I think that Gregory's advice here is spot-on. GOOD retails understand that they have a scarce commodity to offer, but they DO want to serve local customers and continue to expand their goodwill in the local market. They would not need a brick-and-mortar store if they wanted to just sell every piece and not care who buys; they get phonecalls from around the world every hour. As Gregory says, show up, be friendly, respect their time, show your interest, and show that you understand the scarcity but are willing to be PATIENT. They love to sell to first-time customers. Rolex? A Datejust is a great first-time purchase. Great watch and not so scarce vs. Professional models.
Holy Moses. No way I'm doing that for a Rolex. Here's a pro-tip: Spend your money on a GS or Omega. Better watches overall. Buy a Rolex whenever they sort their sh*t out and don't make a potential honest customer have to go through so much bullsh*t to get one. My days!
The thing is that the demand outstrips the offer. So Rolex tries to give these watches to good clients or people who have a genuine passion for the brand or watches. They want to avoid flippers. Nothing wrong with that. My advice to you: yes buy that GS and enjoy it while you wait for your Rolex. But do put your name on that waitlist and check in from time to time show you are serious. You will get it eventually. I did that with my Tudor, waited a couple of years until my Sub came through, and now I have both (and many others too… Panerai, Omega, IWC, Doxa, Breitling 😂) … but the Rolex is the king of the collection and its worth being patient and persistent.
Recently I started visiting a few Rolex dealers as I intend to get a DJ41 for my dad for his birthday. My dad never own a Rolex before so I knew he will be absolutely thrilled if ever I buy him one. I visited about 4 different AD and sharing them my plan what I hope to get for my dad especially the right dial design with 2-tone material. I remember I told the sales person I have never own any sports series before so I don’t shop for watches as regularly so most AD wouldn’t have offered me one either so I will be grateful if I can at least get a DJ41 of my choice meant for my dad. The last time I bought any watches was more than 8 years ago and it was in Japan and not in my country Singapore so I knew my chance is seriously slim but I really hope to get one for my dad’s 80th birthday. So just a month ago I got a call from one of the AD at the airport. She was asking me when likely would be my next travel and I gave her my estimate travel date. She then explained that DJ41 may be coming in soon so she would help me to keep a look out so I was really hopeful that I can get the watch before my dad’s birthday this month. 3 days prior to my travel the AD called me again to confirm and she send me a picture of my choice. The best part was she asked me if I want to get a sports model what would that be so I scream Daytona but unfortunately she doesn’t have one and offered me if I like a Sub. I was shocked and choke at the same time. I presented my dad his first Rolex this morning 😂and I wore my sub to sleep 😉. Hope my experience may inspire some of you on your journey for your first Rolex.
I’ve been wearing Rolex watches for 24 years, I’m a collector. In all my years I’ve never had a bad experience with an AD. AD’s respect people who are truly loyal to the Brand. It’s not about kissing up to the AD it’s about being genuine, having patience and showing respect.
You are crazy. It’s kissing ass is what it is, period. Why should customers who are spending a large sum have to do that. My Rolex GMTB was stolen so now what. I go to the back of the line. Bullshit.
Everyone, give your AD's a chance. I live in Tulsa and the AD here on 15th Street is FANTASTIC. My first visit was exactly two weeks prior to receiving my Sub LV. On my first visit I registered my 3 models of interest (Sub LV was #2). Two weeks later, I went in to ask if they could fix a broken ring mount (my second visit), and the AD said he had something to show me. 2 hours later I was wearing the Sub LV. What I did: Be sincere. Show interest in the store. Be honest. Let them know you will be giving them your business in other areas. Know exactly what models you want and why. Dress respectfully. Wear a Rolex.
