@@AaronGman problems may be there with the fuel system, get the injectors checked. Check service records. You might also be considering buying new tyres if it's on the stock set of tyres for more than five years.
Youre 100% right about the "cant replace everything" my 08 cbr600rr just went through the insurance claim process after being hit in a parking lot- while it was parked. An estimated $5300+ of damage from the accident to get it back to new stock as it was. I had bought it at 4000 miles and put 20k on it. Insurance of course considered it a total loss and gave me a fair payout for it. More than i gave 5 years ago honestly. Now im looking for my 08 cbr1000rr xD
As someone who didn't look at most of these things when buying a bike, this is very helpful. A lot of times, the rush of the sale or excitement can make you overlook small things, or not think to look at things. At least 2 of the bikes I bought had been down at some point, but I never would have known at the spot because I didn't doba full check of these things. That said, both of those bikes gave me many years of good service and many thousands of miles of fun and I didn't regret either of the deals I got on them. One, my first bike, a 2006 GSX-R 600. Put 25k on with not a single issue the entire time. Paid only $4,700 in 2010. Had a repainted side cover. Never leaked, never not started, never skipped a beat ever. Daily to school and back. Second was an 04 R1. Was repainted a custom color, but only realized why when I removed some CF tape on the turn signal housing and saw scratches. 8 years later, still have it ,starts and runs perfect every time. Only things I've ever replaced other than general maintenance was a fuel pump relay and a starter solenoid. Still runs like a top, still fast AF. As long as you know how to care for the bikes you buy, even buying something that's been down isn't necessarily an awful decision, but definitely be informed. Being more diligent in the buying process maybe would have saved me a few hundred bucks over 13 years, but both bikes are some of the best I've ever owned mechanically. As always, buyer beware.
I just recently bought a used sport bike. I frankly do not know how the guy rode it. Did not pay a lot for it. But I definitely learned my lesson under fire. Great video!!!
One way could be to offer like half of what they're asking for it (after going there and talking and trying, not straight over the phone) and just watch their response. :)
If you see a dead body on the motorcycle you know what's going on now I'm not saying it's a deal breaker but you might wanna take that into consideration 😂
Oldest comment I know, but for cruiser and touring bikes there's also a high(er) chance that they'll roll back the mileage, so hopefully the service manual will have exact dates and total mileage registered for each service (and it's not forged, because people also do that, blah). *so, like, the clutch is important - it may feel "tight", however they tweak it, but it may roll you around for like another 100 miles before it needs replacing and that's expensive AF. xD

Here's a tip: if you have a good (great!) mechanic, who also happens to be your mechanic, don't trust that he'll be able to suppress his own greed when evaluating the bike. I hadn't been around, dad took him and then right after the purchase there were several things that needed doing. His bread and butter. Cases in point look hard I bought a bike with a blown engine and swapped it out but buying a 5000 bike and buying another 2500 bike to fix it sucked

