    You can use the camera-positioning on the P2 to position your work and record the x and y save file open in light burn enter x and y using right as 0-0 on the light burn program like XCS does set height to work piece--I manually measure the Hight in light burn- I stack index cards and slide between the tube and work piece then measure them Z 25 mm might be the top of the knives remove knives to experiment for the Z depth to check and confirm your machines settings- to experiment- burn a shape using XCS record x and y save and open in light burn enter the x and y mine matches up perfect

    Stained glass being one of those hobbies I've been meaning to get back to for many years I was very interested in the outcome of your stained glass testing. I could see the laser being a help to doing fast and accurate cuts in stained glass, as you say straight lines it'd easier to measure and score the glass in the traditional way. Curved patterns on the other hand may work out well on the laser, especially with my dodgy score lines. I think I'll dig some glass out and experiment, figuring out new ways of doing stuff is what I enjoy most about lasers and 3d printing.

      Awesome. Make sure to come back and let me know how it went. Curious to hear a seasoned stained glass worker’s experience.

    You can run the P2 with Lightburn, but it lacks all the nice features like autofocus, camera-positioning, etc. But they are working on better P2 support. I guess they got annoyed by me asking every other day. ;-)
    What I do for now is use LB to create / edit my files, export as SVG and then use XCS to run the laser.
    I fully agree on the RA2 positioning. It's just annoying that you can't choose the center line.

    The polar you can increase the work height with risers on the feet, however you are limited to the space in the bottom of the polar meant for the rotary attachments to sit in.

      @VoeltnerWoodworking  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, it’s definitely a little bit more limited but still a good machine.

    Awesome review. Thank you! I would love to see more of the autofeed capabilities. I cut wood veneer (currently by hand), and am curious about its ability to cut long strips and fancy shapes in this material. Hand cutting veneers is sooooo tedious.

      Thank you! The process of the conveyor is very similar to the conveyor for the S1. Here’s a video where I tested it with the S1:

    It's great to see the P2 engraving the inside curve of a bowl or tray. If I took a 8" wide cereal bowl and turned it upside down, could the P2 engrave a 3 inch band with patterns inside the band... on the outside of the bowl's curved surface to about 3 inches up the wall... leaving the 4" wide flat round base untouched? Thank you.

    • @VoeltnerWoodworking
      @VoeltnerWoodworking  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's going to depend on the curvature of the bowl. There is a tolerance to make sure the tool head does not interfere with the surface, so if it's a fairly shallow profile it should work. Steep profiles will give you an error. Another option would be to use the rotary but you'll have to get creative with how to position it. I hope that helps!

    I am waiting for my P2 as I type. I am coming from the S1 as I can see the limitations of the S1. The S1 is still a good choice if you wish to get into Laser Engraving. I have learnt a lot and now it is time to go beyond the 4", sorry I shouldn't have said. Nothig with humour, yes I am from the UK hence the spelling ;-).

      Unfortunately I haven't found the ability to do that. I'd recommend getting a 3d scanner for that type of thing.

    Could you make a video to the air purifyer. I kind of doubt, that I could run the laser in my basement with just that purifyer and no external exhaust... or is it so good?

    • @VoeltnerWoodworking
      @VoeltnerWoodworking  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you have the riser base there will be some air gaps where it could escape, but without the riser it does a really good job eliminating the smoke exhaust. It’s really a good solution.

      For that you’re going to want a fiber laser. A co2 laser can do some metals using marking spray but it’s not going to work on most metals like a fiber laser.