I got a JC Deepsea in about 6 weeks. Bought a couple of tudors I had been after. Reason I comment is because I wear almost exclusively jeans, often torn, black band t shirts (usually metal bands), and vans or Jordans. I thought about dressing up but I just wanted to be me. I was very nice to everyone in there. I think initially they were a little hesitant when I asked to try on some Rolex display models but they let me and we had a nice chat. I put my name down for a deepsea and in about 6 weeks I had it. I agree with everything that you had to say on that but I'm not going to be anyone except for me when I go in there. Granted I bought a couple of tudors before I got the offer but they were both tudors that I wanted. had a great experience there and will buy again
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It's really cool to hear that you landed a JC Deepsea in just 6 weeks, that's fantastic. And the Tudors sound like a great addition too. Your story just goes to show, it's not always about dressing up or trying to fit a certain mold. It's about being genuine and kind, which you've proven perfectly. I'm a big believer in just being yourself, and it sounds like that approach really worked for you. It's great to hear that you had a positive experience and got the watches you wanted while staying true to your style. Stories like yours inspire all of us in this watch-loving community. I appreciate your thoughts, and I'm sure they'll encourage others to be themselves while pursuing their watch passion. Can't wait to hear about your future timepiece adventures!
I just ordered my first Rolex 2 weeks ago it’s a Yachtmaster 40 we rose gold chocolate dial. Wait time is December 2024. I had no issue at all the AD was very nice and she knew I had no knowledge about Rolex and still helped me with lots of patience. Just hoping I can get it sooner lol
Realistically. .. how many GMT Meteorite dial watches does a typical middle sized dealer get per year? If he says you’re number 20 on a list.. is that 20 years??
Haha, if you're number 20 on that list, you might want to start planning your retirement! At this rate, you could be handing it down to your grandkids!
Spending history has become less and less important. I wouldn’t advise to think this is the only factor. Once you start having some experience, you can see which ADs play a dirty game. Not all of them are like that but I agree that a lot are! Economy anyway will make room and things will change very shortly! Anyways, appreciate your comment and taking time for watching 😊
Hey! Thanks for the kind words. The watch I am wearing is The Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds Reference Q3988482. Absolute stunning watch.
Love your Reverso Tribute Duo! I just got my Explorer 36mm last week after a short 1 week wait. I never had a purchase history, I went in wearing very casually, and I never expected anything from them. It was a pleasant surprise that my first Rolex purchase went so well.
Hey there, thank you so much for the awesome compliment about my Reverso Tribute Duo! It's always nice to hear positive feedback about something that you love. And congratulations on getting your first Rolex, the Explorer 36mm! That's so exciting! I'm so happy to hear that you had a great experience purchasing it, especially since you didn't have any purchase history with them. It's always a nice surprise when things go well, isn't it? The Explorer is such a classic and versatile piece, and I hope you get a ton of enjoyment out of it. Thanks again for sharing your experience - it's always great to connect with fellow watch enthusiasts!
Depends on which model. I waited patiently 1.5yrs for a Datejust 41 Wimbleton (2 Tone), never got the call. I'm so happy to bought mine yesterday from a local watch dealer.
Hey Tony! Yes sir, the AD “game” is not for everyone. Glad you’re happy with secondary market. If we can help you with any watch, feel free to reach out!
Something I think you and others gloss over with this general method of Rolex acquisition through building a "relationship": Understand the personnel structure of the AD you decide to deal with. Rolex distribution is done through allocation to the stores that can afford the "mystery box of watches" and who has shown they can move the tougher to sell watches. They reward success with a higher allocation of the hot models. The exact same thing is going on INSIDE the store. What do I mean? Well, I think I have some experience here. There is a pecking order inside the store. The sales manager becomes sales manager because of success. He watches all the other sales people and I believe this person allocates stock and essentially controls which salespeople get what watches. I spent three years "building a relationship" with a salesperson. I did all 8 of your steps, even buying other brand watches from him (all watches I wanted, luckily). Over time I became aware of the personnel structure inside the store. After being pretty clear what two models I was interested in I was put on a "waiting list". One day I got a call. Imagine my excitement. Then imagine my reaction when the "call" was not for my 126610. The salesman said' " I've been allocated a 31mm steel watch order. Would you be interested?". Well, as it happens I WAS interested in getting a watch for my wife. We ordered it. But it was precisely then that I realized that there was a pecking order... and I had picked the wrong salesman to with whom to build a relationship. Fast forward 9 months; That salesman is gone. I went in to see him and was introduced to his replacement. I'm relegated to the "new guy". He's a lovely fellow. He's knowledgeable and friendly. But I am now even lower on the pecking order inside the store. They will not be starting this fellow out with Subs, Daytonas, and GMTs. My advice, do your research on the sales structure of the AD you are going to do business with. Figure out who has the best allocations INSIDE the store and get to know THAT person. Lesson learned.
