Dear Mr Hormazd and mr. Sergius, thank you for another wonderful podcast. GNCAP tests for 40% frontal impact are conducted at 64 kmph. Side impact tests are conducted at 50 kmph. How realistic are those speeds when compared to real world scenarios of highway driving. Thank you and best wishes always.
I remember he did comment on this very point in some other video. He said highway speeds are obviously higher than the crash tests but "something is better than nothing"
The moment we say 'sedan', the Jetta's silhouette comes to mind. Glad to see you guys do the same 😊 Maruti has shut the "sheet-metal thickness equals safety" argument for good, a true masterstroke. If the ground clearance was such an issue would the DZire taxis be criss-crossing our cities and highways ? If the DZire can convert 20% of the CSUV buyers, I think it can start a revival of the segment.
On CVT automatic, think with series hybrid coming , it will be redundant. Electric Motor is the best drive train for a car. Even if hybrid comes out costlier than CVT, it will make up with significant increase in mileage that hybrid will give. Goong forward probably we will have manual, AMT, hybrid and EV versions of all vehicles
Best car for mumbai (non existent) roads under 30 lacs Most suburbs in mumbai have extremely poor quality roads with potholes and patchwork. I currently use a creta and there is a constant rumble / bumps and significant body roll which tires one out. Even the so called expressways eastern and western are like driving on the moon’s surface. I have tried to reduce the air pressure but that creates a new issue that you start to feel even the smallest undulation. Which car would you recommend for a comfortable ride on such roads? Sedan or suv under 30 lacs.
Go fir a car that has stiffer suspension. In my opinion if you drive at higher speed, the stiffer suspension will take the potholes in a better manner.
Dzire will rock the world now the new design elements and 5 star ncap rating makes it safe for human lives. Suzuki's service network is the best in India. ❤❤❤
Really interesting quality Podcast.Mr.Homrazd has versatile knowledge of Auto World like sort of encyclopedia of Car Industry of India. I have been following him since 1998 through Car Megazine.
22:00 I would have been happier if the 2024 facelift Dzire had an AT(Torque Converter) transmission . Currently, I own TC an 2009 Hyundai Sports AT I am so happy with the TC as it drives seamlessly. And it is very responsive when u need the extra power for a immediate takeover.

