    I like your videos... you don't spend a half hour analyzing the box andparts trees... you actually build the kit!

    This is actually quite relaxing. Well done. And I'm glad to see the tank with my name on it being made into models.

    You know, this video made me come to a realization that I hadn't thought of before, and thats that QDC's vids always manage to remind me that you don't need to buy a ton of aftermarket products to make a kit look beautiful! His builds just have that kinda home-made feel, while also looking absolutely stunningly well built! Best model kit TH-camr I've seen because of this very reason!

      Thanks. I guess that's my hallmark. :) I sometimes think that building model kits are over commercialized. There are so many accessories for model kits that people loose the joy of building things straight out of the box. I never gotten into having a lot of accessories per se. Don't get me wrong. I think some of the accessories out in the market are good but I use them to enhance my creativity. Take care :)

      Within reason depending on kit and what stage of modeling you are now at i suppose! Came out nice enough for an old Tamyia kit I just never like the saws on them I always change mine out for a PE blade that's on any Russian armour though! This kit is more engineered than there newer Abrams tusk 2 kit the hull on that thing is Yuk! All in one suspension already fixed to the hull! Yeah easy time saver but that's not fun for me lol complicated the better the challenge!

    Yep. I'm impressed! Not only by the amazing build, painting and weathering. I'm impressed by the kit itself. These beautiful textures on the turret give it a really nice touch.

    Nice video again. The only thing I'm wondering about is the pin wash before the main color. I think the effect is minimized if not completely erased by the layer of paint in the main color as is the chipping effect with white paint. Perhaps it is an idea to do the paint chipping with a slightly lighter color than the main color, filling the chips in with a little black paint afterwards, leaving a small amount of the lighter main color on the outsides of the chips. Also do the pin wash after the main color and a layer of glossy varnish. When you put the tile grout on with a salt shaker and on to yellow glue, I think the effect was more realistic than the way you did it this time.Nevertheless a very interesting project again, hope to see more of your work soon.

    What glue are you using? I know this sounds naive. I am just envious of your technique. I specialise in Napoleonics, but to pass the time I have been known to make other things. By the way, why did you pick Bizet's music for the slide show? I think you are a Grand Master

    Awesome build! Where would u recommend getting mineral spirits?

    • @qdc748a
      @qdc748a  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mineral spirits are commonly found at your local art supply store. I do not know which part of the world you are from so if you can't find it in your area, try E-Bay.

    if you haven't done it yet, you should make an effect where the tank gets hit and the shell goes into the armor but not all the way, so there is like a hole in the armor

    • @qdc748a
      @qdc748a  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I done one like that a few years ago and placed it on TH-cam. I might do another again.

    what were you doing with the pencil in that drive wheel? how did you paint the runber on the track wheels? im working on my first ever tank build as a fairly new model. you should maybe look into doing the Academy M1A1 Abrams "warpig" it's a beautiful kit with alot of detail and extra pieces to add to the realism

  • @devynhardick4630
    @devynhardick4630 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    as always qdc this a great kit, the details of the turret are amazing! . maybe in the future can you make a video on all of the kits you have built and maybe showcase them? you don't need to but it would be cool, thanks :)

    Hi QDC...just wondering if you use decal set to draw them down tight to the surface?

    • @qdc748a
      @qdc748a  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I do. I use Micro Set and Micro Sol. I give a gloss finish where the decal is going to be. Then I place the decal there, apply both chemicals. It works most of the time. If the decal is inferior then it might not work.

    At 6:35 to me angle of the tank kind of looks like a shortened is-8 tank for some reason.

    Quick question, when you have detailing like the spare track links on the front, the lamp, the equipment on the back etc that need to be small and painted with multiple colours do you put them all on, prime it all together, paint the main colour, then paint the specific colours for those ltitle parts? Or do you leave the detailing bits off, prime/paint the majority of the chassis, then paint the little details seperately and put them on.
    I'm working on my first tank kit, tamiyas amx-13 and there are lots of little tools and pipes that are half hidden under components, that need to be a different colour, that I dont really know how to get at, unless I leave them off, paint seperately, then put on after painting the rest of the tank.