Thank you for sharing your experience and offering some valuable advice. You make a really great point about the importance of understanding the personnel structure of the AD you're working with. It's true that there can be a pecking order within a store, and different salespeople may have access to different models or allocations of watches.
I was on the list for years for an explorer and finally got one last week. I'd kinda written it off and tbh i was slightly underwhelmed when i got it. Compared to the smp300 i bought 2 years ago i decided i wanted it and owned it after a few weeks. It was a much more enjoyable buying experience...
I have done most of these steps and I have a good connection with my rep. When I ask him for a watch I often get the run around and realize I can't get the watch. I get the feeling he needs to get the approval from upper management. I am always reminded from him that my spend history doesn't justify my request for a daytona or a gmt. I have bought two DJ 41 mm that u do t really want. Not sure if I should continue this game and just try another watch brand. Does he need to get approval from upper managers or is he just trying g to get me to spend more money?
Thanks for taking the time to writing your story. Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this. At this point, I’d try to reach out to different ADs and try your luck elsewhere while still keep the relationship with this AD and try to get access to upper management. Attend events they might throw. That could help.
I went into an authorized dealer wearing my tutor blackbay 58 just curious on what kinda watches they had in there besides Rolex and kinda got offered a Rolex. Was going to end up buying a Hamilton or another blackbay. The lady was super nice an could tell I really was passionate about watches and offered me to try on some Rolex’s. Only waited 1 month until they called me for my no date submariner which shocked me. So happy to finally have one, never thought I’d own a Rolex in my life.
As consumers spending money, we still have to build up relationships and suck up to the sellers? Priorities are fucking wrong! You make money from me, yet I have to suck up to you?
Welcome back and thanks for the show and the advice. Worked very well for me too! Very nice video, you have a nice office! Who designed and decorated it? Greetings from Europe. Schön dich wieder zu sehen. Georg
I can't push myself to lay it on so thick with the AD just to "get the call' and be utterly grateful for the dealer to accept my money for him to sell me an expensive watch. "Built a network, write nice thank you e-mails, chat about other watches than Rolex" Thanks but no thanks. Grey market it is for me.
I totally get where you're coming from - building relationships with ADs can feel like a lot of effort, and it's not for everyone. If you're more comfortable going the grey market route, then that's totally fine too! At the end of the day, it's all about finding the best fit for you as a buyer. Happy to help if you're looking for a piece.
Agreed, especially if you're paying close to the same prices. But if you're going to "save" $6k on a Pepsi GMT getting it at retail, I'm gonna take 5 minutes to send a nice email 😊
Thank you for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video! Human rapport and relationship building are key! A lot of work that a lot of people don’t want to put effort in!
Great content… I get on on really well with my AD. I bought my first Rolex late 2022. I have a meeting booked next week to discuss my next piece. I just need to make a decision before I attend as to which model I’m requesting for my next piece. Any suggestions? 🤔
Good luck with your meeting my friend! Tough to advise as I don’t know you, don’t know if you own a collection and what pieces you like. If it was me, I’d go with the new YachtMaster in Titanium. Pretty cool piece.
