I just put a new carb on an 110cc Tao Tao atv. I moved the needle down as far as it goes but when it starts it wants to take off , almost as if you had the throttle all the way down. It’s idling super fast and I need some help on what to do next. Keep in mind it’s the same carb as was on it b4 and it ran fine.
Do you happen to have jet sizes chart equivalent to other brands? I find the keihin/nibbi the same sizes and their 115 jets is smaller compare to a generic unbranded 115 jets you can get at amazon.
Hey man, maybe you can help me, i have been struggling for a year on my old kawasaki ninja: i have a 4 carb engine, the previous owner put on an hideous exhaust and changed the carb jets. The bike never ran properly, i put on the stock exhaust, stock filter and stock jets, but it always bogs down when i open the throttle, especially when i am going uphill. It has come to the point that the bike barely accelerates on an incline. What could be the problem? I tired to restore the carbs to the factory settings, changed the needle height, changed the air fuel mixture screw adjust, checked the float height, all looks good. I am suspecting a vacuum leak somewhere but i don't know how to find it. Thanks in advance mate, you earned a sub with your videos :D
Well i have a little update : after the whole winter i tried to start it and the old battery was totally dead. Took out the ols battery and found out it was smaller than the original spec, bought the right battery (10AH against the 8.5 AH of the one that was on the bike) and lo and behold, the bike seems to run fine now. How can it even happen? My theory is that the smaller battery limited the current that go to the spark plugs and the fuel pump
@@thejunkman Hi mate, I have atv that idles well but at throttle the rpm keeps going up and down -- let say 1/3 fixed throttle position but the rpm goes up and down, it seems to be in a regular patter, will happen the same at stationary or riding -- gives jerky ride!!!
It will work, but the jetting will have to change. You will just have to test and tune for it. I can't tell you the sizes you will need. Start with the same sizes and work from there.
I guess what do you mean? Each carburetor can be a little different in exactly where the height is measured from, however there is usually a tolerance of about 1mm.
I have a keihin cvk twin carb, the problem is port and polished the heads, it want run on stock jetting, stock pilot it idle fine but falls on its face when given gas, I opened the pilot jet 2 thousands and it want idol but it will rev great, , I dont know what to do, should I go back to stock pilot and shine the needle, cause going up on main jets have made no difference, and I went through several stepping it up several times, same results, only time I could get it to rev was open the pilot, but is to much to idle and flooding the plug, so 2 thousands is to much, and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks and have a great turkey day, God bless
Adjust the fuel air screw in until it stumbles then out until it stumbles and split the difference when you set it. Do this for both carbs. Then, sync the carbs to one another. If the fuel air is under 1 turn, you need a smaller pilot jet. If you are more than 2 and a half turns out, you need a larger pilot jet. Another great option would be to take it to a mechanic.
I must have 100 carburetor videos bookmarked. But this is the one that made me understand how a carburetor works. Brilliant. Thanks.
Excellent delivery of knowledge. Thank you.
This is the most helpful video I’ve ever watched on this

Usually stock jetting is a little lean. Try a richer main jet.
Thanks man, I'll give it a try

Sweet good compilation!
My bike was hesitating and stalling almost as much as this guy's voice until I got my carb fixed.
I ran a mikuni vm18 on a 66cc ported chinadoll and am worried to run it too lean how do I know what is running perfect and running too lean?
How do I know what size carb to use?
I have a pz27 on my chinese dirt bike. Can I slap a 27mm flat slide carb and switch the jets for it to work? I'm sure its no but I feel like maybe?

What about the float height? for me it seems to be different opinion about this area? -
