    Why build? The barrel is $411, receiver $576 add the cost of the trigger, bolt and mag release and stock and you’ve exceeded the cost to buy one already built. There are a number of them on Gunbroker for $1100 to $1200. I’m getting ready to buy one. Am I missing something?

      I was not in a hurry when I purchased the parts so I waited and purchased them from different websites whenever I found a good price for what I wanted. Otherwise it is better to just buy it complete.

      @@HeartbeatsOutdoors I see you also have an m&p 15-22...so with experience on both platforms, if you had to choose one 22 rifle would you go with an AR-style 22 or a 10-22? By the way, is that Tac-Sol receiver/barrel combo picky with ammo or does it eat everything?

    • @HeartbeatsOutdoors
      @HeartbeatsOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Yurkevich22 well I haven't noticed any major issues with any of the ammo I have used with either gun. Obviously sometimes you get a bad round because 22lr(especially in bulk) can be less reliable but I have had some issues with "quiet" ammo through the 15-22 because often it doesn't have enough energy to cycle the next round. I have not shot it through the tacsol so I can't say and overall I have not shot my tacsol as much yet but I can say that overall they are both excellent 22 rifles and it depends on what your looking for. If you are willing to spend the money and you want the ultimate lightweight survival 22 rifle than I would choose the tacsol. If you want something to train the AR platform and you want to put all kinds of attachments than the M&P 15-22 is the way to go. I can say after having the 15-22 for much longer I really enjoy it and trust it (as much as you can trust a 22lr). I will eventually make another video on my tacsol after I have put many more rounds through it.

    • @HeartbeatsOutdoors
      @HeartbeatsOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      honestly guys I don't remember exactly how much each part cost, I remember I spent a lot of time searching online to try and get the best deal on each part so I purchased from different websites but it was still pretty expensive in the end. I think I ended up saving around 125.00 than if I would have purchased this gun complete. but at the time I also was not able to find a complete model with the OD green barrel and black stock so that was another reason to build it myself from parts. so at least I saved a bit haha

  • @iPsychlops
    @iPsychlops 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I got the TS X-ring and in general I love it. One thing that's been a bit frustrating is the point of impact shifts as the barrel changes temperature. In one magazine at 200 yards I'm getting over 1.5 mils elevation gain. It makes it hard to effectively hit a series of targets. Have your experienced this? I'm using 40gr CCI mini mags. It also doesn't seem to hold 1moa but I might need to clean it and then foul the barrel and see how it does. I do love pretty much everything about it though. Thanks for the video! Not enough about this great little survival gun.

    • @HeartbeatsOutdoors
      @HeartbeatsOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not really tried to shoot at any long distance with this yet. I'm not positive but I think anytime you have a takedown model like this you may be sacrificing some long distance consistency for the compact capabilities. Thank you so much for watching.

    • @iPsychlops
      @iPsychlops 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you get a chance to take it out longer distance, let me know! From what I've heard, shooting 200yds with .22lr is fairly comparable to shooting 600 with .308.

    • @HeartbeatsOutdoors
      @HeartbeatsOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      well I didn't end up saving as much as I would have hoped but I recall saving around $165.00. this may not sound like a lot when you see the price of the tacsol but it's still something. its just a matter of buying the parts from different websites. whoever has the cheapest price at the time for each part

  • @JoEYHiiGHRoLLER
    @JoEYHiiGHRoLLER 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You have to get the x ring receiver to see the iron sights on the x ring barrel? Wtf? So should I just get the normal barrel and use an optic and say screw irons? Even though I want irons or keep the ones on the barrel

    • @HeartbeatsOutdoors
      @HeartbeatsOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah to see their iron sights you need their receiver. So you could still get that barrel and just not use the irons or just get a classic Ruger and upgrade few parts. Guess it depends on how much you wanna spend. If you just want the best than you could just get a complete TacSol Rifle. Thanks for watching

      I'm no expert but I have been using a vortex crossfire 2 scope on mine, and haven't seen any problems in about 2 years. Zeroed it at 125yds and it's kept about the same accuracy as far as I can tell. I even dropped it a couple of times. I DO know some people have complained about having to re-zero it but I have to start to suspect it's either user error or some kind of "FUD" about takedown guns.

    I am still undecided whether to buy an m&p 15-22 or to assemble a Ruger like this.

      Well I can only speak from experience amd I have not had any problems with my 15-22. The 10-22 is also reliable but I have had some issues with the larger magazines so I try to stick with the 10 rounders. I will say that buying a 15-22 is most likely cheaper than building a 10-22 especially like the 10-22 in this video. I guess it's up to you but I like both haha