Sorry but I don't agree with you. Who do ADs think they are? I am a mid term flipper. If I want a Rolex now, then I buy it from grey market for extra 2-3 grand more then I sell it similar price or low. Example: I bought a Rolex explorer in 2021 for 8500 eu and I sold it 8000 eu in January 2023. I lost 500 eu . But in my perspective I just rent it for 2 years. Daily rent price for me was 500eu/720days = 0.7 eu per day. That's simple. I do not want to create relationship with any AD or or spend nonsense efforts to have a watch. Kind Regards Levent
Hey! For sure, this is not for everybody. If you’re happy with secondary market, you for sure can skip this road! If you need any help with any piece, feel free to reach out. Happy to help! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video. It’s reassured me, that I am doing the correct thing. I have finally managed to meet, an SA (sales associate), who I click with, who sees my passion, who appreciates that I know exactly which, model I am interested in, how I wear my current Rolex daily and enjoy it. My SA even said exactly as you, show interest, pop in, turn up for store events, say hi, let me get to know you, my SA knows I am a true fan, of the brand, the history and the quality, my SA has also met my fiancé and knows I value it and wear it with pride. My SA offered to take my details, for a “wish list” first time we met, something I have not managed in 5 years, knows that I am looking to add the new Rolex to my collection as my wedding gift. My SA is kind, fun, interesting and most of all understanding. Long story short, I know it’s not easy, but my SA has restored my faith in fairness, only time will tell if I eventually will be offered my dream watch.
Hey thanks for taking the time to comment! It's always so refreshing to hear about a Sales Associate who takes the time to understand and appreciate a customer's passion. Your connection with them sounds like a true gem in the world of watch collecting. I'm absolutely delighted that my video was able to reassure you and contribute positively to your watch-collecting journey. It's stories like yours that inspire me to keep creating and sharing content about these magnificent timepieces. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your dream Rolex will soon be a part of your collection. That's going to be such an incredible wedding gift. And remember, the journey to get the watch can be just as beautiful as the moment you finally have it. Thank you so much for your lovely comment, and don't forget to keep us all updated about your journey. Wishing you all the best for your wedding and your watch collection!
My local AD (the one I go to more often) are very nice people & are reputable in the jewelry business for their honesty, I never asked for anything but they never offered me a Rolex. One day if they offer me one I won't turn it down but I won't buy it. This game can be played both ways 😂
it's so great to hear that you have a good relationship with your local AD and that they have a reputation for being honest. It's refreshing to find people in the jewelry business who truly care about their customers. I totally hear you about the process of buying a Rolex feeling like a game - it can definitely be a bit of a back-and-forth between buyer and seller. We will see when they offer you that Rolex :D
@@thesecondhandclub I visited them with my old 6694 once, I was in to get a ring for my wife and they complimented me, I felt it was forced 😉😂 I owned two Rolex ever, I sold them both recently because I wore them for decades and we needed new windows so part of the deal I got more bling for the Miss with the windows, happy wife happy AD! That goes both ways too...
I’m looking forward to the day that if it’s available , you just walk in and buy it instead of all this other shady wheeling and dealing and special relationship with dealers etc .
There is s big difference between get A rolex snd gwtting THE rolex you want. Being encouraged ro buy a watch you dont love is the perrect way to feed the grey narket
The number one strategy of Rolex is to sell to VIP clients and secondly to Rolex AD connected known grey market dealers to increase value of their product, why would they sell to a regular customer that doesn’t add any value to their brand? It’s a rigged game!
They want local clients. Of course, every jeweler will give their best watches to big spenders and VIPs but if you apply those tips with a fair AD, there is no reason you will get an allocation at some point! But i agree with you, some ADs play a dirty game.
I got my first Rolex with no purchase history at my local AD, I got a submariner date in 4 months, then the mint green dial datejust and now waiting for the Pepsi
Great tips. Here is another tip: wear a decent watch when you go the dealer… Wear your Omega or whatever. Show you are the kind of guy who has a genuine appreciation of watches and is working his way to that Rolex. If you come with an empty wrist, its a red flag, it means you're a flipper.
Hey there, Thanks a bunch for your insightful tip! I really appreciate it and couldn't agree more. Donning a nice watch, like your Omega or any other quality piece, does make a solid impression when you're at the dealer. It's a simple yet meaningful way to say, "Hey, I genuinely love watches and I'm working my way up to that Rolex." I love the idea of your wrist doing the talking and demonstrating that you're not a flipper, but a true enthusiast. It's these little nuggets of wisdom, shared by seasoned collectors like you, that make our community so special and informed. Your tip is definitely going into my mental note box for future videos. I bet it'll help many of our fellow watch enthusiasts on their journey to owning a Rolex. Keep those awesome tips and stories coming. We all learn from each other here!
