@@Sew-Happy I also have the simplicity S9595 trousers pattern which I'm itching to make. Just watched your video on those. Thank you very much for making these tutorials. I know how time consuming they are to put together. They will be a great help. X
@@GagaKnits thank you. Glad you're getting use of a few videos here!! Yes, the videos take time to make, but it's almost as addicting as the sewing itself. 😆
I've made both the gathered tier version and the pleated version. This is a fun little dress and it's loads of fun if made in several different fabrics in the dress. It's a good project for embellishment as well.
Great video much clearer for beginners than the Minerva one. I’ve had a disaster with my back neck I somehow caught the bodice just at the tip if the back slit and the fabric all shredded. It’s a linen mix and I don’t have enough to cut another front and back
Thank you for watching. I wonder if your "disaster" is at the base of the slit, if you could just make the slit longer and slit into the facing by the same amount? If it's at the top of the slit, you could make the neckline a little lower, just below your fabric damage.
@@Sew-Happy thank you , I have m aged to save it. It was at the bottom of the slit and I was using linen and must of caught it and caused a hole. Ive cut it a little longer and put a stay stitch there just in case.
Thank you!! This was a thrifted fabric, so I can't say for sure, but it seems to be a textured polyester crepe. 💜 They had this and the orange one I used for the Peppermint Wrap Top ( th-cam.com/video/6-dpQxtZTGA/w-d-xo.html ) -- same material. 🧡
Hi there. Yes, I have gathered with a serger before and it does work nicely. Here is a link that discusses the technique and settings: blog.treasurie.com/gathering-with-a-serger/ Thanks for watching!
Hi. You could omit the back slit and sew it as a pull-over dress, but you would have to widen the neckline. As is, without the slit, you could not get it over your head.
You gather each tier just until it fits the circumference of the fabric your attaching it to. So the first tier should be gathered to fit the bottom bodice measurement.
Thank goodness for you! .. No unnecessary waffle just straight up great tutoring, thank you. I've subscribed 😊
Thank you -- I appreciate the feedback. Glad you're here! 😁
The best sew along that’s beginner friendly. You did an excellent job 👍🏽👍🏽
Oh, thank you so much. So glad it's helpful. Thanks for watching.
This is such a useful video, thank you!
🥰 thanks for letting me know
I am making this dress in a collaboration, and I thank you for all of the instructions you gave with this pattern.😊
Oh nice! Glad it helped. Hopefully I'll get to see your collaboration and finished dress out there on Instagram? 👀
I made a cotton dress with this pattern and it comes in huge size, lots of ease-for my next dress I'll probably size down by 2 sizes
How was the bodice sizing? Sometimes you can grade down the skirt part - less gathers/ volume
I'm right in the middle of sewing this version of that dress so greatly enjoyed your video.Thank you. X
Wonderful to hear. I'm sure you'll make a wonderful dress! I just wore mine the other day, too. :)

Excellent visuals. Terrific tutorial! Thank you!
Thank you for watching and for the lovely comment. Have you made it, too?
Love it. Easy to follow tutorial. Thanks!:)
🤗 thanks for the comment. This was a fun sew. 🪡 Thinking to make one, too?
Your tutoring is excellent. It’s so easy to follow as it is not full o fluff but rather straightforward. Such a refreshing approach. I’m subscribed.

Oo, I like the idea of colorblocking this pattern. Glad you've had fun with it -- thanks for sharing!
Excellent presentation and thank you

@@Louise-xr5ok great to hear! I know it feels so good to save a project-gone-wrong!
Love the color! What kind of fabric did you use here? Thx so much for this tutorial. I am loving your quick straightforward tutes!

I’ve seen others use their serger to make the gathers. Have you ever done it that way? Thank you for the tutorial. It was great!

What if you don’t have a serger please
No true need for a serger -- you can use a zig zag stitch to finish the seams or use french seams for an even cleaner finish. 🎉
Can this dress be made as a pull-over, without making the slit in the back?
Hi. You could omit the back slit and sew it as a pull-over dress, but you would have to widen the neckline. As is, without the slit, you could not get it over your head.
How do I know how much to gather please
You gather each tier just until it fits the circumference of the fabric your attaching it to. So the first tier should be gathered to fit the bottom bodice measurement.
@@Sew-Happy thank you
The material you chose is awful although the lesson is good.
This is one of my favorite dresses - thanks for watching 💜
