprite offers some crazy deals for R10 etc even have a loaf of bread for R5 (on which I was told they dont make any profit of it)
I cant believe R20 cant get u much to make a meal. I suppose Shoprite is cheaper. They sell unsliced bread for R5. Then bake beans is R10 plus onion, tomato would make a bunny chow. Still have to borrow loads of chillies from mum but thats a filling meal. Plus hint, I wouldve used entire onion cos everything taste better with extra onions. They also have can mixed vegetable for R15 so work around that. lol
Dont forget the chaarous diet half loaf bread and 2 pack garlic polony.coolaid🎉🎉🎉.kla..or half white and potatoe or fresh fries..not mentioning oil and salt...🎉😂
Great idea Sumeran .. I'm sure all your fan's would love to see you do more challenges. ❤ Royço soup or mashed potatoes or cooked tomato chutney would have also covered your budget. Lol.. enjoyed your video
Because of your efforts, and to keep you going. Please accepts this humble NZ5 (that cant even buy me a coffee) to pay for this episodes R20 and get you a quarter lamb bunny (you might have to chip in an extra R20 LOL)
Yes it is quite expensive and as an adult i'm only finding this out now because my family usually does the shopping. A big eye opener this video has been for me.
You achieved the impossible...if you never had bread, it would have left you hungry....but surviving 😂 It's hard to make a family meal with R100, these day's.
Will definitely join the live stream. I love these challenge videos. You could do a whole series R20 at Pick n Pay... R20 at Food lovers... Try potato next time ..... How you ate Baked Beans without Masala????😂
Sumie! I would have gone for pap and chicken foot meal at R5 each. Two chickens worth for R20. Maybe do a show on deals and coupons available on fast food apps. Check you on the live bru!
You didn’t add oil or seasoning 🧂 , although the receipe required it .. would have equated much more than the budget allowed 😅 I love the idea SG .. keep it up and keep growing..
well done, almost a full meal without bread, maybe shops need to sell half loaf and quarter loaf because of cost of living increases. Also if you dont cry when cutting onions then your mother in law will love you. Lets hope you make it a nice time to go live for Australian viewers
Sumeran, I will focus on all the positiveness from this video. You hit the nail on the head, with cost of living. It is a cliche around the world but you are approaching it with such a soft and respectful attitude and just doing what you can with your goal for this video. Focusing on R20!!! That is $NZ1,83 (New Zealand) the cheapest "baked beans" i could find are 89c NZ (R9.73) One Small Onion 99c NZ (R10.83) 1 x Tomato (this is the big one) is 1.82 NZ (R19.90) NZ$12.99 a kg. If you went canned tomato its 99c NZ (R10.83) So total now in $NZ 3.7 (R40.47) with the canned tomato its $NZ 2.87 (R31.39). You had left over of something like R1.15 or whatever. Now Lets add in the 1 x Green Chilli and 2 slices of bread. Chilli is $NZ 0.36 (R3.94) and 2 slices of bread is vary variable, but a loaf here (Really cheap not healthy) is NZ$ 1.15 (R12.58) So lets just say R1.50 to be conservative for the bread. I found this fun to do, it may be incorrect too. But its amazing how prices have changed for all of us and that left over R1.15 you had is 1 x 10c coin here in NZ.
Lol out of budget with using the bread... U could have made a vegetarian pasta using a cheaper brand pasta.. Onions tomato n chilli..making it into a little chutney... U just went to the wrong store also.. In some stores 1 tomato would have been about a rand... But amazing effort.. The cost of living is really high
Hi Ruann It was hard to get bread as well with that budget. What is the cheaper brand pasta maybe I will keep that in mind for a future video. In terms of the store, I just picked a supermarket that can be found anywhere in South Africa so it appeals to a larger audience.
Hey... pnp has pnp brand pasta which is a little cheaper /checkers also has the checkers brand... Things now days are super price... I understand where u coming from though it was a great video
You should try doing reaction videos. They are popular now and can get you lots of views. Try reacting to music, movies or whatever. I can recommend some channels: village cooking channel, channel called BE AMAZED Maybe react to SA movies you haven't watched yet Lots of content you can react to
dude you going about this all the wrong way..if you spending R20 on 1 meal then takeout is the way to go...and you also shopping at the wrong store for cheapies
Hi, considering that the baked beans already has tomato sauce in it you could have skipped the tomato and got enough money for 1 bread roll.
Great idea 👌🏼 but it wouldn't be a SA "tamatie stew" without a tomato 🤷🏽♀️ LoL
Hi Kathija I actually didn't think of that. Good tip
Bro, R20 at Kara nichas tub Breyani. Sorted 😂 or even Patel’s, bunny and tea ☕️
1 can tomato, 1 can broad beans, 1 onion, beans bunny
Patel's is not cheap these days. You can buy only bhajia for 20 bucks
KN got me covered always. I've been supporting them for over 20 years. They're for the people.
Buy 6 eggs, best and healthiest to keep you full
Kara niches our kind of food they also supply checkers veg bar…….
These days the R100 is performing like R10.
😂😂😂😂
❤ FEELS 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@nirrigovender5154 lol. So true man.
So true yoh😂
Great video .makes a lot of sense what poor people go through.
Yeah, I was thinking this as well
@Sumeran maybe an idea for you. Show what can be be bought and cooked for R50 , R100 inclusive of bread 🍞 like a full meal. Also go to one of the local Indian supermarkets not a big brand store . You might be surprised.
A lot of people are saying that Shoprite is cheaper. Maybe I should try there.
@markgovender9840 I agree. Do the other shops too. But my suggestion is stick with the R20 at the other shops also. That's a real challenge.
@azharcassim2795 yes also Sumeran instead of the big name try the roadside stalls and the local small shops .your R20 might go further . Don't know where you live .I live at tongaat. Hi Munira thank you for all your tips and thank you for watching.
Nowdays not even a pie is R20
U went to an expensive store bro. If u went to a indian store baked beans R10 then onion tomatoes n potatoes plus small oil maybe
There's lots of options for R20.00 meals. Kara Nichas or any major grocery store (Not woolworths) - You'll find ready made meals at the deli counters.
Because you don't cook you won't know.
So 1st mistake you went to a supermarket that does not really cater for a person on a 20 buck budget
Your best bet would have been your local spaza.
Meal 1 (similar to yours)
Can of beans R7

