You have tried to claim it is because that some people were "hurt" etc, which doesn't seem to be the case most times. Many people still accept their version, they just tell themselves that it was only the people who failed, not the version. Catholics do this lots. every sect claims that only it is biblical, that they are the mature ones, that it has the truth and that everyone else is wrong. The problem is that there is nothing to show there is a right version. And from the outside, I see no love or grace between the sects.

The word is the truth, but people are still subject to the pitfalls of human thinking and unfortunately this still does manifest with some individuals or even religious bodies feeling the need to be "superior" in some fashion. Even Jesus doesn't expect any of us to be able to live up to His perfect example. A Christian will never be perfect, neither will the atheist. But the Christian has the enormous advantage, given to him by Christ, of being saved from eternal damnation just by letting Jesus lead us daily in the pursuit of perfection. The atheist can only claim not to be a hypocrite because his faithlessness prevents him from trying to set an example of godliness in the first place. Christians are only "frauds" from this perspective because they dare to let the light of God shine through them. Making it an easy target for the atheist to nitpick the flaws of that person in an attempt to deconstruct christianity. Anyone can sit on the sidelines and criticize those who are actually participating in something they don't understand. It's only in the decision to explore the unknown that the truth can be revealed to us. Though it's a tragedy that there are examples of unkind and judgemental christians out there, it is the exception and not the rule. As for myself, I choose to be an example of what God's love can look like when embodied within a person. A neighbor, friend, family member.
