New Rumors Point to One Major Circuit Banning FFS!

- There has been a lot of talk this past weekend among professional anglers regarding recent developments towards the banning of FFS by one of the major tournament organizations. Up until now, one of the big hurdles has said to have been the big dollars that the three big electronics companies put into these organizations. Now there seems to be an alternative financial source that may be ready to support the ban of FFS.

BAN FFS....the sooner the better. Bring back skill based competition.
Sure seems like the simplest and most effective solution
Awww 😢, because those who don't have the skill to do it since it's soooo easy. Yet seems only some are really good at it. Such a joke.
@jonathanstewart9838 how about suck it up and learn it, or stop crying. There is a solution
Watching someone lose his mind trying to make fish that he can see strike a lure is very entertaining . I have witnessed many people fish all day and still get skunked even with FFS…
I’m all for it! I hope the rumors are true. I think there’s something to be said for learning and hopefully perfecting different techniques. I think that’s the real telling factor of a professional angler.
Same here!
Pro anglers should rely on their skills to catch fish, not technology. Tourneyments should should be fair Chase only.
HEy BUB..it takes skill to learn how to use electronics you clown..lol@@garryjistel280
@@garryjistel280 It takes skill to learn electronics bub..They all have the same resources available to them..NOTHING is an uneven playing field...Randy brainwashed you bub just like propaganda opinion journalists have done to people...
I think it's nothing but a money game. The more money these companies have the more likely you are going to see their name at the tournaments. This sport is now becoming a rich man's game. This SUCKS for the average Joe just trying to have a good time on the water. It's driving the cost of everything fishing out of reach for the average Joe. It's just not fun spending 100k just for a boat, but the rods, reels, tackle, and the cost of gas alone is going to kill this sport. But me personally ffs is not worth the money. 😢
We appreciate you tuning in and commenting!
I still fish out of an aluminum boat no electronics in public waters and still catch bass , you don’t need all that bull stuff to catch fish , but also I’m not some Johnny Bass Pro trying to make the house payment by catching a fish 😂
Dont focus on others. Plenty of aluminum boat guys kicking but out there.
I don’t think we’re gonna stop technology. If that was the case, we still have 1710 foot boats with a 150. Some days I try to figure out where a guy comes up with the money to buy $200,000 fully rig boat brand new pick up truck and he’s 20 years old. I think what really happening is tournament fishing is making a bigger change than just forward facing sonar.
It won't bring me back I'm done with them
I appreciate your input.
Who cares! Who are you! People like watching fish being caught! The camera can fix the watching part by not showing that and only the fish being caught! So those long periods of watching are not going to be shown anymore! Simple! I spent good money and they better not ban it or they are going to be finding themselves in court!
It is very boring watching it on tv !
Yeah it’s not so much looking at their backs but they’re not fishing using a single “boring to watch “ technique.
Yea cause staring at the back of John Cox Is so much more enjoyable..lmao what a clown...lol
Not about staring at John Cox it’s the fact he is dragging 5lbers out of grass mats. Not gonna see that with a spinning rod and FFS
@@michaelhowell2609 I don't care how I catch a 5#er..Its still a 5#er you clown🤡...
@inaslump you see how hateful you are to people that don't agree with you. I see this in every comment section and its always the same. Its always the people that are for it and they're the instant gratification all about me and what i want people. At this point idc and you all can keep your ffs. But you're gonna have to accept that a lot of people dont consider what you're doing any kind of accomplishment. Period. You'll never change our minds clown.
That would be a win for fish and for the bass fishing sport
I have to totally agree with at least 2 points regarding this topic; I can say AS A FACT that FFS is indeed killing the the sales of other forms of bass fishing baits. one local tackle shop tells me that overall sales have dropped by over 60% and all that they are selling is the FFS style baits. in fact I was PERSONALLY told that this shop will b closing its local location and will keep an online presence as long as they can, but they aren't holding out much hope.
second point, nearly every event I have fished in the heat of the summer has killed numbers of fish. I normally go back to the lake that was used for the event and too a TOURNAMENT, there are ALWAYS dead fish floating at, or near, the release points. I cant understand why so many fishermen don't realize that u cant catch a fish in 30-40 or even 60 feet deep and expect them to survive live wells and releases into shallow, sometimes in the upper 90 degree range here in central Texas, that a MAJORITY of those will more than likely die. really sad to c.
and one last thing, there was a pro angler that wrote an article in BASSMASTER a yr or so back discussing his witnessing numbers of dead fish all over the lake, Toledo Bend to b exact, after a BASS major event. So PLEADE don't give me the excuse that because BASS release fish from a boat in different parts of each lake that that CLEARLY MAKES NO DIFFERENCE as to delayed mortality rates of tournament fish.
