    Great and very professional video. You hav a new sub! I bought the Nort Pole yellow for my daily driver at work, and they are great, with deep sound and a little subdued to be ok in an office space. Would be interesting to see the same kind of comparison with those and the Aqua kings.

      Thanks Stefan! The north pole yellow is indeed quite unique in sound signature. Glad you like it! We are actually getting some aqua kings in and will do a comparison next =)

    I got these switches last week and I have a feeling the NP yellows were changed. Very heavy, mushy, and muted on the press but has a thock on release. I found there was a yellow cushion of some sort inside the bottom of the center mast. So that when the center pole goes down inside the mast it is cushioned by it thus muting the press sound. After a lot of testing and messing around with the switch, I have decided to remove the yellow cushion inside (it is removeable with a long thin tool like a needle or the tip of a sharp tweezer) the mast and replace the springs with a longer spring for better return. It improved the press feel as well as sound to my preference.

      Hi Jonathan, it sounds like the NP you got is their 2.0 version that has the yellow rubber inside the bottom of the housing. We just made a video compare the 2.0 version and the original.
      You are right, the 2.0 version is more cushioned primarily due to the yellow rubber which we think it's some kind of silicon. On the downstoke, it feels like a silent switch but upstoke still sounds and feels like the original yellow.

    Nice comparison! The Gateron page for the North Pole switches shows the two box stem versions (Red & Silver) have a shorter travel distances so I'd assume that means long pole, which would indicate the cause of sound difference. I have the 'Yellow' variant and it's easily one of the best Gats to date, along with the Oil Kings (and spin-offs of that like the Blue Bubblegums) and it's overall better than the Inks and Aqua King IMO. Very muted and deep overall, my personal preference. Cheers!

      how would you compare the Oil Kings to the North Pole? Are NP heavier at all?

    • @flockofwildcactus
      @flockofwildcactus ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Arome909 The NP is a bit lighter overall but both are standard springs IIRC. NP is the deeper and more muted of the two, otherwise both are modern Gateron molds but the NP seems to have tighter tolerances with stem wobble.

      @@flockofwildcactus Thanks for your input! I'm going for the NP Yellow for my next build but wasn't sure if it's heavier than the Oil Kings.

    In fact it seems that North Pole is so less « wobble » (0.38mm something like that, less than average for what i’ve seen in a vid wobble comparaison) that at this level, it’s as if lubing isn’t anymore required… ? 🤔 Btw it sounds equal between stock and lubed (yellow). Thanks for this great vid about NPole that look to be excellent kcaps. Gonna buy them i think..
