Great post ive been looking at giving these carburetors a shot cause ive been working on a oldschool build on a budget and it needs a carb bad...once again great illustration and thanks for posting 👍🏽😎🏁🏁🏁
the fuel evaporates! put a little fuel in a cover or small jar leave it out side and check it in 6 or 8 hours it will be gone or gone overnight it evaporates with the alcohol in it i tried a check valve in the fuel line no difference it evaporates!
Hey Bud thanks for the your video I was like yourself I did fix mine but found out the base plate was bad I was on the fence about buying a 500 dollar Quadrajet or buying one for 150 on Amazon I have one ordered now. Thanks again
The new carb is good so far now on cold days don't pat gas when first starting the car just turn the engine over until you feel oil pressure is up and then pat the gas how many times and turn the key thats better for older engines
@@nowherefastgarage Glad you got it running good...right now my ccc q-jet requires the mixture control harness be unplugged to keep engine running..if I plug it back in she dies
Im super happy ! that old olds is cool! Side note: I noticed the Jeep is nowhere in sight!
The dealer has had the jeep since early June. Needs an engine as suspected.
May have to get one for my 86 442 as well
Good fix finally.😊

After all this, it turned out to be the choke was out of adjustment! I never thought it would prevent it from starting, but it did.

You’re welcome and good luck. I hope it works out.

I installed a fuel inline check valve on carbureted vehicles, it worked for me and was a cheap fix.
Good idea!
Need a carb for my 86 Z28. I want to keep the feedback Qjet. Tuned right Qjets run great.
How did 3-4 pumps of the accelerator do on a cold start?
I had to adjust the fast idle screw for the choke, and then the car would start after 1-2 pumps.

That carb is a junk Chinese clone. Im shocked it even started, much less ran. Quality rebuilt Q Jets are $700+ and not sold on Ebay.
It’s a remanufactured Rochester carb from United Remanufacturing in Chicago. It worked very well for the price and it solved my issues.
