Its funny that Mile's first pursuit theme(lying coldly) is more energetic and playful in a way than Phoenix's considering Edgeworth's more serious demeanour, but it still suits him so well!
Maybe Edgeworth got inspired by Wright in regards to how he feels during pursuing a criminal, hence the theme representing more playfulness than expected.
Something I don't hear anybody talk about is that at the beginning of Lying Coldly, you can hear a bit of the OG "anticipation" track from AA1; proving that this is canonically what plays in Edgeworth's head whenever Phoenix seems stuck.
I really love and appreciate how you put the variations of each theme after one loop of the original, so although it's two loops in total, they sound different. Thank you for this video!
@@mirumiruyokouwuowo7068 There's the normal version, which starts normally, and a variation which starts in medias res. For example: 18:00 is the normal version of Pursuit 2011, while the variation plays at 20:23.
It was usually played during the scenes where Naruhodou had to kind of rethink the case scenario similar to the ability introduced in Dual Destinies that they all have
Honestly, I feel that “Questioned” is a VERY underrated Pursuit theme. You should hear the orchestrated version, it is AMAZING. It was even used in the Let’s Dub Project’s fan dub of Dual Destinies during Turnabout Reclaimed.
So amazing it starts strong, it grows even stronger and builds hype in an instant A climax music is good when you instantly recognize it once it starts and you don’t want it to end soon. Extra point because it has shifts and changes so it’s not repetitive like other themes. And of course the beats are just in tone with the sound of the text (of Phoenix talking). An absolute masterpiece, every musician who works on a game should strive for reaching that level. So good start I think many of the following themes are just bland in comparison and I would’ve rather have a different mix of cornered or even the original in place of them. They are not bad but I think the first pursuit is that outstanding.
I honestly think if the score in the first game hadn't been such a masterpiece we never would have had any of the rest of the games in the franchise to compare to the original
I just finished the first trilogy on my 3ds a few days ago. The pursuit cornered playing on the climax of trials and tribulations gave me goosebumps when I heard it

I mean its supposed to be the theme that is specifically made for the game lmao 😂😂 did you not play ace attorney? Pheonix is always about to lose the case when that theme plays
Don't get me wrong, Apollo's Overtaken is an absolute bop. But Dual Destinies' Keep Pressing On is an underrated masterpiece. The sound of the trumpets and violins mixing with the beat is just beautiful. Also that killer guitar solo is what tops it off.
It's hard to pick a favorite. Apollo Justice's pursuit has such a texture in it's instrumentation that is absolutely delicious to my ears, but Wanting to Find the Truth literally always gets me moving and hyped whenever I hear it in the game or on its own. Its rhythm speaks to my soul.
I cannot but appreciate you putting Overture to Pursuit before Great Pursuit. I thank you. I honestly feel that the two Pursuit themes of the Dai games aren't complete without that build up song to them.
I swear overture to pursuit is supposed to be before the case turnabout, not great pursuit. Either the name is off, or the songs are mixed up. The song played at the end doesn't fit with the prelude song, and I remember it being played at different times. It's more of a cornered theme. I swear my memory isn't playing tricks on me - listen for yourself and you'll see that the two songs don't fit as well with each other as no.14 does with no.11
@@dgcfgvvgb6555 overture does normally play before the case turnabout but it's ordered by the year they released and overture is only in the great ace attorney 2 not 1.
I know I'm a year late but I honestly feel that The Great Turnabout is one of if not the best pursuit themes, the energy composition is perfect, the theme exudes confidence, elegance and almost a little of desperation. It's uncertain yet stong and continuous. Which on itself Its the main pattern of Ryunosuke's personality as most of his themes are laced with this angsty yet solemn and strong sounding songs, almost as if representing his whole issue with kazuma and how he actively deals with it during his stay in the UK. I also love the incorporation of wind instruments and some percussion that gives a tiny oriental touch to the song!
Keep Pressing On is such a banger! That moment where all 3 Ace Attorneys point at the main villian while this theme plays....just goosebumps. One of my favourite tracks from the entire series.
The first pursuit theme is so awesome and iconic and will probably always be my favorite, but the energy is honestly too high for how arguments in court are actually made. Honestly, Caught at 6:00 has energy that's much more similar to what courtrooms feel like when a significant argument is made that halts the prosecution's case completely. And the name is so fitting for when it happens. They literally are caught on a detail they didn't pick up on and that halts the case completely, and you gotta pay respects to the song for that
I gotta say that's a really good argument for how it feels, but to add to what has already been said, as a storytelling device, this theme has both parties on the melody fighting for control, Godot's prosecution with the woods and bell and Phoenix's defense with the the drums and chimes melody. Both sides finding the truth but ultimately against each other.
I just finished the original trilogy for the first time on my switch, and when Cornered began to play as the final trial was nearing its ending, I got goosebumps. Like, T&Ts pursuit theme rocks to all hell, but cornered popping up as the final mystery of these 3 games was finally being solved and showing how Phoenix grew not only as a lawyer but as a person. It was what cracked me and made me begin to laugh in sadness.
there is almost nothing that lives up to the feeling of finally figuring out that one detail, presenting correctly, and hearing the pursuit theme intro
When the pursuit theme stops and you need to present evidence and then you do just for the pursuit theme to come back hitting harder then ever is just so good
Why did the franchise have such a localization issue anyway? The first 3 games sold well overseas so the franchise should have been permanently made globalized.
Pursuit ~ Cornered 2004 should be phoenix and mia pointing together tho, but i understand because theres no official art about it. And glad to have you back man 👍
I like how Professor Layton's Pursuit perfectly captures the vibe of the professor interpreted as a pursuit theme, despite the two games' slightly clashing tones
What I've realized after watching this video is that by the time of Investigations, they finally realized what it was that made the original Pursuit -- Cornered theme so darn effective and awesome (I once likened it to feeling like "riding on a wave of pure awesomeness"), and incorporated that epic, grandiose feel into nearly every Pursuit theme afterward. Listening to the ones for the second through fourth games now, they sound great on their own, but imo in the context of the games they just kind of felt like the kind of piece that builds up to the climax, rather than the climax itself
Maybe that's because Overtaken never plays when confronting the main villain, so that emotional resonance that all the other Pursuit themes have isn't present.
@@JakeAndKyra Disappointed when a remade version of Overtaken didn't play when Apollo cornered Ga'ran. That was Apollo's moment to shine, yet Capcom missed it.