I appreciate your comments.
People should also be upset with the states for not doing something. They're quick to limit the equipment you can hunt with but want to play dumb with this.
@@PoFolks_Capital I agree!
So wait, you want things banned. There are bag limits, those that exceed their bag limit should be prosecuted. It doesn't matter if it takes someone 2hrs or all day to catch his limit, they are still gonna go home with it. Maybe a lower bag limit then. I'm not for banning anything or restricting someone's choices. So if you banned it what about everyone who already his it....then what you have someone at every lake every day waiting to tell someone they can't do that? So the $$$$$ that would go to other projects as well as stocking and fish plants would be pulled to become Karen's at the boat ramp telling people they can't have that. That's what you want? 😂😂 it's not doable and stupid.
@@fisherman7275 I haven't kept a fish in decades
In my opinion, it's the meat hunters that we need to be most concerned with as far as FFS goes. Crappie populations in Kentucky and Tennessee are being wiped out extremely rapidly. Bass populations as well. This is where fish and wildlife needs to step in. We're already seeing adjustments made to daily and creel limits, but the problem there still lies in enforcement. There aren't enough officers to monitor.
you make good points. I did an episode on that very idea a while back.
I tried googling the profit of some of the top tackle and electronic companies, it looks like the electronic companies have the capital that most of the tackle companies do not. Everyone has their own opinion regarding FFS, but realistically I think it's here to stay. We've been watching the backs of anglers on tv for years.....why else would sponsors pay to put the logo there. If you want to make FFS less of a factor, schedule the events to reflect that. Schedule shallow water, power fishing bodies of water during times when offshore fishing is less productive. Just my .02
I think you’re .02 are right on!
Weird. Randy said FFS was going to impact lure sales and he was laughed at. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@squonto47 he wasn’t laughed at by me!
Instead of banning it couldn't the bigger trails like BASS, MLF etc just limit the number of live transducers and the number of screens or inches of screens, I mean some of these guys are running 3 /4 black boxes with transducers on front and back of their boats!
As MLF/BPT continues to push for more television, FFS will have to go to make it more entertaining for the viewers and bring more people over to the sport.
If that happens it would be the end of MLF
I don’t know. It may be a smart move?
Agreed. They’d get a small bump, but the anti ffs crowd typically aren’t the ones paying entry fees and spending big money on the hobby.
Soon enough they’d complain about offshore fishing, or too many rods, or power poles, spot lock, and on and on.
Why? Because it would go back to requiring experience and skill to tournament fish?
@@chrism2042using electronics doesn't take experience & skill??I'd like to see you yurn on the screen & magically win tournaments..Lmao dude your a clown..lolI
No loss their
I could t agree more! They banned the umbrellas rig or Alabama rig whatever it’s called for what reason? Because it caught too many fish or what? Not sure why a bait can be banned but FFS is ok?
We can only hope that changes are coming down the pipe.
I agree with the FFS I enjoyed the last MLF tournament on Jamer River. Watching Skeet fish “Fish” was enjoyable again for the first time in a long time. Way to go Skeet!!
It was a cool tournament to watch and thanks for tuning in to the channel!
I am all for Outlawing it by the DNR !!!
They should just outlaw flipping instead since I don’t like that
@@devinwillis7787
They have outlawed shocking fish and netting fish and spearing fish, so yes when there is a technology advantage where it’s no longer fair chase it is outlawed !
They have no problems putting limitations on hunting equipment so it would only make sense they do it here.
Well if FFS was banned in Major Tournament Leagues, why couldn't the electronics companies still sponsor and advertise their FFS technology? I would imagine that 99.9% of their target market are NOT Pro Fisherman.
I believe the big tackle retailers would require an "exclusive" type sponsorship. ie if we pay you this amount of sponsorship dollars you can not promote ffs. products. this might still allow electronic companies promoting graphs etc just not ffs tech.
I would like to see a partial ban to start with. Half the tournaments with it and have without it, that way you can see how everyone reacts to it, and you could go all out down the road on whether to keep it or not.