Don't be afraid to ask the seller to do do stuff like open the gas tank, take the seat off and even maybe demonstrate things. It's not your bike so you don't have to be familiar with how to do stuff on it. The seller should be happy to do stuff like this and should know his own bike well.
Great informative video. But man, get rid of the chewing gum! (Or whatever is causing that slobbering lip slapping noise) Camera guy, sort out your lighting.
Check the chain and sprocket if the chain is all rusty gonna have to go ahead and change that and the sprockets too. Also check for missing bolts and rusty bolts so you can get an idea pf the history. None of that is a deal breaker but make sure it is priced right. Its nice to buy a absolite cherry used bike but sometimes if the price is right and your not scared to get your hands dirty a few issues so long as its not frame or motor or trans issues can get you a hell of a deal
Also a quick glance at the brake fluid colour can give you an indication of the care given to the maintenance of a bike. When it is Coca Cola brown! 😬😂
Plus, what shape the radiator is in. If there is ANY rust (even the smallest traces) anywhere visible on the cooling components, it could possibly mean that sometime distilled water hadn't been used and that can mean a number of things (like, replacing of -small- parts if lucky). He hasn't covered too much here, like checking the clutch, drive train and final drive - in detail - right... Compression of the engine and cylinders should always be measured, spark plugs removed and more. Even the clutch and other cables can (always?!) be replaced when buying a used bike. I've had a clutch cable snap on me, on a rental, going downhill in third, LOL (and no quick shift there :))
(PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7) "BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING". Not even the vehicle purchase amen. It's a good start knowing what to look for upon approaching the bike so start looking from the ground up such as: tires, rims, brake rotor wear, fork tube seals, lower and upper engine leaks, chain and belt drive, oil, coolant levels and signs of burnt when they neglected change intervals, road rash lower forks, lower swing arm, lower frame and engine bolts on pegs, lower tip over bars, handlebars, grips and levers, mirrors damage, properly functioning switches, turn signals, fenders and tank seems to be the best path then fluids, suspicious wiring, low battery voltage will be connected to charging system failure, CHECK EVERYTHING. TAKE A SECOND OR THIRD TO LOOK THE OVER TO COVER THE ENTIRE BIKE.
Also! If it’s a high mileage bike but really maintained well; It’s a good buy rather than a low mile bike that the owner might had neglected it and have not often oil changed.
1Smoking Lizard no I didn’t because the bike had a lot of problems and he lied about the bike being laid down. This was a good informative video that I didn’t know what to look at. Just to name a few: seals were bad, laid down because of the scratches and no left peg, chain had rust, tires were bad, etc... The only reason why I went looked at it was because of the low miles for a 06 (2234 miles).
@@donaldprevost8826 Good job on your part. Scammers and dishonest people should be shamed! Glad you didn't buy that "junk". Keep searching and you'll find the perfect match. I had a buddy tell me also don't buy a bike that has aftermarket engine mods, pipe, full exhaust, etc. He just told me to watch out if the bike had been ridden hard don't buy it. ECU upgrades, whatever. Just saying, in the end it's up to you.
Incorrect bro, maybe he was saying that because technically the bike being aftermarket decreases it value. With the stock bikes, you’ll get more money from a “dealership.” Selling private, we’ll definitely give you more for those aftermarket parts. Just depends..
Bought my first bike without a proper test ride or full inspection (just quick look-over) *Don't do that* Now that I bought a ZX-6R I did the whole charade, inspect it, start it cold, let it heat up, ride for 25-30 minutes, let it sit some more and jump on it again I found out the rear tire & brakes need replacing and the headlight switch didn't work, we agreed on a price and that he'd fix the headlights (they're custom angel eyes) before I'd pick it up and pay It gives you great wiggle room for bargaining, I ended up dropping the price from € 3800 to € 3500 + new headlights & a brake service he'd pay for (the invoice has been shown and I test rode it, it's an big difference) Papers have been signed and I'm picking her up tomorrow, don't rush it! You are trusting your life to one of these machines, make sure they're at least fully functional
Check the rear swing arm for movement left to right the bearings can be worn check the front steering stem bearings lock the front brake withe the bike shut off push the bike forward and backward feel for play.wiggle the rims to check the wheel bearings for movement.

What a fantastic video man. Much appreciated it. Gave me things to think about that i would've never thought of. If you already have that video made I'd love a link to it please. 👍👍👍
Just took a look at a 92 Yamaha Fzr1000. Needed battery, clutch needed adjustment. Plastic broken. So tempting for 800$. Learn to walk away and you’ll feel a lot better than having to fix these things yourself.
I think his point was u can quickly tell u if aftermarket plastics, paint ect. Not that there's anything wrong with it but he mentions it to be questioning if the bike was in an accident.
I'm still missing more advanced pro tips.. Like when you buy from the owner, or when you buy from a dealer, faulty things depend of brands; electronics which fault the most or suspensions brands, or common mechanical problems depends of the manufacturer... more advanced.. The video to me feels like what any buyer with a bit of knowledge and common sense would look out.
Pay really close attention to the heads of bolts and fasteners for tool marks. Bring a bright flashlight with you for this purpose and possibly a small magnifying glass especially if your eyesight isn't perfect like mine. You can tell what was removed vs what wasnt removed. If the case has ever been split or if only the clutch cover has been off ect...
I'm a newb to road bikes, but not a newb with safety wire. You might want to redo that job on your front brake. It's way too loose. Other than that, This helped me tremendously, thank you for the detailed video! I'll watch this a few more times before I buy this summer (hopefully).