Lying coldly is by far the best theme, but to be honest I find lying coldly a more appropriate "OBJECTION" theme for Edgeworth than his proper objection
The OG 0:00 always got a special place in my heart. A rookie lawyer putting the big names on the spot for the crimes they covered up, and ending prosecutors win streaks.
Yeah, that game had incredible soundtrack. The partners theme might just be my favorite piece of soundtrack out of the whole series, maybe even all games as a whole. The pursuit theme is really good as well, it really gives you this sense of triumph over your enemy, when you finally manage to break their testimony apart and find the final incriminating contradiction.
This one feeling after solving the twist and confronting the real culrpit with your evidence and a pursuit theme starts to play...It feels so god damn victorious. There is literally no other franchise which creates this feeling. Change my mind.
Questioned always gives me that satisfying feeling which Franziska’s seemingly perfect judgement of things is beginning to crack, then she starts to lose it.

Because it is. The theme was first played when Ryunnosuke finally started to close in on the truth during one long ass and complicated case.
It really fits well with the main pursuit theme, and gives it an amazing buildup since you know it's coming.

Honestly, I feel that “Questioned” is a VERY underrated Pursuit theme. You should hear the orchestrated version, it is AMAZING. It was even used in the Let’s Dub Project’s fan dub of Dual Destinies during Turnabout Reclaimed.
I actually consider it the best of the trilogy. Yes, even cornered. I don't like cornered that much tbh, it's good but it gets old for me.
Am I wrong when I say it sounds like it could be in an adventure kind of game?
@@legendarylikebot8465 agreed, its the best of the trilogy for me, cornered is actually near the bottom of my list, I dont get the hype for it at all
Trep actually my opinion changed slightly now I think cornered and questioned are around the same actually cornered may be better.
Agreed.
Pursuit-cornered will always remain the best one at least to me, it's so thrilling and iconic
So amazing it starts strong, it grows even stronger and builds hype in an instant
A climax music is good when you instantly recognize it once it starts and you don’t want it to end soon.
I honestly think if the score in the first game hadn't been such a masterpiece we never would have had any of the rest of the games in the franchise to compare to the original
the variation makes it so much better

@@shitpostmania6061Fr its a banger ! 🔥
I know right? I feel Dual Destinies' pursuit sounds so confident and convincing and have this overwhelming feeling of "gotcha now bitch"
Yup
It's hard to pick a favorite. Apollo Justice's pursuit has such a texture in it's instrumentation that is absolutely delicious to my ears, but Wanting to Find the Truth literally always gets me moving and hyped whenever I hear it in the game or on its own. Its rhythm speaks to my soul.
Me too. I’m torn between Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and both Miles Edgewood themes
Casting Magic is one of the best Layton should be gratefull to have another masterpiece in his name
Fr
Yeah - I'm probably in the minority who thinks Keep Pressing On is the top banger. Or at least in Top 3.
ME!!! TOO!!!! KEEP PRESSING ON PUMPS ME UP SO MUCH
Let's go! , Now we are 4.
i'm a fifth then
I guess I’m the sixth
The little explosion effect on Godot's face in Cornered 2004 its such a good yet small detail to add
Lying coldly hits harder than the other ones the vibes feel different
Makes sense because it’s from the prosecution point of view instead of defense
@@turtlefalcon5546 more aggressive and trying to get the verdict than the logic and reasoning of the defence, makes sense yeah
Absolutely love Apollo's and The Great Turnabout. The hype of AAI's is also awesome
there is almost nothing that lives up to the feeling of finally figuring out that one detail, presenting correctly, and hearing the pursuit theme intro
Or that one piece of evidence makes everything click and you answer every. Single. Question. correctly first try
That pause in the music that tells you you're right
When the pursuit theme stops and you need to present evidence and then you do just for the pursuit theme to come back hitting harder then ever is just so good

Pursuit ~ Casting Magic is one of the single best pieces of music ever put to sound.
he´s back, and better than ever
What I've realized after watching this video is that by the time of Investigations, they finally realized what it was that made the original Pursuit -- Cornered theme so darn effective and awesome (I once likened it to feeling like "riding on a wave of pure awesomeness"), and incorporated that epic, grandiose feel into nearly every Pursuit theme afterward. Listening to the ones for the second through fourth games now, they sound great on their own, but imo in the context of the games they just kind of felt like the kind of piece that builds up to the climax, rather than the climax itself
The first games OST is seriously underrated. Everytime I go back to it, it invokes a very special feeling.
I didn't remember Overtaken was THIS good, maybe I should replay Apollo Justice
Maybe that's because Overtaken never plays when confronting the main villain, so that emotional resonance that all the other Pursuit themes have isn't present.