In tournaments it should be band . Then we will see just how good these young men really are
@@jamesbowden1660 I appreciate you tuning into the channel and sharing your thoughts.
Rumors? You got my click and view. But what source did this video come from? "There is a rumor that sponsorship money may come from another organization." You said nothing.
Well hate to bust your bubble folks! My long time connection with Kathy Fennel after getting sick of hearing Randy making false statements about FFS was as far as MLF goes it's not gonna be banned it probably it going to be limited! Say one transducer. You heard it from your Ordinary Angler!
Blaukat's going to go nuts and Milliken will be crying in his boyfriends arms.
Lmfao
Your sadly wrong Milliken can and has done well without FFS. Everyone that's using it are using it because it's available and why wouldn't they use it.
😅😅😅
@@joelangley1462 Sure……..
Hahab that’s funny man!
If prices of everything keep going up the tournament trails are going to fold up regardless
Competitors can get carried away with anything and hopefully BASS is mindful of that.
Sounds great! Thanks for the info Mark!
You bet!
At this point , no one is taking professional bass fishing that seriously anymore . We have much more important things to worry about …
Food, etc, is a necessity. Fishing is not. The economy is driving the direction of the dollar.
Jacob Wheeler and his two amigos will suffer when it's banned.
I’m sure there are a lot of guys that would suffer if it got banned. But to be honest, there are a lot of guys that excel using ffs that have the fishing “chops” to remain successful even without it.
Other issues aside, imo, Wheeler is probably one of those guys.
High hopes we will see the end of ffs in Professional competition. Using the scope demonstrates technical acumen...it does not represent honing one's craft.
Let me ask this…. Where is the extra money coming from? The regular price 7.99 spinnerbait will have to go up so we still lose.
@@xb2003280 I think the idea is that the $ would come from increased volume of sales since the volume of sales on those types of baits has dropped significantly.
@@markfisheroutdoorswould it go back up? I would still spend most of my year with a swimbait, jerk bait, drop shot and Ned rig most of the year anyway
I’m against it but mostly just cause I don’t want to have to spend thousands of $ on it just to be competitive in local tournaments 🤷🏻♂️
thanks for your comments
If that happens all of the ffs guys will have to find another way to get in touch with their feminine side. So sad.
Problem is their biggest names would leave for B.A.S.S.. ie Connell , Wheeler that would hurt greatly. With that said I hope they ban it. Greatly limits the technique variation seen at most tournaments. Basically you go to a river or it’s 90% FFS.
Iam 68 and have bass fished for the last 50 plus years here in middle Tennessee 🍊 and all of our beautiful clear water lakes. Iam a finesse guy and have used 1/16 and 1/8 ounce hair flies and curly tail grubs for all that time as well as traditional bass baits. And I can certainly see where the tackle companies are concerned because you can pour your own jig heads in bulk for a fraction of the cost of buying them. I am beginning to see traditional baits being sold in clearance which is kinda sad. I bet you could ask some of these one hit wonder boys with FFS what a Countdown Rapla is and they wouldn't have a clue 😂 I hope both Tournament organizations return to what Randy calls the Magic of Bassin.🎣
Man I hope so!
What is the difference of trail cameras that send pictures to your phone, custom black power guns 1 inch group at 300 yards everything evolves
Well they do limit technology with hunting. For all the things you listed that they allow there's a list just as long of things they dont. All dependent on your state but there has been plenty of limitations put on advancements in tech for various reasons.
@@PoFolks_Capitalthis isn't hunting. This is fishing. I can't catch every fish I see on a screen, it doesn't happen. I can definitely shoot everything that walks by within range of a gun though. So your comparison isn't close. You're trying to impart a feeding action to a fish you see and hope it reacts opposed to putting a piece of lead through an animal with a scope at 200yrds. I boggles me how people try to compare these two things when it's not even close
@fisherman7275 it also boggles my mind how people pick and choose only the comparisons that fit their agenda. Hunting has harvest limits no diff than fishing.
I’m sure there’s a push from the electronics industry to keep it, and I don’t have ffs, but, Skeet Reese just Won The James River with his Lucky Craft crankbait😮and Drew Gill ( ffs master) used a combo of dropshot and ffs on the Chowan River. Throw in BASS rookie Tyler Williams Top 10’s with a jig, there’s hope across the board for combinations 🤷🏻♂️ it definitely boils down to 💰💰💰💯
Instead of banning ffs. I believe they could solve a lot of this with scheduling. I don’t hate watching ffs tournaments, I just don’t want all of them to be.