An important topic not being discussed by auto journalists is that the old dzire with poor safety ratings will still continue as taxi/fleet version. This action will put lakhs of Indians who travel everyday in Taxis or app cabs in danger. Road safety should not be only for those who buy cars for personal use.
Safety cannot be just the vehicle alone. It is a mindset which is still missing or compromised in India. Be it the road design, speed limit adherence, wearing of seat belts, vehicle maintenance, lane driving, sitting with toddlers in front seat, pedestrian courtesy, expressway driving...people just don't care. Some of it maybe lack of awareness but it reflects the mindset of the populace!
Talking of fuel efficiency that you guys touched upon, could Autocar devote a show on "multi-power" offerings in the future? We are now beginning to see "2 power" sources - it started with hybrid-plus-ICE and now we're seeing CNG-plus-petrol. Are we likely to see something like "Ethanol-mix-Petrol Plus Hybrid" in the near future? This could be a game changer, especially when our engines become 20% Ethanol capable. Together with Hybrid, especially strong hybrid, this could be one that customers could see huge advantages in terms of running costs and one that would differentiate the first OEM that comes out with a product on these lines. Personally, I would greatly welcome a median price range sedan or SUV - Rs.12 L to 20 L - that gives me both an Ethanol capable ICE plus a strong hybrid. What do you folks think?
AMTs of Maruti are much better than Hyundais in terms of head nod and mileage - comparing Celerio and Exter, having driven them back to back for months.
Should there be a awd in other Maruti’s cars… because a awd makes a lot of sense when we are driving in Indian roads… specially road trips to mountains?
@8:25 i wouldve purchased the Ameo diesel with DSG instead of POLO GT, but because of the bad looks and was a big concern for my wife,, i had to get her the fuel inefficient polo GT. Otherwise , ameo diesel with dsg was the best bang for the buck. PS: I already had a vento and jetta at the same time!
Dear mr Hormazd, it is said that when driving a cng fueled vehicle, in a day, the first 4 to 5 kms and the last 4 to 5 kms are to be run on petrol to prolong the engine's life. Would appreciate your opinion. Thank you very much.
I don't think calling older Marutis Tin can was trolling. It is because of this bad rap that Maruti finally switched to high tensile steel and stable shell. Now we have Maruti taking safety seriously, now after calling Tatas as Desh ka Loha, safe car. We can start calling them out on their unreliability.
I always had one question in my mind. Good opportunity to ask it here Why did Tata cannabalise the Zest so soon with the launch of Tigor ? (Similar to Hyundai's Venue and Exter)
I wish compact sedans will come with strong hybrid (like 5kWh battery, not that meagre 500wH battery pack). Or the best option would be to make EV compact sedans.
Dzire is good but some cost cutting in top variants is not acceptable like arm rest, electronic irvm, ventilated seats, boot inside cover, a cheap looking key, small tyres, uv cut glasses. 🙏 Please we don't need sunroof and that foldable screen on dash.
Their customer don’t worry about potholes, bad roads as they are generally chauffeured. Also, they have the money to have multiple car options compared to affordable sedan buyers, who needs to have road presence, ground clearance for bad roads etc
The only reason to setback to buy Dzire is the AMT transmission... For the zxi+ we can get Fronx 1.0 with the same 6-airbags version with a good discount.
Dezire+AMT is worst combination.. Service centre costed me around 1lakh for its issues... Don't buy AMT with Suzuki... You need replace entire unit... That's bad thing
Automakers should provide automatic transmission options for all variants, we don't need other gimmicks but transmission type should be an option, it's time when automatic shouldn't be a luxury only.
One dislike for safety talk makes people feel superior, and people do it for moral grandstanding. I mean, why shouldn’t they? How are people going to measure a very crucial aspect of the vehicle in which they are going to put their families in?
I am from Himachal below 4 cylinders is bad 3 cylinder cars on full load make more gear changes here making the ride uncomfortable for the driver, plus when you go high in the mountains due to low air it becomes terrible
Brilliant Content as usual why still use age old Automated Manual Transmission & Why not use CVT or Torque Converter simple. Honda should name their products now not as Amaze it should be Chromaze or Elavate should called Chromevate 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Amazing Insights on auto industry as usual 👌🏼🤘🏻🚗
Tata's engine killed its sub sedan cars. Maruti got the taxi market for its engine reliability and cheap parts availability. Wish Tata come back with better bs6 engine.
It’s time they show some love on Ciaz; just slap on grand vitara’s interior sharpen the looks little bit as well as the build quality add 4 more airbags as standard and please don’t add sunroof - for Indian climate it’s useless- AC will be better
That segment isn't selling much, and most people don't really like to buy a maruti suzuki in that segment, suzuki themselves didn't update it too, it's better to discontinue it.......
With coming of new premium model of Amaze, the sub four meter segment of Honda gets abolished and making it quit from taxi fleet. Ford's quit from India made aspire dead and quit from taxi fleet. Toyota also no more in taxi fleet. Tata also not in race. Present king in taxi fleet is Suzuki dezire and side by side is Hyundai aura. As there is no compitition and customer has no option, it makes Suzuki dezire sell in taxi fleet always high in future.
Whoever came up with this idea of sub 4 meter cars , and 1.2 litre engine? They look horrible. They could have had cars like i20, extended hatchbacks instead, with 1.3 or 1.4 litre engines ! What a disaster for consumers.
My advice - boycott these stupid 1.0 L engine cars with pathetic AMT options - and wait for series hybrid cars from Suzuki next year (fronx etc). Series hybrid will drive like electric cars, with much better mileage of petrol too !
No. The 4m rule didn't led to pathetic design but it led to cheaper cars. Proportionate and balanced cars are still there, you just have to pay more for that.

Dzire looks nice in flesh, finally Suzuki is getting serious about vehicle designs.
Dzire, Swift, Fronx : all these new cars have great design IMO
I hope sedans make a big comeback
Only thing that will revive the sedan segment is good roads
Exactly... been a sedan fan for the longest time but not considering it even the slavia coz here in MZ, 180mm is not even enough
it will revive only when this mentality changes . there are more hatches than fake suvs
@@hruaitearalteroads aren't that good in MZ? Also I think it's not because of ground clearance but ramp over angle

I remember he did comment on this very point in some other video. He said highway speeds are obviously higher than the crash tests but "something is better than nothing"
you may be driving at 100-120 kmph, but people do brake in most scenarios to prevent accidents, in that case, speed can be possibly in lower range.
I do not think that there is a study like that on real road accidents.
Its all about comparing to another car to understand which one is safer thats all
The moment we say 'sedan', the Jetta's silhouette comes to mind. Glad to see you guys do the same 😊

Maintaining the old gen for the fleet customers is a master stroke.

Ha ha ha. Someone reversed Vento into a wall
27:06 true words by master...
Please talk about Citroen. I feel like they are a good brand but for some reason they are not doing good.
Already a podcast made on them . They don't have money to expand in India. With limited showroom it is difficult to sell cheap cars .
They have a podcast on Citroen check it out!
Isn't that how the europeans work in India.
6air bags and rear defogger in lxi made go... Awwwwwww

Grand vitarra hybrid
If concerned about suspension, Renault and best one Citroen, a bit fronx also you might check.