Enjoyed your videos. Very well presented. Sadly I'm the kind of guy that if you want my money don't expect me to line up to give you it. My ego wont allow it 😂. Been a watch collector for a number of years and rock a blackbay and speedmaster as my general weekly rotations. Still love watches but im not saying they are the bsst watches in the world but they do such a good job nothing as appealed to me to purchase. All the best guys
People who want it can happily lick the shoes of a Rolex AD. I choose Cartier and Omega as my preferred brands. In addition, I take great pleasure in buying some micro brands.
what i heard was annoy the sales team untill they get tired of you wasting therir time talk8ng about watches and trying on models youndont want untill they give you what you want
Haha, that's a way to put it! You have somehow to stand out from the crow! Hey, not everyone has the patience to go through this entire "game" and process :)
Hey there, I totally get where you're coming from. It can definitely be frustrating when you're trying to build a connection with your AD but they're not available or not responding to your emails. It's important to remember that they're likely juggling a lot of different customers and requests, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating when you're left hanging. Have you tried reaching out to them in a different way, or asking if there's a specific time that's best to catch them in-store? Sometimes a little persistence can go a long way, but of course it's important to maintain a respectful and professional relationship. I hope things start to improve for you - building a strong relationship with your AD can be so rewarding in the long run! Otherwise it's time to change ADs :D
@@thesecondhandclub I was going to pop into the store one last time to see if she is there. If not, I will just write the whole thing off and buy from the grey market.
This is certainly good advice, but really, it seems it's as difficult to obtain this brand as it is to secure a job ! These tips can be applied to a job interview. Has this actually been successful and surely this "problem" will become a thing of the past once Rolex has the new factory producing AND supply increases globally.
Thanks for your comment! I love the job interview comparison - you're absolutely right, getting a Rolex can feel like that sometimes. I'm also excited about the new Rolex factory. It could mean more watches available, but part of what makes Rolex special is the exclusivity, right? Just like landing that dream job, getting a Rolex can take time and patience. Let's stay hopeful that more of us get to experience the thrill of owning a Rolex soon. Until then, let's enjoy the journey and keep the love for Rolex alive. I appreciate your thoughts - it's great having passionate folks like you around. Stay tuned for more Rolex goodness!
My AD has shown me 0 loyalty… they are a main dealer in the Midlands. I have purchased numerous Tudor watches… had 0 offers of Rolex… they offered me a Tudor Pelagos FXD when they Became more widely available.. just disappointed after 20 years of what I thought was friendship.. it turns out there is a guy that doesn’t like me there however I tried to maintain loyalty.. the just sell everything to the grey market
The reason is the flippers and second-hand dealers. And Rolex is allowing that, as long as the grey market price is higher than the retail price, Rolex will always be worry-free to sell their millions of watches produced each year.
Heres a Story. My AD's Rolex case was smash and grabbed. The thieves took nearly every watch Accept One. That's when i got the Call. I have built a relationship with My AD, and have purchased many other pieces. Sky Dweller in Blue At Retail!
@@thesecondhandclub thieves stole the rolexes from my local AD. The thieves left one behind. The Rolex Sky dweller in blue my AD offered it to me. Yea!
Amazing to hear! That's a hell of a record for a GMT. But good times in that sense are on the horizon. I think the end of indefinite waiting time are coming to an end! Enjoy the watch dearly!
You can’t. Fact. I have a 30 year relationship and massive spend history with my AD. I’m 40th on waitlist for the new GMT and at their rate of supply from Rolex it’s an 8 year wait! AD suggested I leave my place on waitlist in my will! Rolex alienating loyal customers. It’s no longer the aspirational brand it once was. It’s all about grey market dealers and flippers.
That's sad to read. Sorry you're experiencing that. I'd advise to try and build relationship with a different Jeweller / AD and give it a try, even though I feel like you might have done this already! Hey, worst case there are plenty of other brands that will take your business and offer you a great watch! Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!
