    HI, thanks for sharing your experiences.
    I'm Latin-American recently graduated from EE BS, here we don't have any classification to know in which percentile of students we were, my GPA was 3.2/4. But I do have 4 papers published at IEEE conferences on my research topic. Do you think I'm a good fit for ESOP?
    Thanks again this video has motivated me to apply.

    • @dalonso
      @dalonso  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Hanssel, you're welcome! Having 4 publications in your research area prior to application is really impressive, so you should definitely apply. I know some universities in Spain also don't disclose percentile/ranking and generally grade more conservatively, so I wouldn't worry about your GPA if you think it is realtively high for your class. ETH recommends that you ask one of your recommenders to comment on your percentile or ability compared to your graduating class. Also, many times this information is not public and you have to ask your administration to make an exception (which is what I had to do). Maybe you could even get a letter from ETH. In any case, write a killer proposal and try to tie your work to research groups at ETH, good luck!

    Great video, it is really helpful. Anyway, what does the percentile of students mean? Since our universities don't have this kind of calculation. Is it calculated based on the total of graduates in that year?

    • @dalonso
      @dalonso  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Tommy, thank you! It usually is based on the graduating class you belong to, as you say. Ideally, the students you are being compared to have gone through the same set of exams, otherwise it isn’t totally fair.

    Hello! Such a great video! I have a question... do you have to be already accepted in the degree before to apply for the scolarship?

    • @dalonso
      @dalonso  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ella, thank you! You do not have to be accepted in the degree before applying, in fact, I think this is not possible since you cannot apply for the ESOP while being enrolled in a Masters degree. If you want to apply for the scholarship you have to submit your regular application documents + ESOP-specific application documents together around the mid of September. If you don't want to apply for the scholarship then you can also submit the regular application sometime in the spring. Hope this helps and happy to answer any other questions!

    Hi, thanks for the informative video man. Do you know of any other scholarships for students who'll be studying in Switzerland?

    • @dalonso
      @dalonso  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Anarghya, I'm glad you foudn it helpful :) Sadly I'm not really acquainted to scholarships for other Swiss unis/programs because I knew very clearly that I wanted to study at ETH and that's the only uni I applied to. I did apply for Spanish Government scholarships (La Caixa scholarships) and know a few Spanish peers who are at ETH with that scholarship. Definitely check government scholarships at your country!

    Can the reference letter also derive from a person who is not a professor but has for example tutored and supervised you during a compulsory internship or something?

    • @dalonso
      @dalonso  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nicocod5512 As far as I know you don't have to maintain a given average grade, or finish within a certain amount of time, or take certain courses. It's super flexible and you don't have any more commitments or responsibilities than a regular student

    Do we need IELTS and GRE for msc in ETH Zurich, won't they waive them if we have research publications and good intern experience? In BSC honours

    • @dalonso
      @dalonso  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Hash, when I applied last year, the GRE was not mandatory, but since I applied to some US schools too I submitted my score to ETH too. I'm not sure what conditions are required for an exemption of the language test, you should consult with ETH directly. I did the TOEFL so have no experience with this.
