    I was a 15 year old kid in Sweden. Even though I was across the globe listening to another country's president elect, I remember crying. It was so moving and in its foundation not only American but truly human. We are one. And people across the world heard the message and the world was a little better for a little while.

    I remember listening raptly to that speech. I'm from Holland, was a kid at the time, and was quite tired of being blasted by overseas politics at that point, but this struck me. I remember writing in my diary how cool it was that a guy like him could become president, and how much hope it gave me for the world at large. I know things like that can happen again. I want to believe we're on the right course, still, despite or maybe because of setbacks that show how not to do things. Fingers crossed for the future.

    Obama *HAS* to be, by far, THE BEST orator of my lifetime (nearly 4 decades)! He was a pretty good president overall, though I didn't agree with all of his administration's policies and/or actions...but God d*** can that man SPEAK! 🙌

    This gets me everytime. This night in 2008 made me fall in love with politics. I knew, even at 10 years old, that this was a moment unlike anything ive ever seen. And I havent seen anything like it since.

    I really needed to hear this speech. I have been so sad this whole day. Hate won today and our democracy is in danger. Vaccine mandates may go away. The department of education might be gone soon. I am just so sad because for the longest time as a second generation immigrant that this country was truly something special. That we will always be the becon of hope and prosperity. I have come to realize that this is not the case. This country is not great and I have never felt so defeated in my entire life. For over half my life I had to deal with trump.
