    That old Fiat's were really good tractors, it was very popular here in South Africa, it was marketed and maintained by all our co-ops, we had also two off them I think it was the 780 if I don't mistaken, thanks for bringing this beauty to TH-cam

      Jan Kotze glad you had no problems with the FIATs. Their cars had to endure the joke in the 90s Fix-It-Again-Tomorrow

    Magnificint tractors! As you know I own a 70-90, and I love it! The engines in the fiat tractors will hold on to the bitter end. Actually the engines are still Fiat today in every CNH tractor, known as FPT, or Fiat Power Train. The transmission set up is still the same in the T4 models CNH produces today. Very reliable, and, in my opinion, never has met it's match. Sorry about that JD and Fendt guys. 😋 Thanks for the video! Big thumbs up!👍👍

    Very interesting. I've never seen one in person. I didn't realize that Fiat made the Hesston brand tractors and how close they are related to CNH. And the bar to hold the door open is a slick feature. That would be a pretty cool addition for tractors with the old Year-Round cabs.

    I happened across this. My Hesston 6066 which I bought in 1987, was brought from Bath, NY , down to North Carolina and it still is excellent. Is presently being used for placement of galvanized culvert drainage pipes. It has no computer components and starts down to 40 degrees without plugging in the block heater.

  • @sneakysnake109

    First, thanks for another great video. Your work is greatly appreciated. Second, I assume Claas designed these bailers for use with lower hp tractors (Claas is self powered, correct? ), but most of the videos I see where these bailers are used, the tractor pulling the bailer seems to have plenty of hp to bail hay. 130 pto hp should be plenty I would think. Can you straighten out my way of thinking. I didn't think bailing hay took that much hp. I realize larger bails would take more than small bails but I spent quite a lot of time making small round bails with an old AC pto operated pull bailer behind an AC WD45, which certainly didn't have much hp by today's standards. Thanks in advance for your response.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very cool on the WD45. Was the AC baler a Roto Baler or Square baler? This Claas is powered through the tractors pto. A 90-100 hp tractor could run a Big Baler but the pto drive really surges back and forth so the bigger the better. I filmed a new 2018 Claas Big Baler on a John Deere 8295R. Despite the tractors size it knew the baler was back there running at almost 9 mph.

    • @jackybruckers
      @jackybruckers 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sneakysnake109 This baler needs a 200 hp tractor to work comfortable. Especially in haylage.
      The density in big square bales is much higher than in round bales or little square bales.

    • @sneakysnake109
      @sneakysnake109 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bigtractorpower First, thanks for the response. I had no idea these large bailers took that much hp to run. The ac bailer was a round bailer. My grandpa didn't have much of a barn to store hay in, so used the round bails for their water shedding abilities. Thanks again, love the videos!

    • @SlipShodBob
      @SlipShodBob 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sneakysnake109 I was told with big balers there are a lot variables like crop, how fit it is, how thick it is etc you then have the typography of the land if it is as smooth as a snooker table or resembles the Himalayas. But you also have the age and size of the baler as well as the make which can cause it to vary greatly as well as the age of the tractor as a number of contractors here have stated with the older tractors they have needed less hp than the modern tractors to run the same machine.
      A 3ft x 3ft sounds like what we call a Mini Heston and the same size bale as a New Holland D1010 makes which was rated at needing a minimum hp of 110hp or 82kW some of the older quadrant balers (3x4"8ft) I believe only needed 140hp and even some of the old Heston size balers (4x4x8ft) needed not much different but then the newer balers are capable of higher densities. But what make the biggest difference in requirements is speed at least by the opinion of the local hay and straw merchant and contractor. When he started out he used a 130-140hp MF on the baler and use to go at walking pace through a reasonable straw crop as his business has expanded now and he needs to cover much more ground though the baler hasn't changed much he runs a Fendt 933 Vario on them which is over 300hp and you'd have trouble running to keep up with him.

      It’s very fuzzy. The camera that filmed this was from 2007. My friend filmed it and his camera is just to old. But it’s a rare classic that is 16 hours from me so I was thankful to be able to share its story despite the fuzziness. I was worried about comments on the focus but so far out of a 70 comments yours was the only one so I guess the story made up for the filming issue. I am going to get a new camera to New York so hopefully my friend can get clearer footage of the Hesston chopping corn. But I will take fuzzy over not getting something this rare. .

      I like finding unique classic tractors. Hesston is interesting because it was an American company acquired by an Italian company. Fiat invested money and expanded the product line to include tillage implements and the first Big Baler ever. The tractors were a bonus for dealers because it made them a full line dealership over night.
