Very cool Shit. I've been looking into the Beastgrip Pro Series Anamorphic lens with a goal to mod it with step rings for DSLR use. The Beastgrip Anamorphic also has a 37mm thread. This gives me more confidence that I could make it work.
Thank you. Beast grip have their own anamorphic adapter which is thinner I think but the moondog labs one does also fit. If you have that stuff please make a video. I would love to see
@@Lvisionmedia You're welcome, you've earned a subscriber here. Yeah the Beastgrip Pro Series is the one I'm very interested in trying out with my lenses. I figure since you've demonstrated the Moondog Labs adapter can work on a M43 crop it should essentially be the same for the Beastgrip having a 37mm thread but with the benefits of it being thinner, round and having a outer filter thread. I'll keep you updated with whatever I test. Here's another example I found of the Moondog on a GH5 you might be interested in. th-cam.com/video/wxUV7bwAIkk/w-d-xo.html
@@_miros I have not yet, I'm still considering trying it out and crossing my fingers it works. It's a $230 gamble since it would be difficult to return or sell without owing the cage it was attended for. I have two primary lenses both having 49mm front filter threads but much smaller front glass elements. My hope to use a 49mm to 37mm stepdown ring to mount the Beastgrip adapter to the lens.
Ah I wish you showed video clips of it! I wanted to pick one up and experiment with music videos or short films. I have the Panasonic 45 f1.7 which has a 37mm filter thread that’s why I’m curious! Thanks for putting this up brother.
rr narratives i did a episode before where I shot with the GH5. This one exists because a lot of people asked me if they can use it with older panasonics. I used this adapter on one project now. th-cam.com/video/VXT6ZUlIVkI/w-d-xo.html Here are a view scenes with forced flares. You will see which ones I mean.
rr narratives there's also the anamorphic lense by "Moment" that's coming out this summer. Is for mobile phones however and I don't know that there's an adapter for cameras
yes I know but it looks like that you cannot adapt it to camera lenses 😕 that is sad because I think the moment has a better quality. I wished one of them would produce a 2x anamorphot that you can use on camera lenses.
@@MechanicsDIY you have to check out my video with the GH5. But I used the full HD resolution of that cam which has a slight crop compared to 4k. In full HD you can use the 14-52mm from around 24mm.
The focus situation is quite difficult. You can not get a really sharp image. This adapter is made for smartphones in paired with a phone the quality is nice. Moondolabs just releases a front element for the Sony rx0 series where you can attach this 37mm adapter. I think that's gonna work well. I will come up with a video about using this adapter on an eos m. But don't expect anything groundbreaking.
I'm wondering if there is any way to use this adapter with an ef mount lens. I've seen people use it with a micro 4/3, but I have a t3i and and a few ef mount lenses.
A Don of Ice and Fire The only chance is to get an ef lense with the smallest front glass element and a stepdown ring. The lense must be a 40mm or more I guess. As there are 3 or 4 lenses for micro four thirds out there that have a 37mm thread it is the easiest way. If you are going to find that out please let me here your experiences please.
A Don of Ice and Fire would love to here if that’s gonna work. I had a job yesterday where I used it with the GH5 and it was a lot of fun. Lot of flares and a nice look
What did you do to increase the image sharpness? I have been taken stills of models and found that 99% are blurred. What f stop did you find the most effective. I'm thinking anything higher than f16 is best. Even at close distances it's hard to get it focused. Here is an example of a still I took with it: flic.kr/p/2hQ3eqv
Do you think my images are sharp? It is definitely wety tough to get a professional sharp image out of this solution. I've bought an slr magic compact anamorphot which is much better for professional shooting. I used different f stops. From 4 to 22 I guess. The more you stop down the better your image becomes. Maybe you'll check out the new sirui anamorphic lens. They say that even wide open this lens performs well
@@Lvisionmedia they are $700, it might be a good addition depending on the focal length when shooting with a m43 camera. 45mm(90mm) is really pushing it. I'm going to continue to play around with it for a bit. It really isn't anything different than adding a tiny filter in the lens elements... I think it's the way the front element is curved. From what I can tell there seems to be a sweet spot for sharpness.
@@CodHumors the compact anamorphot is quiet good. I've heard you can use it with the sigma art 19mm mft lens but I haven't tried it by myself. I good mine for 400 $ from adorama via eBay.
@@CodHumors oh via indiegogo. Now you have to wait till February. That's hard. I was also thinking about getting one but to choose a mount is difficult.

the moment i heard camera shit im subscribing. i hope its great
Shotz Media thx a lot. I have two new videos in the making. If you are interested in GH5 gear...
why is anamorphic desirable? Don't most of us dislike the black bar letterboxing it creates?
I don't know. I like it very much. I just bought an slr magic anamorphot and will produce a couple more videos for this channel

I wouldn't suggest going below 25mm. The image comes out too dark with anything below that.