Meal 2 (my choice)
2 Pakkie noodles😅...R15 savings
Meal 3 ( on the real)
1 can of ready made soup R10
1/2 loaf bread - toasted R5

His "wifey" is actually his cousin, Tamea, doing the filming.
Great video 👌🏻 you should definitely make a video with a R50 budget , that would be very interesting
I will definitely do that.
This was educational my friend. Wow. R20 budget is wild😅
I cant believe R20 cant get u much to make a meal. I suppose Shoprite is cheaper. They sell unsliced bread for R5. Then bake beans is R10 plus onion, tomato would make a bunny chow. Hi Ferhana thank you for all the tips.

With the change of R1,15, you could have got 1 chilli to add some spice to the baked beans curry.
Because of your efforts, and to keep you going. Please accepts this humble NZ5 (that cant even buy me a coffee) to pay for this episodes R20 and get you a quarter lamb bunny (you might have to chip in an extra R20 LOL)
Borrow green chillies from your mother😂 Sumeran, onions can't make you cry you such a funny guy, your videos are so entertaining 👍

Guys food has gone up so much back home? 😮 That’s Crazy! Great video as always!
Yes it is quite expensive and as an adult i'm only finding this out now because my family usually does the shopping. A big eye opener this video has been for me.
Good video you should have use the R1'20 to buy a chilli you should have made but good staff
You cannot buy a single chilli bro..minimum allowed in supermarkets is 100g which is like R4/R5 per 100g
You achieved the impossible...if you never had bread, it would have left you hungry....but surviving 😂
It's hard to make a family meal with R100, these day's.
Hi Terence yeah it is but id like to try a R100 challenge.
Well done my guy!