Most informative video I seen yet, thumbs up!!!
(PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7)
"BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING".
As new a rider I learn something new every time i watch one of your videos. Us newb appreciate the info. Keep up the great work
You are totally correct! I have an 07 M109R that had a power commander. the engine didn't run right so I took it off and I haven't had a problem since
Bruh I gotta take a second look, thought dan bilzerian review bikes now
Also! If it’s a high mileage bike but really maintained well; It’s a good buy rather than a low mile bike that the owner might had neglected it and have not often oil changed.
Man You are Doing a good Job By Giving these tips
👍 GREAT TIPS BRO, KEEP ON MAKING NEW VIDEOS. YOU STYLE IS GREAT
This was actually very informative. Thanks👍
Love that "grandma" style couch there LOL
4:20 "Another thing, was the bike dropped? This is a big deal"
7:40 "Not that having a bike being dropped is a big deal.."
wat
Didnt know that about the 05 06 suk frame 👍👍
great video dude! can you do a similar one but with cruisers if you haven't already? that would be great help to me.
I’m glad I had this video in my feeds. About to go look at a 06 hayabusa this Saturday.
Did you buy yet? Let me know
1Smoking Lizard no I didn’t because the bike had a lot of problems and he lied about the bike being laid down.
I entertained the idea back in the day about getting a '11 Busa but just find it hard to part away with my '96 VFR750F. Cheers
1Smoking Lizard appreciate it. Just keep it and get a BUSA
This video was exactly what I needed thank you
Great video man. I do enjoy all of the videos in this channel. Keep it up!
Really good tips..keep it up my bro..blessed
Great information on this video. Great Job!!
And of couse Rockin that jacket!!!
Norcal Dynarider great jacket
I saw I lot bikes to buy based on this tips. You just saved to get big headaches. Thank you
This video is actually nice to watch before you head out to buy.
Sean by far your best video. Thanks man
I had a buddy tell me also don't buy a bike that has aftermarket engine mods, pipe, full exhaust, etc. He just told me to watch out if the bike had been ridden hard don't buy it. ECU upgrades, whatever. Just saying, in the end it's up to you.
Your buddy don't know what he is talking about.
Incorrect bro, maybe he was saying that because technically the bike being aftermarket decreases it value. With the stock bikes, you’ll get more money from a “dealership.” Selling private, we’ll definitely give you more for those aftermarket parts. Just depends..
Thanks for the video man, appreciated! I would definately use this when purchasing my bike!
Bought my first bike without a proper test ride or full inspection (just quick look-over)
*Don't do that*
Now that I bought a ZX-6R I did the whole charade, inspect it, start it cold, let it heat up, ride for 25-30 minutes, let it sit some more and jump on it again
I found out the rear tire & brakes need replacing and the headlight switch didn't work, we agreed on a price and that he'd fix the headlights (they're custom angel eyes) before I'd pick it up and pay
It gives you great wiggle room for bargaining, I ended up dropping the price from € 3800 to € 3500 + new headlights & a brake service he'd pay for (the invoice has been shown and I test rode it, it's an big difference)
Papers have been signed and I'm picking her up tomorrow, don't rush it! You are trusting your life to one of these machines, make sure they're at least fully functional
Thanks for the information. I'm still looking for a good used bike in L.A.
I didn't check very well on a bike that I bought recently but I got lucky that it wasn't too messed up. 06 gixxer with only 5k miles for 4500 hundred.
Check the rear swing arm for movement left to right the bearings can be worn check the front steering stem bearings lock the front brake withe the bike shut off push the bike forward and backward feel for play.wiggle the rims to check the wheel bearings for movement.
This was really informative, thanks man :)
Really good explanation n helped out a lot, but you DEFINITELY need a new camera men...
Scratches on the swing arm and the front forks could be paddock stands not low sides or crashes.
this was veeery helpful.thanks
Niaje
Someone PLEASE tell him to stop lip smacking when he starts a sentence.
Sounded like he was eating a warhead
While you focus on “ smacking lips”. The rest of us are concentrating on the great videos and knowledge he is helping us with
Thanks for the time and videos ✌️❤️
LARRY FISHKIND wow 😮 emotional aren’t you
@@larryfishkind5387 how can you concentrate on the video when all you hear is that damn lip smacking?
He does it in every video and I hear it every single time
What a fantastic video man. Much appreciated it. Gave me things to think about that i would've never thought of. I do have a question maybe you can do a "example video from star to finish on the process of buying a bike from craigslist and selling it to a dealer.
If you already have that video made I'd love a link to it please.
👍👍👍
Glad you mentioned bike being dropped isn't a big deal because most of the time it's just scratches or a slightly bent foot lever
Just took a look at a 92 Yamaha Fzr1000. Needed battery, clutch needed adjustment. Plastic broken. So tempting for 800$. Learn to walk away and you’ll feel a lot better than having to fix these things yourself.
Ah, its white because they dont make them in white and I wanted a white CBR, so I painted it white.
I think his point was u can quickly tell u if aftermarket plastics, paint ect. Not that there's anything wrong with it but he mentions it to be questioning if the bike was in an accident.
This video will never get old
Thought this was a very informative video for buying a first bike as myself.
Really good tips man. Thumb's up video!~John
Great things to check is rust on body and inside the gas tank. Check oil and make sure it's not over filled and clean
Thanks!!! Appreciate you putting out this video
This channel has helped me so much
You need more views one of my favourite bike Channels
No one is truthful when selling a bike, except for me of course. Yeah sure.
lol yeah, i dont trust him also. atleast he gave us some tools to use against him
I am writing from Bulgaria ( Eroupe ) and here we fix almost everithing as frame , bent wheels , bent forks also !
Does anyone else hear the cottonmouth 🤣💯
I didn’t know their was so much to look for thanks man
I love you guys! Great content
Excellent and very informative video, thank you!
Chain and sprocket are as important and as informative as tires and fork seals.
Great information! Thanks man!
Great video awesome tips thx alot👍🏼🎉👍🏼🎉
Thanks for tips, you talked me into buying a new one. And I guess that Vespa rider was just using it for liquor store runs....Haaaaaaa

I always smell the oil, if it smells burnt run away and it won't matter if you change the oil, the smell will always be there unless motor is torn down and cleaned.