Why stop at FFS. Remove all sonar tools and only allow the depth to
Be used. Seems a little absurd to eliminate a tool because most established pros are struggling to use it. What a shame. Learn it or move on
A d they also need gps to navigate that's it
I would love to see it done. Then we could see real fisherman fish and not the video gamers who really can’t fish without it have to learn how to really fish.
The funny part is the sponsorship money is winding down
Ban it
So much crying 😢😢😢😢 from those that cant use it or dont understand it. And I can't take anything from anyone who's wearing a MLF fishing hat. #FBD

It should be banned everywhere period! It's no different than spotlighting deer! Ban it, save our lakes! Thomas, Mississippi!!
I like to bass fish but I generally find it boring to watch no matter what they are doing. The cameras always seem to be in the wrong boats. Is viewership down or does Blaucet have the people apposed to it more vocal. I remember Mercer saying on his podcast awhile back that viewership was up, I know he works for BASS but I'm sure you can look up numbers
Explain how tackle companies are losing big time money can afford to up their ante to tournament organizations? Also tired of hearing that using FFS you are unskilled. Catching suspended fish in deep water is not easy.
If I own a company that made 6k less than it did last year ( but I still made 4k). This year if I invest 1k in eliminating the thing that cost me last year….
That’s a good investment.
@danhaire9567 turn your cheater box off...see if you can still do it. I can
@beavisbrowne3497 I don't fish tournaments so I could care less about what happens in them. Unless you fish BPT the Elites or the Opens it shouldn't matter what they do. If you don't enjoy watching the broadcasts don't watch them.
@@markfisheroutdoors The price of everything has gone up with this economy. People are buying less or of less quality to fit their needs. Same as in the fishing industry. Fishing is a luxury to most people, not a necessity. With 75% of families living paycheck to paycheck, until the economy changes, the fishing industry will take a bigger hit.
FFS should be Outlawed Nation Wide... Period 🧐
FFS is a cool tool to have if you have the money for it BUT it definitely should be BANNED for tournament use!!
Ban it. Bring back the skill of bass fishing.
@saltrock9642 but if it doesn't take any skill, why are only a few good at it? Why do some struggle with it? I mean if it doesn't take any skill everyone would be catching them right? Or if you have that much skill wouldn't you excel at using ffs? Or is it that it actually takes skill to use it and how that technique works? 🤔

FFS IS ABSOLUTELY CHEATING! Go back to old school fishing and MLF and BASS will make their greed up in the long run! Payback to these anglers is horse💩!!!!!!!
Ban FFS , it’s cheating and should not be allowed in any tournament or any recreational bass fisherman
Banning ffs would be incredibly short sighted. It’s been established too long, you go to a regional tournament now and 95% of guys have ffs. The backbone of the sport is the active tournament angler, not those that whine in comment sections.
I fish tournaments as well but to say that tournament anglers are the backbone of the sport is wild, there are far more people who fish that don't fish tournaments or watch them or give a rats butt about them, tournament anglers are a small group and many non competing fisherman have ffs
95% have it because they have no choice, that's their only option to compete with spotlighting being allowed.
Tournament anglers are the "backbone" of the sport? How long would companies stay in business if all recreational fishermen stopped buying boats, electronics and fishing gear? Exactly. I bass fished for many years before I started saltwater fishing. For years I had new bass boats and a garage full of tackle and gear. Been buying and upgrading bay boats every 2-3 years since 2006. Now have a 24' bay boat being rigged that cost 50% more than a new bass boat, a garage full of gear and tackle for inshore, near shore fishing and trolling. Never fished a tournament in my life, means no sponsors for anything. I spend a ton of money year after year just to enjoy fishing, catch and release.
@@chrisbeaves873 Maybe backbone is a strong word, but they are definitely the subset of fisherman that spend the most money. Not to mention paying the entry fees for the grassroots levels of the sport
The back bone of the sport sure not the tourney fisherman.its the weekend anglers.the tackle industry spends all their money on sponsorship for the the pros so we end up paying for it when we by baits, rods, reels and $100000 bass boats.because of all the free stuff
They dont spend money.all their fishing stuff is gave to them.including truck and gas
