    Hey qdc, i'm relatively new to building model tanks and i was wondering what you would recommend as a good starter tank kit? I've been looking at the tamiya m14 "walker bulldog" tank but i don't know if i should start with that, also i'm interested in airbrushing but i'm looking for a cheap airbrush to start with, what would you recommend? thanks ahead of time!

    • @qdc748a
      @qdc748a  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Yeshua Flores In my opinion, most Tamiya kits are geared for all skill levels so I don't think this kit would be hard for you. I am not good at buying airbrushes. You might want to consider asking a professional airbrush artist. Look on youtube at a video of an airbrush you like and ask the artist questions.

    • @Yoshi.shoots

    Hey QDC your Tiger is riding high. I believe you made the same error I did. This is best illustrated at the 5:39 mark as you will note the torsion bars are resting on the bottom of the locator pins as opposed to the torsion bars covering the locator pins thereby lowering the suspension to the correct height. In other words the locator pins would be covered by the torsion bars and not visible. I know we are not the only ones to make this error so I did want to point it out to other modelers who may be building this kit for the first time.

    Welcome back, Maestro. Allow me a little Boston English: "WICKED AWESOME! WHATTA A PISSAH!" Translation: "BEAUTIFUL WORK! WHAT A KILLER MODEL!" Congratulations, Maestro. You are getting better all the time. Tiger Tanks have a certain mystique and yours definitely captured it. For a moment, I thought I was looking at the box cover art, not at your model. Job well done: from the assembly steps to the finished camouflage. Applying those dots by hand, indeed, shows your talent, patience, professionalism, and dedication to this hobby. Thanks for sharing and the inspiration. One question, please? Have you ever thought about something with Zimmerit? All my best. Your friend, Lou

    Hi qdc, nice video and the build turned out really good :)When you paint the wheels do you mask them to get the outer rim or paint them freehand, also it would be nice to know your process for painting and weathering the tracks, being new to modelling I find this is an area not well covered and I struggle with.Keep up the good work :)

    • @qdc748a
      @qdc748a  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Richard B I paint the road wheels by hand. I normally paint the wheels first then I paint the tracks before I put them on. I normally start with brown rust color first then I dry brush a brighter shade of rust. Then finally I dry brush the exposed metal with gun metal color.

    I’m obviously very late to this party, but I’ve been out of the model building game for 10 years. I’m getting started again, and I want to do better. I’m wondering what kind of airbrush and compressor did you use in this video, how much did you thin the buff paint and how did you get the mesh on so neatly? I always got glue on it. Thanks in advance

    • @qdc748a
      @qdc748a  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, judging by your username, I think we about the same age. I used an old Paasche model H airbrush and the compressor I use is an ordinary industrial compressor commonly sold for home builders. In truth, I'm no expert but just an ordinary man who loves building model kits. You might want to visit other TH-cam videos who does reviews of airbrushes. They probably can give your better advice than I can give. Welcome back to the hobby. You're going to find that there's a lot of opinions about building and painting a model kit. I would only take their opinions with a grain of salt because in the end, it's only you who is going to enjoy it, not them. Take care. 😊😊

    Nice video as always. Just one question, did you build the Bicycle? It seemed a little out of place in a tank kit, but I suppose a Bike would be useful sometimes. Many thanks once again for your videos, they are both enjoyable and educational.

      +jjab99 Thanks. I did not want to build the motorcycle because I wasn't interested in it. As far as I can best understand, the Germans used motorcycles as courier services during the Battle of the Bulge. Radio communication was forbidden so courier services was an important means of communication.

    been a keen follower of your work.......but could I make a suggestion......I found out purely by accident that if you use tamiya paint NATO BLACK it makes tyres and tank wheel rubber LOOK like rubber rather than flat black.....I used it on a 1/35 ww2 bmw r75 and it looked WAY better than flat black.....Love your work.....

    Just a quick comment to let you know that I enjoyed this video very much. I have just purchased this same, Tamiya King Tiger Kit, and I look forward to building and painting it. I agree with you and I am very happy with the quality of kits that Amiya is producing lately. Please keep making these videos. It is nice to see what other. Modelers are doing, and sometimes I get to see a demonstration of a kit that I may be thinking about buying. I also wanted to let you know that you do NOT seem arrogant or like you are trying to be an "expert" at all. You are very kind, friendly, and helpful. It is plain to see that you enjoy this hobby and want to share that with other scale model hobbyists. Wishing you all the best!

    Oh No, QDC! You know I love your vids but you put all of the swing arms on wrong. That little peg should be inside the swing arms, not above them. Your tank is sitting up way too high. The swing arms should almost be parallel to the chassis. King Tigers are my favorite tank.
