Tomo- whenever I watch you playing,it makes me think of a man who’s lived on a mountain in the woods his whole life… and knows every single path and rock and tree… and your fingers just stroll and jog across the terrain of the fretboard… Always a pleasure to experience..! Thanks.!
Very nice guitar, but I agree with the other comments. Your fingers are the biggest part of that killer sound. If anyone is listening 1. Where, WHO would be a good place to start to learn / with tabs, the jazzy walking bass line stuff? I guess even going way back to Chet Atkin's styles and Waltzes?? Also, Damn that percussive stuff. It's so much easier on the bass. I can funk out on the bass, but not great like professionally. On guitar, it's so hard. I need someone online to teach me that stuff. Help? I have an American Standard Tele, modern C neck with 9.5 radius. The truss rod is broken so I am looking for a new roasted maple neck. Maybe a thicker and maybe a compound radius. I'm curious what the specs are on this Blackbird. Very interesting what Tomo was saying about Maple neck vintage being deeper in brightness. I got a great deal on the guitar. Time to fix it. I put JBE Modern T pickups on it. I want a good clean tone. I have mostly played bass. Now I am going back to my beginnings and my goal is to relearn guitar without all my rock influences. Now I could use some Theory but not black dots. Somebody !!! forgive my ramblings and suggest some teachers like Tomo WITH TABS.
Almost every day you put effort into making a quality video where you share your knowledge to the rest of the world via youtube, and that deserves a big thank you!
I purchased a Fender Vintera 50's Modified Telecaster, last year for $500. Swapped put the tuners and saddles for compensated brass ones. It's amazing...so I can only imagine how great yours is. Teles are rock solid and easy to play. Amazing distinctive tones for life!
When the master playes, one does well to listen. Your joy of playing really transpires through your videos. And such a nice and muscial slap technique, always a pleasure to listen to you.
They sound like the perfect pickups. I wish my much loved vintage 52 reissue sounded like that. So balanced in all three positions. Loved the demo thanks!
I love the variety of tones you can get from guitar and amp combination. So nice! Your playing is fantastic as well! I could tell how much you truly enjoyed this instrument by the way you were playing it!
You can never get wrong with tele's! I currently own 3 guitars which is a Squier Strat, Mustang, & tele. My first electric guitar is the tele that i own right now. It's a local branded guitar and whenever i try those three, i just really love the twang you get on the tele and it's really one of the most versatile guitars you'd ever own! Thank you tomo sensei for making me love and appreciate my tele more! ❤️
Gorgeous guitar! Beautiful patina in the metal hardware and it sounds great. I love listening to Tomo’s strumming, he’s so good with the rhythm and feel.
That front p/u would be incredible for jazz players. Great tones all the way around from a great player. Kudos to Mike for a fine instrument. Thank you for sharing.
Mr Fujita you are an amazing player and I could listen to you play for hours and hours. I wish I could afford to get lessons from you, your playing is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your new Tele with us, it sounds amazing.
Thank you so much! Please join my Guitar Wisdom. I teach everything there! Only $9.99 a month subscription video lessons so all you have to do is skip one lunch a month!
I have a 52 style Kelton Swade. I love everything about it. It sounds very similar to this one. The neck isn’t flamed though. I really enjoy it. It’s become my main guitar for the last decade. I play it daily on a cruise ship, so it’s really become even better. I have compensated saddles as well. Made from cold rolled steel, and a bigsby.
Wow beautiful flame neck and those pickups rock Tomo,I predict that this won't be your last purchase of a tele, you like all of us guitar collecters, always have room for another personality, and the feeling of buying a new guitar hasn't changed since we were kids,
My professionally, done by me. Squier Classic vibe sounds and looks much like this one. Its perfectly intonated. Brass sqddles and 50s style mellow. Someone got it before me and modded it but the frets and wiring is all me. Astounding! I did a tone bleed as well.
We congratulations again🙂 All positions sound great! I’m sure the maker will have full books now lol. It’s great that such an incredible instrument found its way to an incredible artist. The search for the grail never ends… it just changes😂
Stunning! ... .a true Butterscotch Beauty! .... My next big guitar was gonna be a Custom Fender but this is prettier than any Fender I've ever seen. ... subscribed!
That is one very balanced sounding Tele Tomo. I`ve had trouble trying to get a Tele to sound balanced across the tone spectrum. when switching through pickups. Your Tele sounds damn near perfect..!
Beautiful video. So much information about so many different things. It's video worthing coming back to over and over. As you probably know, there's a tradition in Zen of putting an imperfection in their pottery. I bought a Squier 60's Telecaster Thinline with fret buzzing issues on the low three strings. Even after having it setup before shipping. But I love the sound. And with your triads, who needs 6 strings. I'm looking at it as an opportunity to learn about saddle, truss rod, and intonation by tinkering with it myself. But by focusing on the blues triads - something you did on one of the demos - I discovered some interesting ways to extend the basic triads. No idea why they sound good, but they do. And I'm way better at seeing what progressions you're playing. Thanks, Tomo.
@@TomoFujitaMusic Proud to be imperfect!!! I love it. If I wasn't trying not to compare, we could have an imperfection contest. I like my chances.. As a guitar player who's returned to guitar late in life, I value the knowledge and technique. But if I don’t look at my limits as opportunities, I'm making a mistake. If I was a kid in Mississippi who had a one string cigar-box guitar, 3 strings is like a 59 Les Paul.
I want the one your playing or pretty dam close. That figured maple neck is to die for. If anything that sounds as close as your going to get. I have never heard two exact actual vintage guitars that sounded exactly alike unlike a new one. A new one is fine. I worked in music stores since 1972. I have seen all of these guitars. You did a beautiful job on that fiddle! Cheers
Even same year... 1953 Telecaster... if you have three of them. Each one has slightly different neck feel and tone. This guitar went beyond my imagination. How did you nail this? So good! I mean... this guitar really making my playing so much better! The tone makes you play better! Amazing!! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! I love playing guitar! Exact same feeling as when I was 13!
That's it!!
OMG - what can Tomo NOT do.... that slap demo was phenomenal! Very inspiring to see all the styles presented by one set of hands.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Too 👍

Yep I got a reliced Vintera 50’s as well. Love the extra chunky neck!
Thank you for this!!! I have been looking for that sound in a Tele forever and have never been happy with all the usual Fender offerings.
You're welcome!

Wow. Look at that neck! Gorgeous. Those jazz sounds on the neck pickup are beautiful. Too, you are The Sensei. You're guitar playing blows my mind.

I’m lucky to have a ‘52 and Tomo’s is right on the money. Of course he’s got the hands to make a log sound magical. Well done Tomosan.

Great playing, as usual, Tomo. I would say the guitar has found you and its search is now over.

I love listening to Tomo’s strumming, he’s so good with the rhythm and feel.
Thanks a lot!
the tone of that guitar is so perfect for your style, that fender single coil sound with the slight jazzier warmth of the tele neck
Thank you!
I really like the way you move seamlessly from blues to jazz to funk - bothers and sisters of the same mother. 👍🏼