With Respect WHY should you have to jump through all those hoops just to purchase a watch... It's ridiculous & i cannot imagine any other retailer making you do so..If you have the funds, i'm pretty sure you can go & purchase a £10.000 item from any luxury outlet with no questions asked or boot licking required whom ever you are...
@@KTZ_86 If ROLEX just sold anybody off the street a watch,it would stop flippers, win back the respect it probably deserves & the brand would sky rocket....I just don't get it....Rant over...👍
I totally understand where you're coming from - it can feel frustrating when you're interested in purchasing a luxury item like a watch and there are all these hoops to jump through. But here's the thing - buying a high-end watch is a big investment, and retailers want to make sure they're selling to the right people. It's not about "boot licking" or anything like that - it's about building a relationship of trust with your retailer. Plus, many luxury retailers have certain standards and protocols they have to follow to ensure that the purchase is legitimate and secure. That being said, I know it can feel daunting to go through the process. But once you do, you'll have a watch that you can cherish for a lifetime. Thanks for sharing your perspective, and I hope this helps shed some light on why things are the way they are!
There are loads of these 'tip' videos for essentially justififying the outrageous behaviour of Rolex and proping up the over inflated prices. This puts the buyer secondary to the seller and the notion that you have to 'dress to impress' the AD is ludicrous.
Completely agree with you. We shouldn’t have to go through all this to buy a watch. The dress the part, is not a mandatory but like everything, it helps giving a better image and perspection of a person.
Nothing wrong with either or if you enjoy them! If you don't feel like it will help you, just don't wear any when you go there! But its best to work with an AD that won't judge you (I know... hard to find).
There is no list at Rolex dealers persay, you put in a request. Then depending what you want, who you are, what relationship have with said AD. They like when you have a history of buying watches/jewelry that aren’t Rolex, AP, PP. Like ton of other great brands out there. Then you might amazingly get your Rolex before others. It’s politics.
Thanks for your insightful comment! You've hit the nail on the head about the process of acquiring a Rolex from an AD. It's more than just a list - it's about building a relationship and proving your genuine interest in horology. You're absolutely right, there are many fantastic brands out there, and showing appreciation for them can potentially boost your chances of getting that coveted Rolex. It's a bit of a dance, isn't it?
Yea im not going to kiss ass anymore. I ve tried it. Although i did acquire two pieces. One i wanted and one i was offered and took it only to keep that relationship going. Im slowly more passionate about other brands such as GS and Omega. Will text my AD about acquiring the black bay for christmas but not going to mention Rolex anymore. This game is not fitted for my character. Too much pride
Yeah the brand for me is ruined - its just a lifestyle brand now and has nothing to do with watches horology or sport, which is so sad because it used to be a really cool story. Rolex to me is like Gucci or LV etc
Haha! That’s a completely different topic 😄 one must like Rolex watches to follow this strategy. I tend to agree with you, for the money, you can get something with so much more character! 🙌🏻
I'm sorry but I should not have to go through all of this BS to give someone my money to buy a product. I walked into a Tudor AD, gave them my money and walked out with a Black Bay Pro. This is a joke!
I totally understand your frustration. The process to secure a Rolex at retail can indeed seem overwhelming, especially compared to more straightforward experiences with other brands like Tudor. This is largely due to the high demand and limited supply of Rolex watches. That being said, the process of acquiring a Rolex can also be part of the charm and journey of owning one of these prestigious timepieces. It's somewhat like a rite of passage in the watch collecting world, which makes finally securing the watch that much more rewarding. But you're absolutely right; it should ideally be as easy as walking into an AD, placing your order, and walking out with your dream watch. Hopefully, as brands and ADs adapt to the market, we'll see a smoother and more efficient purchasing process. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Remember, whether it's a Rolex or a Tudor, what matters most is that you love the watch you're wearing. Happy watch hunting!👍⌚
@@thesecondhandclub Rolex does not like the flippers and the grey market but they are the ones that perpetuate this market. I would gladly walk into a Rolex AD, plop down the full amount to reserve what I want and patiently wait for it. Why would I spend thousands more from a shady dealer when I could go directly to Rolex. My rite of passage came with having enough wealth to buy what I want, not from having to stroke and beg some AD to sell me something.