The Tata Manza was a beautiful Sedan. Very comfortable with good boot space & fairly good mileage.

A taxi guy should definitely consider an AMT and you guys should promote it. The new DTC bus automatic makes driver life way easier than before.
Yes bring the sedans and those comfy rear seats and roomy cabins
6:12 I don't think dzire will achieve that kind of sales again. They're not allowing taxi operators to finance the car for taxi use.
They will combine the sales of the 3rd gen taxi and 4th gen private and list that as the total sales of the dzire
An important topic not being discussed by auto journalists is that the old dzire with poor safety ratings will still continue as taxi/fleet version. This action will put lakhs of Indians who travel everyday in Taxis or app cabs in danger. Road safety should not be only for those who buy cars for personal use.

Any new scoop on Maruti's upcoming series Hybrid fronx ?
The length of the poscast is absolutely fine!

I think Volkswagen Ameo is one such sub 4 meter suv, where designers really struggled.
@25lakhs which will be a better drive .... jeep compass or thar Roxx ?? (Diesel trim only)
None. With Diesel Delhi smog will be better.
Compass
Jeep Compass obviously
Compass no doubt
Compass all day long

I feel Hyundai's are smoother. But potato tomato.
AMTs are amts.
Yes, Hyundai s amt is too good compared to maruti
Absolutely, they give mileage and smoothness. Plus larger service network cheap parts. So a hassle free ownership
@@abhi8441999 true, in lower gears AMTs are irritating
I believe Exter has got the best AMT. Personal opinion though.

I always had one question in my mind. Good opportunity to ask it here
Why did Tata cannabalise the Zest so soon with the launch of Tigor ?
(Similar to Hyundai's Venue and Exter)
Venue and exter r two diff segments...jus like Nexon and punch
Nexon competes with Creta I think@@dineshy7532
The Aspire was a pretty car with the whole car having some lovely lines.
Is Maruti planning to have a series hybrid in Desire. Can you comment please.
When will new Honda Amaze will be launched
@Autocar please do a similar kind of podcast for MPV segment. Very interesting to watch
For the GNCAP, I believe we "deserved" as customers of MS. Why do we have to sit in dangerous car at all?
Hormazd & Sergius , i really enjoy every week your podcast😀
I wish compact sedans will come with strong hybrid (like 5kWh battery, not that meagre 500wH battery pack). Or the best option would be to make EV compact sedans.

Their customer don’t worry about potholes, bad roads as they are generally chauffeured. Also, they have the money to have multiple car options compared to affordable sedan buyers, who needs to have road presence, ground clearance for bad roads etc
27:18 . So true

new amaze with CVT + 4 cylinder ivtec will be sooo much better. smart people will wait for amaze before deciding
But it won't come with the 1.5 it will come with the 1.2 which is not that powerful, but yeah it's very smooth and refined
Make the roads the sedan deserve and people will buy sedan
We need a sport edition with 1.0 engine fully black leather interior with ventilated seats..
Dezire+AMT is worst combination.. Service centre costed me around 1lakh for its issues... Don't buy AMT with Suzuki... You need replace entire unit... That's bad thing
agreed, they are unreliable gearbox

Imagine what ddis 1.3 ltr would have felt in new dzire.
A diesel compact sedan will still do well, Tata, Hyundai should give it a go. And if Mahindra can they should as well.
I prefer a sedan over an SUV any day. SUVs as an every day car and in city, does not make sense at all.
Is the heart as good as the body and its good looks.
Instead of AMT a top end model with AT will grab more customers. Maruthis old school 4 Speed ATs are very much reliable..
Tata's engine killed its sub sedan cars. Maruti got the taxi market for its engine reliability and cheap parts availability.

Yes, it will do what volkswagen/ skoda could not do !
Mumbai roads full of Maruti and Hyundai taxis name it you have it all for you 😂
Dzire deserve booster jet engine
Criaz next generation is needed😮
Dzire which are bought by private buyers are for tour and cab purpose. Not sure even 5% are used as private cars.
Hope Ciaz gets the facelift
i still believe suv's offer more comfort than a sedan on long highway runs
It depends on which car you are, depends on the suspension too
Big fan desire , own one

There is no aspiration to get a dzire, it will do good numbers but only as a taxi.
You think so but it isn't the case. With the new looks of dzire it definitely has got aspirational quotient
They are not selling the new model as taxis i guess
CVT will cut power
Everything is fine with this good looking car and the miserable 1.2 l engine