Welcome to the real world. It’s like that with a lot of luxury products, Hermes handbags or luxury cars. Same when wishing to move into a small exclusive luxury apartment block or gated community, or buy a property in Monaco. Your money is not enough, they too will run background checks on you, before you will be allowed to buy and move in, that’s how the world works. I don’t see it as a game, the SA is not trying to annoy you, the company just tries to avid selling, to people with wrong attentions. An SA is the first, to evaluate your true reason, for wanting the watch, once they are sure about you and your reason for buying it, they will bring forward your “case” to their manager, they will then run background checks, on you to ensure, you are not connected, to something they do not wish to support. Once that’s clear, the finale step, is offering you a watch, if and when possible.
@@user-mp5ww2bt7q You are comparing a 10K watch to a house in Monaco? My million dollar home only required a credit check. I will go and buy another Tudor thank you very much.

This is a fantastic story! Thank you for sharing Michael!
I’ve been wearing Rolex watches for 24 years, I’m a collector. In all my years I’ve never had a bad experience with an AD. AD’s respect people who are truly loyal to the Brand. It’s not about kissing up to the AD it’s about being genuine, having patience and showing respect.
Completely agree Chris! Looks like you found a great AD though! Hope you enjoy your watches dearly and hope to see you again on the channel! :)
Wear a Rolex.
appreciate the feedback and you're exactly correct. if your AD is not remembering you, visit until they do and if they don't go to another AD!
Just hoping I can get it sooner lol
keep fingers crossed. wait time is not as bad as it used to be. The yachtmaster is stunning. let us know when you get it :)
The most important thing is spending history with your AD. All other mentioned elements are just supportive
What model of Reverso are you wearing? It looks great.
Yellow or everose?
@@venicebeach1986 I got the yellow gold one, but the AD called me for the everose.
@@venicebeach1986 Personally everose. That's my preference
Oh nice congratulations! Which one? White or black dial? And yes, sometimes the buying experience can be… questionable. Enjoy the watch dearly!
Thanks for sharing your story!
Congrats, it’s a great watch. Love the no date! Enjoy it dearly
As consumers spending money, we still have to build up relationships and suck up to the sellers? Priorities are fucking wrong! You make money from me, yet I have to suck up to you?
That’s Rolex right now… but things may change.

Thank you for the kind words Joey!!! Glad you enjoyed it
I can't push myself to lay it on so thick with the AD just to "get the call' and be utterly grateful for the dealer to accept my money for him to sell me an expensive watch.

I got that watch in march ❤️
@@drandoma congratulations! 😃 it’s my favourite dial! Did you have to wait long?
Kind Regards
Levent

@@thesecondhandclub I visited them with my old 6694 once, I was in to get a ring for my wife and they complimented me, I felt it was forced 😉😂

I’m looking forward to the day that if it’s available , you just walk in and buy it instead of all this other shady wheeling and dealing and special relationship with dealers etc .
Agreed! These days might come sooner than later. 🙌🏻
There is s big difference between get A rolex snd gwtting THE rolex you want. Being encouraged ro buy a watch you dont love is the perrect way to feed the grey narket
Isn't that Rolex game plan in the end? Feeding grey market to increase "value"?
Congratulations! Hope you enjoy those pieces dearly! Looks like you found the right AD and built great relationship with them!
Great tips. Here is another tip: wear a decent watch when you go the dealer… Wear your Omega or whatever. Show you are the kind of guy who has a genuine appreciation of watches and is working his way to that Rolex. If you come with an empty wrist, its a red flag, it means you're a flipper.
Hey there,
Thanks a bunch for your insightful tip! I really appreciate it and couldn't agree more. Donning a nice watch, like your Omega or any other quality piece, does make a solid impression when you're at the dealer. It's a simple yet meaningful way to say, "Hey, I genuinely love watches and I'm working my way up to that Rolex."
I love the idea of your wrist doing the talking and demonstrating that you're not a flipper, but a true enthusiast. It's these little nuggets of wisdom, shared by seasoned collectors like you, that make our community so special and informed.
Your tip is definitely going into my mental note box for future videos. I bet it'll help many of our fellow watch enthusiasts on their journey to owning a Rolex.

They have played it well, create a relationship with your AD. Stop it 😂
You somehow have too unfortunately... Humans are still working there :D
Enjoyed your videos. Very well presented. Sadly I'm the kind of guy that if you want my money don't expect me to line up to give you it. My ego wont allow it 😂. Thank you for the kind words David! Absolutely love the black bays especially the 2023 releases.
People who want it can happily lick the shoes of a Rolex AD. I choose Cartier and Omega as my preferred brands. In addition, I take great pleasure in buying some micro brands.

It's hard to build a connection with your AD when you go in the store and they are not there or if you email them and you don't get a reply back😂
Hey there, I totally get where you're coming from.
Sorry to hear this story… Unfortunately it happens. Time to try a different jeweler/AD? Good luck chasing that Rolex if you still are!
The reason is the flippers and second-hand dealers. And Rolex is allowing that, as long as the grey market price is higher than the retail price, Rolex will always be worry-free to sell their millions of watches produced each year.
these times might be over... or close to be over. Stay tuned :)

Rolex have bought out BUCHERER so all this may change now
Not in the foreseeable future in my opinion. But I am curious to hear from you why you think so?
You can’t.
Is it bad to be "working" more than one AD at a time?
I don’t think it can hurt. It’s just time consuming but it will definitely increase your chances! Let me know how it goes :)
With Respect
WHY should you have to jump through all those hoops just to purchase a watch... It's ridiculous & i cannot imagine any other retailer making you do so..If you have the funds, i'm pretty sure you can go & purchase a £10.000 item from any luxury outlet with no questions asked or boot licking required whom ever you are...
EXACTLY! Get a GS, an Omega, or any other brand where ADs show you and YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY respect. You are paying them and keeping their business
All I have is an Apple Watch and michael Kors watch. They'll either laugh or really not take me serious. And I'm serious.
Nothing wrong with either or if you enjoy them! If you don't feel like it will help you, just don't wear any when you go there! But its best to work with an AD that won't judge you (I know... hard to find).
@@thesecondhandclub thank you
There is no list at Rolex dealers persay, you put in a request.
It's a bit of a dance, isn't it?
says the content creator wearing a Jaeger Le Coultre..... ha... funny.
Got to... haha
its always spend 10k and buy a watch you dont want.
If that's the case, I'd advise to look for a new AD. Not all authorized dealers are playing a fair game unfortunately. I feel you...
Too much pride
it's indeed a tough game out there..... completely understand your position.
How to build a relationship with AD? Buy other brand watches at retail price and loss the value of the watch by 30% once you're out of the store.
not necessarily, these times are over :) Or close....
Let us know in the comments down below your Authorized Dealer stories with Rolex! We want to hear them!
Dang that’s a lot of ass kissing for something you can get second hand easily. 😂
Hey, I say it, this is not necessarily for everyone! 🤣🙏🏻
Yeah the brand for me is ruined - its just a lifestyle brand now and has nothing to do with watches horology or sport, which is so sad because it used to be a really cool story. Rolex to me is like Gucci or LV etc
There are plenty of other brands worth picking up indeed for same monetary value!
Quite similar as getting a girlfriend.
Comparable!
Seriously...why bother? They make boring stale watches
Haha! That’s a completely different topic 😄 one must like Rolex watches to follow this strategy. I tend to agree with you, for the money, you can get something with so much more character! 🙌🏻
And they can't be bothered about us. They are still stuck with their old business models of selling through their unethical ADs.
To pay top dollars and yet need to go through all this? Lol no thanks!
Yep… completely understand your thoughts! Not everyone wants to play the “game” 🤷🏻♂️

Once that’s clear, the finale step, is offering you a watch, if and when possible.
